Doing things a bit differently with my Mock 3.0, gotta keep it spicy and interesting. This mock contains trades but I’m also new so I don’t actually know trade values of picks, so everything will be just vibes based.
This is very much a “me playing Madden for every team” kinda vibe, not sure how correct it’ll be, but I’m sure it’ll be fun for me. I’m also a touch sick right now so this might come off a bit more ornery than I am.
Oh! Also, I have the playoff draft pick order in the order of my predictions, so that’s kinda fun.
1.01 AZ - DT Crasher Wake (242 TPE) / ZodiacEXE
If I’m Arizona here, I’m looking to take advantage of the NOLA 1st and the fact that Iman Outlaw wants to be an Outlaw. This coupled with the fact that Simo is in the draft is just too good from a value perspective. I’m looking to trade down to the around 4ish spot, maybe grabbing a free S44 R2 along the way. Any of the top 11ish players here I would be happy to draft and I feel like getting down to somewhere around 4 would work out well, although I wouldn’t mind dropping to 8 where Austin’s second pick is, and nabbing a R1 for next year.
If I’m any of the other teams, I’m not going to rise for the 1OA bait, it’s just too costly and feeding Arizona more picks just kinda sinks you a little lower in the general race for an Ultimus.
So with that, I’m taking Crasher Wake (DT), user ZodiacEXE with this pick. Crasher was our DSFL 1OA and completely deserves to continue that and be 1OA over here. A strong user in a few sim leagues, Zodiac is good people, and has proven to be an active, friendly user. From a positional vantage, I’m not super excited with a DT over here, but with McTurtle hitting season #10 and having an Emerson Quinn with lower TPE than Crasher will have, I expect Scruffy the Janitor and Crasher Wake to both be called up to the big leagues immediately.
1.02 BER - WR Thomas Sutha (236 TPE) / lemonoppy
I’m tempted to take myself here since I’m conceited, but haven’t had talks with Berlin yet so I don’t want to do that, even though Berlin looks like they might need some WR help in the future (I’d also love to pick up a RB here as Berlin). It’s also a shame that the CBs in this draft are both GMs and then the next being 37th ranked with 127 TPE. With the fact that Berlin has pick 4 as well, I’m tempted to trade down but I don’t think I can tempt anyone but NOLA or Austin. Most of the other teams in this draft just need player volume and so can’t justify the trade up. I think the price here might be a bit too high, so I’m grabbing myself anyway. It’s the position of need for Berlin and even though they didn’t scout me, there’s lots of time for that.
1.03 SAR - S Josh Gibson (261 TPE) / DoubleDub
I’ve mocked Gibson to Sarasota for basically every draft I’ve done. Spike Daniels is a S31 403 TPE player who probably needs to retire just from a regression standpoint, and chim rickles from S34 only has 867 TPE at the moment, that’s also going to hurt. DoubleDub is here from PBE and might have some question marks on if he’ll earn enough to max earn (currently -1.7M in the bank) but assuming he does, I think this is a home run pick from a positional need.
1.04 BER - LB Cheecago Boucher (229 TPE) / UberBJ
Our resident “money” spammer, UberBJ goes to Berlin with their second pick, very fortunate for a Berlin team that looks to compete. I’m taking a known cool guy and max earner, gambling addict though he may be. By taking Boucher here, I’m also kind of putting a squeeze on available LBs, making teams figure out if they can wait for Gaius Gleel or podcaster Norman Smiley. LB is an evergreen need and Boucher should be ready to head the next generation of Fire Salamanders as their S36/S37 squad drops into regression.
As a note, I think I wouldn’t trade down as Berlin here, I know I want a third pick this draft to grab an RB but the quality of player that Uber is really makes me lock in my pick here.
1.05 AUS - QB Jay Cue III (299 TPE) / Opera_Phantom
Austin gets their QB for the future, Jay Cue III has an astounding amount of TPE, really showing what a max earning TDL player can do. If I’m Austin, I’m coming into this draft needing to have Cue at the end of it. I think there might be some trade baiting happening with Austin to try and get them to trade up unnecessarily but standing pat will work out, I think.
TRADE: NOLA gets 1.06, SAR gets 1.09, 2.06
1.06 NOLA - LB Gaius Gleel (211 TPE) / Crodyman
As someone who’s generally into all the marine based teams just because I like fish, I’m a bit worried here as Sarasota about my roster going into the next couple of seasons. Miller is a good QB who’s going to be coming into his maxed window but the roster around him has quite a few regression holes that’ll open up. Having LB King Dedede and RB Ace Anderson helps alleviate a couple positions but I want to pick up a WR, DT/DE, and CB in this draft.
At this point I’m looking at picking Sack Sparrow or Wing Gundam, and I can’t get YKW to trade up 1 spot because they’re a team that needs capital, so I’m calling NOLA for a trade here and telling them Gaius Gleel won’t be on the board by the time they pick, he’ll probably be gone by the Austin pick. NOLA gives up their 2.06 to pick swap 4 places here and Sarasota will be able to get one of the two players they wanted anyway.
Gleel being chosen here kind of takes any LB off the board, unless someone wants to trade up to grab Smiley ahead of Austin.
1.07 YKW - DT Sack Sparrow (231 TPE) / Water
At 1.06 I’m torn between taking Cleetington or DT Sack Sparrow. The clincher here for me is the fact that TE is a luxury spot and Detective Crashmore is more than enough for a team on start of a rebuild. Water is an updater and can be counted on to max-earn and photoshop Jack Sparrow into a ton of great pictures. Sack Sparrow should be a true rookie in the ISFL team and it might be a couple hard seasons while the Wraiths get back into competing form, especially as they look for their QB of the future.
1.08 AUS - TE Ignatious Cleetington (224 TPE) / 110radio
I think everyone knows Cleetington by now, 110radio is active in the Discords + has the top podcast in the league. Austin does really well for themselves here with picking up a TE that can replace Pegme Amidala (286 TPE IA) and a S32 Deshawn Penne. It’s hard for rookie TEs to get meaningful volume, but having another true rookie would be a lot of fun for the True Rookie awards, although I don’t think Cleetington will win it. Projecting the next Hogmally here, and I’m very happy for Austin with this draft.
TRADE: COL gets 1.08, SAR gets 2.03. 2.05. S44 R2
1.09 COL - TE Dylan Duma (236 TPE) / honey
Dylan Duma gets some draft capital invested in him as Colorado moves in front of Chicago to pick up honey. Duma is a max-earning, gif making TE who fits in well in the Colorado locker room and is a definite target for the team. As Sarasota in this position, I’m already happy with my ability to grab one of my two players I wanted after trading down, but being offered a chance to really build some capital, I’m really considering it.
In my head I’m assuming that S44 R2s will be roughly equivalent to a S43 first, especially with the way Colorado is projected to finish. Colorado gets to move a GM forced 2.03 into the 2.13, which is also quite nice here.
Honey is a great user, the second max-earning TE in this class and tied for 2nd in this class if we remove the TDL creates. I think honey could warrant more draft capital to move up for her, and I think it’s definitely a move that Colorado is looking to make in this upcoming draft. It’s a bit of an awkward fit here with Hogmally and Bong Stevens both being on the team but I think it’s a move that the team will try and fit in.
1.10 CHI - LB Norman Smiley (183 TPE) / SmittyHextall
Norman Smiley finds his way over to Chicago, yet another LB to go in the first. Smiley projects to be another True Rookie in the ISFL, the Chicago roster is a bit small and in need of some help outside of the DL position where they’ve got a few callups waiting to get into the action. Chicago does need some help at CB but with being able to grab Smiley, I think we get into a really interesting part of the Chicago roster building, they’ve got a lot cooking and are really set up to make some good post-season runs in a season or two, maybe with a couple FA signings. Chicago finds itself another podcaster, which is kinda neat.
1.11 SAR - DE Wing Gundam (223 TPE) / ctots
I’m really happy as Sarasota here, I’ve got my safety Josh Gibson, and now I basically have free reign to pick who I want, especially after the LB squeeze that’s happened. To add to that, the player I wanted here was Wing Gundam aka ctots aka Scott and so this draft is unfolding spectacularly. Looks like we’re going to get a lot of true rookies this season as Wing Gundam immediately slots in for McHits, who’ll retire based on TPE and regression.
1.12 AUS - WR Anakin Skywalker (191 TPE) / ForSucksFake
FSF is back with a vengeance, and Austin grabs Anakin Skywalker. FSF will get to feast in the DSFL as the Austin WR corps doesn’t quite need him now, but will call him up after a couple of seasons. The other players in FSF’s TPE range here are all RBs, and I don’t think I’d take one here as Austin.
1.13 BAL - RB Oskar Clark (202 TPE) / goblin jr.
Baltimore comes up short in the Ultimus but comes away with Oskar Clark; I’ve been quite impressed with goblin jr’s media game, a late joiner who’s immediately started contributing and getting into the league. Oskar Clark is my top RB in this class by a long mile, his earning, contribution, and media creation just shows a user who is into the league and understands what it is.
1.14 AZ - LB Iman Outlaw (249 TPE) / allbetsonjames
And the rich get richer! The Outlaws get another Outlaw, and what a get it is. I don’t think it makes sense for Arizona to not pick them up here, and any other team trying to ransom Outlaw by holding him hostage is just making a losing play.
2.01 NOLA - DT Allister Adebam (214 TPE) GM PICK
2.02 CHI - LB Sim’ga Nah’sim (218 TPE) GM PICK
2.03 SAR - OL Kelijah Verwae (176 TPE) - Recently started updating again
2.04 SJS - S Tha Thu Craicte (179 TPE) - Kinda weird Deadly goes so late
2.05 SAR - LB Sam Mercury (176 TPE)
2.06 SAR - RB Kyle Bessey (191 TPE)
2.07 BAL - S Robert Green (166 TPE)
2.08 AUS - CB Meowchael Cleocatchra (127 TPE)
2.09 NOLA - RB Bertie Mannering-Phipps (192 TPE)
2.10 YKW - QB Maximus Boudreaux (218 TPE) GM PICK
2.11 NOLA - WR Tyler Hunt (176 TPE)
2.12 SJS - WR La’Fluke Paris-Johnson (142 TPE)
2.13 COL - CB Bell Pepper (175 TPE) GM PICK
2.14 AZ - CB Paul Dosza (236 TPE) GM PICK
This is very much a “me playing Madden for every team” kinda vibe, not sure how correct it’ll be, but I’m sure it’ll be fun for me. I’m also a touch sick right now so this might come off a bit more ornery than I am.
Oh! Also, I have the playoff draft pick order in the order of my predictions, so that’s kinda fun.
