Hope y'all had a great xmas day and presents were what you expected. Here is a view at the ISFL with the regular season having only 3 weeks left to play.
Worst things first: There is one team each in the ASFC and the NSFC who can concentrate on next season because the teams are eliminated from the playoffs. In the ASFC this is the New Orleans Secondline with a record of 3-10 and in the NSFC it is the Yellowknife Wraiths with a record of 4-9.
Looking at the standings after week 13 of 16 the top team in the ASFC are the Honolulu Hahalua with a record of 8-5 and in the ISFC it is the Sarasota Sailfish with a league best record of 9-4. The remaining five teams in the ASFC have a record of either 7-6 (Austin, Arizona and New York) or 6-7 (Orange County and San Jose). In the ISFC the Colorado Yeti are sitting in place #2 with a 8-5 record followed by Baltimore and Chicago with a 7-6 record and Berlin and Cape Town have a 6-7 record. All these teams are pretty much in the hunt for a playoff spot.
When Berlin and Cape Town play against each other in week 14 the loser of that game will be eliminated. The remaining schedule for the two teams with a 7-6 record in the NSFC is as follows:
Baltimore will play at Sarasota (2.39) and at home against the Berlin Fire Salamanders (1.47) and the Yellowknife Wraiths (1.50).
Chicago plays at home against Yellowknife (1.50) and Colorado (1.77) and finishes the regular season with a road game at the Arizona Outlaws (2.04). Based on the power ratings which are the numbers in the parenthesis the final record for Baltimore should be 9-7 and for Chicago the same.
Colorado's last three games will be at Honolulu (1.87) and at Chicago (1.88) and finishes the season at home against the Cape Town Crash (1.65). Again based on the power ratings the final record for Colorado should also be 9-7. The top team in the league Sarasota has the easiest rest program with playing 3 of the bottom four teams based on power ratings and this will give the top four teams in the NSFC like this:
1. Sarasota 12-4
2. Colorado 9-7
3. Baltimore 9-7
4. Chicago 9-7
Breaking down the ISFC we have to look at the remainder of the schedule for all six teams (not at New Orleans) to figure out what the final standing and therefore the playoff teams will be:
Honolulu will play at home against Colorado, at San Jose and finish the season with another home game against New Orleans. Based on power ratings all games should be won and Honolulu will finish the regular season with a 11-5 record.
Austin's remaining schedule is at home against the San Jose Saber Cats and finishes the season with two road games at Arizona and at Orange County. Looking at the power ratings and give the home teams a slight edge the record for Austin at the end of the regular season should be 8-8.
The Arizona Copperheads will play in week 14 at the Orange County Otters and finish the season with two home games against Austin and Chicago. By far the toughest remaining schedule the Copperheads should end up with a 9-7 record.
The New York Silverbacks will finish at New Orleans and with two home games against the Orange County Otters and the San Jose Saber Cats. Looking at the power rankings again and also give the home team a slight edge the Silverbacks should finish the season 10-6.
The Orange County Otters standing at 6-7 will finish the season with a home game against the Arizona Outlaws followed by a away game at the New York Silverbacks and finish the season at home against the Austin Copperheads. The schedule will most likely give the Otters a record at the end of the season of 8-8. The last team to look at will be the San Jose Saber Cats who also sit at a 6-7 record before the final three weeks of regular season play. The remaining schedule In week 14 the Saber Cats will visit the Austin Copperheads followed by a home game against the Honolulu Hahalua and week 16 the Saber Cats will play at the New York Silverbacks. Based on power ranking and home team advantage the games will all be lost and the final record for the Saber Cats will be 6-10. Based on all these predictions the finals standings for the ASFC will look like this giving the tiebreaker between Austin and Orange County to Orange County assuming the Otters beat the Copperheads in week 16:
1. Honolulu 11-5
2. New York 10-6
3. Arizona 9-7
4. Orange County 8-8
5. Austin 8-8
6. San Jose 6-10
Now let the games begin.
