Bell Peepo had a fairly plain entry season in the ISFL. After a few solid years of production in Norfolk, lingering there longer than most long time users tend to do in the DSFL, Peepo, who changed his name from Bell Pepper shortly after entering the rookie draft, finally got the call. He managed three interceptions, defended 13 passes, and forced a single fumble that he was unable to recover. He failed to generate any real awards buzz, which I imagine is hard to do as a rookie cornerback given the only real sexy stat there is interceptions, which are hard to come by even under the best of circumstances, and especially tricky when you only have around 500 TPE. In a postseason chat with a recorder, of which no recording was produced, the reporter claims Peepo made a joke along the lines of “I ought to write a book called ‘So, Your Rookie Season Was a Dud’ that I can give out to other rookies who struggle to live up to whatever expectations are placed on them.” Peepo has ignited some controversy, adamantly denying that any such comment was made and indicating that he is happy with his role on the team and believes that he and his coaches are on the same page with regards to his ability to develop and produce results at the ISFL level. Plenty of questions still linger, though. The uncertainty of football in general, and especially simulated dot football, is part of what makes the stats side of things fun. The sim gives a bit of a weird metric since we DO have an objective measure of which player should generally be better in TPE, but it often doesn’t play out that way because of different builds, different teams, and different outcomes in the sim, which generally just feels like a fancy game of chance to me most of the time. In any case, Peepo has indicated that he plans on hitting the practice fields hard come training camp and hoping to help the Yeti defense continue to dominate the league. He wants to take as much out of the random hands of the sim as he possibly can.
