So here it is folks. Another ISFL mock, this one brought to you by the voice of the DSFL...yours truly. So how did I come up with this mock? First I'll say this is a total crap shoot. This mock does not take into account any trades, or potential position swaps. I'm also not 100% sure if the order is correct at the time of this writing. But it does take into account the prospects in the draft, and what little exposure I have seen around the league. For the actual, tangible data, I referenced the TPE Tracker, the S42 regression thread ( and I think there might be some inconsistencies between these two reference points) and the budget sheet. So here goes my swing at the mock, coming from a totally uninformed and completely okayest rookie.
1. from
With the number one pick in the ISFL Season 43 Draft, the Arizona Outlaws pick: Linebacker - TIJ - Iman Outlaw.
Not to be mispronounced as E-MON, I'M AN OUTLAW is pulling a Babe Ruth and calling they're shot. THE top LB in the DSFL immediately bolsters the Outlaws aging linebacker corps. With a clear need at LB due to a few early to mid season 30's players - Carissa van Campen - season 35, Leonardo McTurtle - season 33, and Akaki Akayre - season 36, regression is going to rear its ugly head for Arizona, and soon. Arizona actually takes several regression hits on the defensive side of the ball. CB - Outlaw Mode Sicko, CB - Spottie O’Dopaliscious, and DT - Raphael McTurtle. Iman Outlaw makes perfect sense here as one of the top TPE earners in this draft class. The first two being recreates, I think this gives Iman a little bit of an edge over them being a fresh rookie, and since they are sitting on another pick in the 1st round that gives them the flexibility to pick-up two top tier players this round.
Alternatively I think Crasher Wake or Cheecago Boucher are top choices here too. Tune into the SFNN podcast where I dig a little deeper into this pick and this situation overall.
2. from
With the second overall pick in the draft, Berlin selects: WR - Thomas Sutha.
The Salamanders have one WR - Zayne Dangle S34 already entering regression at the start of this season, with another WR - Sconnie McSix S36 right around the corner. With no heir apparent WR waiting in call up reserves, taking Thomas Sutha 2nd overall is a no brainer. They get the top WR in the draft and a great user to go along with it. Sure they have other needs to fill with their aging OL S41 player Beniri T’Chawama and total of 6 players on the regression watchlist, but you fill an immediate need with this pick. They should have enough time for Sutha to bank some TPE, especially with two TEs pending on callups to play as a pass catcher for them, but why not take a blue chip offensive weapon here. They've also go the fourth pick, right around the corner. Sutha is definitely sim blessed and right away bolsters the offense. With Sutha they get a user who is one of the top max earners in the DSFL and all around great person in the league. The Sailfish get a potential future Hall of Famer with this pick.
3. from
With the third overall pick in the draft, Sarasota picks: DT - Crasher Wake
The Sailfish have got an aging roster, with 10 players on the S42 regression list - ranging from S31 to S35 - they are going to have wholes to fill at a lot of key positions. One of which is the WR slot with Nick Kaepercolin Jr. losing a huge chunk of TPE to regression. They also take another hit on the offensive side of the ball with their TE, (S34) - Lucius Salem - 25% TPE Loss suffering a regression hit. It sure would have been nice for the Sailfish if Thomas Sutha could come in ready to contribute at this role immediately, but alas the top WR is off the board.I think Sarasota might also look to replace their aging (and maybe IA) DT Mistah Freddy. They take Crash, the DSFL 1st Overall pick and a max earner in this class. I dont think they can do any wrong here with this pick. They have no DTs in their rookie call-up roster. So this one seems like a slam dunk.
I think Sack Sparrow (who fills the DT need) could also wind up here with this pick. Could see a TE come off the board here as well.
4. from
With the fourth overall pick, and back on the clock are the Berlin Salamanders. with their SECOND pick in the top five of the 1st round, they select: DT - Sack Sparrow
Still in some trouble with TPE regression shortages looming on the horizon Berlin has to do something here. With six total players on the S42 Regression list they have wholes to fill at OL, CB and DT. Fortunately they have 2 CB callups, 1 OL and 1 DT waiting for them in the shadows already. They've already picked up an offensive weapon, and even though they have a DT call-up from S41, Atlas Kirby has not been updated since February of 2023. I think the Fire Salamanders need to address this whole quickly, and Sack Sparrow is the Interior Lineman for the job. Sack Sparrow is the top DT on the board and seems like a great fit for this need.

with the fifth pick in the ISFL S43 draft, the Austin Copperheads take: Jay Cue III
Austin's defensive core is hemorrhaging TPE in S42. Linebacker Spicy Ron, CB Draft Steal, and DE Joey Din, have all entered regression. I think the right choice for the Copperheads here is to replenish that defensive unit with a solid choice at LB. But theres a bigger problem for the Copperheads. Austin currently has no other QB rostered, and no potential DSFL call up. With Queen Elizabeth II taking a 20% regression hit this season, Austin needs a QB solution fast! Not taking a top tier QB here could be a disaster for them. I like the idea of going with a defensive pick here, but Austin is back on the board at 8, so I say go QB here and get your player.
6.
with the sixth pick in the draft Sarasota takes: S - Josh Gibson
Having already picked up a DT in Crasher Wake, Sarasota takes the defense to the next level with the highest ranked Saftety in the draft. Josh Gibson looks to fill a whole left by not one, but two aging Safties on the Sailfish roster. Chim Rickles - S34 and Spike Daniles S31, who is already at 50% TPE regression THIS SEASON, are the only safties in Sarasota's depth chart. They also have no rookies to call up at this position. If Sarasota is looking to replenish that secondary, this is a solid choice for them to go with.
7.
with the seventh pick in the draft, Yellow Knife picks: DE - Wing Gundam
Boy does Yellow Knife really need a QB. The next QB up is Maximus Boudreaux, who cant get picked until the second round though. So where does that leave Yellow Knife? They have calls up on deck for basically every position (RB,WR,TE,OL,LB,CB,S) but still a lot of regression to deal with. I think a good choice here is to take Wing Gundam the best DE on the board here. This addresses a position they dont have a call up for, and fixes the problem of S33's Daron Arnold the DE who took a 30% TPE hit this season. ctots is a great user too, so it looks like a great fit for the Wraiths.
8.
With the 8th overall pick Austin takes: LB - Cheecago Boucher, Esquire
Thats none of other then the money man himself, user UberBJ, and the top Linebacker on the board, Boucher. Austin definitely has the needs with S32 LB - Spicy Ron hitting a regression wall head on with a 40% TPE drop this season. They still have S39 LB Linebacker, and S41 LB Ryan Knock. But nobody else on standby, having only a WR, OL and S available from the DSFL side of the house. I think if you go with QB for the first pick and take Boucher here you're addressing the core of the teams needs. Espeically since Austin is running with two TE's on the roster already, and S42 TE Deshawn Penne is also dealing with regression woes. This seems like a solid fit for the Copperheads in the first round...but wait, they're not done shopping. They've got another pick at 11!
9. from
With the ninth overall pick the Butchers select: TE - Dylan Duma
Duma is the top prospect on the board at this point. Chicago has no TE on the roster currently and several call ups waiting (3 QB's, 2 DE's, 1 LB and two more S's). I dont know how Chicago plays TE, so this could be a big opportunity for the TE or it could wind up being a position to which Duma is further relegated to being an additional blocker. However Chicago could look to replace the aging WR soevil - from S36. Which could result in Duma getting some looks as on offensive weapon. I have no idea, I'm not in the war room. Don't listen to me.
10. from
With the 10th pick in the draft, NOLA Secondline chooses: TE - Ignatious Cleetington.
NOLA continues the full blown rebuild, but still has a pick in the first round. With it they pick the best remaining TE on the board. I'm not tooting my own horn at all on this pick, so lets keep going.
11. from
Jeez...Austin is picking again - with the 11th overall, Austin takes: WR - Anakin Skywalker
Austin has WR Leanthony Davis waiting on call-ups, but will look to the future to replace aging WRs Zaphod Beeblebrox from S36 and Delores Bickerman from S37. I think they can do no wrong going with Anakin Skywalker here. At this point on the board they are the top offensive prospect and FSF is a great user who is secretly a veteran presence in the league. I think this is a great pick for Austing and could address a position of need for the Copperheads.
12. from
why is the league giving Sarasota and Austin all these first rounds picks? with the 12thoveral pick, Sarasota selects: LB - Gaius Gleel
That roster needs some fresh new TPE, with the earlier pickup of Sutha on offense and Sparrow on defense, I think Sarasota has a safe bet here taking another top defensive prospect. Gleel is the top eligible LB on the board at this point and adds to the LB corps already on the roster. Sarasota has King DeeDee waiting on call-ups, but could use the help to fill the inbound regression wholes at LB, about to be opened up by S36 linebacker duos - Justin Cloud and Aqeel Steele.
13.
Back on the clock at 13th overall, the Hawks select: RB - Oskar Clark
With two agining RB's on the roster currently and nary a call up to be seen waiting on deck, RB makes sense as a pick here for the Hawks. Their RB corps is currently comprised of S35's Kumquat Archipelago and S36's Ceti Pyxis. Thats it. Oskar Clark is a great pick here at the top RB on the board and gets the chance to potentially make an impact right away. I think this is a great pick that fills a need right away, and since I'm already over 2k words we are moving on to the final pick.
14.
With the 14th pick overal and the final pick of the first round, the Outlaws select:WR - Tyler Hunt
The Outlaws do have some aging defensive pieces with DT - Raphael McTurtle S33, and DT - Emerson Quinn S36. But they also have DT Scruffy the Janitor waiting for the call. DT could make sense here. But they also might need to fill an offensive need with S34 WR "Captain" Billy Stinkwater starting to take some TPE hits. I dont know where there second picks fall, but they are definitely going to want to pick up their GM CB recreate early, so maybe they make a trade here? I also think its possible they dont take Iman Outlaw with 1OA since its likely that player is going to the Outlaws anyway. I think they could make an offensive pick here and pick up an speed back to strengthen the RB room. Its really tough to say what they do with this pick. But I think they go with WR here and take Tyler Hunt as the best WR on the board at this point. who knows. Honestly this pick is confusing and a little frustrating. Maybe they trade away 1OA and take Iman here, that changes the whole board. How they heck does a player even get to claim their draft team in the first place? Boy that would be great to see Iman go to another team.
Alright folks there you have. thats the whole first round from yours truly. Don't put to much stock into any of this as I have no idea what I am talking about or doing. Its interesting though that we have a team with 3 first round picks and a team with 1OA and a player who could go 1OA. I think the most interesting thing we are going to see are some of the possible trades. Can't wait to find out. Maybe I do a revision to this. maybe not, maybe I'll do round two...and then again maybe I wont. But this was fun.
So here it is folks. Another ISFL mock, this one brought to you by the voice of the DSFL...yours truly. So how did I come up with this mock? First I'll say this is a total crap shoot.
