Hello everyone! With the close of the regular season, it’s time for the final edition of the Dominator Power Rankings! If you need a refresher on how the Dominator Scores were calculated, please see here.
Previous Editions: Week 4, Week 7, Week 10, Week 13
As this is the final edition for the season, we will include some season summary thoughts as well as trying to identify team MVPs throughout the season. If you make it all the way to the end, I was able to figure out a fun visual for the season!
On a more personal note, I want to thank everyone that has enjoyed these rankings over the past 3 seasons. It has been a lot of fun (and very lucrative!) to make these on a weekly basis. But my time that is available to regularly create these is dwindling. So I regret to inform all of you that this will be the final weekly edition of Dominator Power Rankings that I write. If anyone is interested in picking this up, I’d be happy to pass the torch.
Onto the rankings!
14. Honolulu Hahalua (2-14)
Previous Rank: 14th (-10.341)
Dominator Score: -13.218
% of Time Winning: 19.29%
% of Time Losing: 56.58%
Most Dominating Performance: Week 6 Win vs. New York - Dominator Score: 9.229
Team MVPs: (3 Player of the Game Awards Each)
QB Leonard McRobinson (@shadyshoelace) 2328 Pass YDS, 15 TD, 7 INT, 244 Rush YDS, 1 TD
LB Maxwell Jacob Friedman (@JuOSu) 137 Tackles, 9 TFL, 2 FF, 14 Sacks, 1 INT, 7 PD
Preseason Prediction: 10-6, 3rd Place in ASFC
After some early season struggles, the tank was on in Honolulu. After many picked Honolulu to be the best team in the ISFL (40% of Season Predictions), the season was a wash after the Hahalua’s firesale early in the season. This was by far the team I was most wrong about at the beginning of the season.
13. Berlin Fire Salamanders (5-11)
Previous Rank: 13th (-7.711)
Dominator Score: -6.756
% of Time Winning: 31.05%
% of Time Losing: 46.83%
Most Dominating Performance: Week 6 Win vs. Chicago - Dominator Score: 9.693
Team MVP: (4 Player of the Game Awards)
QB Adrian St. Christmas (@nunccoepi) 2210 Pass YDS, 15 TD, 5 INT
Preseason Prediction: 5-11, 7th Place in the NSFC
The Fire Salamanders started out the year 3-3 and seemed like they might be able to overachieve and fight for a playoff spot. However, after the swap of QBs, the season went sideways. The Dominator Preseason Prediction was spot on for this one.
12. New Orleans Secondline (4-12)
Previous Rank: 8th (-3.262)
Dominator Score: -5.499
% of Time Winning: 37.21%
% of Time Losing: 46.70%
Most Dominating Performance: Week 9 Win vs. Cape Town - Dominator Score: 17.306
Team MVP: (5 Player of the Game Awards)
RB Kyle Crane (@Ultimatedestroye) 1157 Rush YDS, 10 TD, 676 Rec YDS, 3 TD
Preseason Prediction: 7-9, 7th Place in the NSFC
The Dominator Score prediction heading into the season predicted a much bigger step forward for the Secondline then what actually transpired. New Orleans just couldn’t catch a break with 4 losses of less than 3 points. It appeared that a midseason turnaround was in store but after 4 straight wins, the Secondline lost 6 straight games to close out another disappointing season.
11. Colorado Yeti (6-10)
Previous Rank: 12th (-4.672)
Dominator Score: -4.877
% of Time Winning: 29.83%
% of Time Losing: 51.61%
Most Dominating Performance: Week 10 Win vs. Berlin - Dominator Score: 19.256
Team MVP: (5 Player of the Game Awards)
LB Waylen Green (@fnordypsyduck) 111 Tackles, 15 TFL, 4 FF, 3 FR, 14 Sacks, 6 PD
Preseason Prediction: 9-7, 2nd Place in the NSFC
The Yeti were finally able to put together success after they were a little too far back in the playoff hunt for it to make much of a difference. Their 5-2 record over the last 7 games hopefully can act as a springboard for them into S47. The Dominator Score prediction was off three wins on this team for the second year in a row.
10. Chicago Butchers (8-8)
Previous Rank: 10th (-4.391)
Dominator Score: -1.992
% of Time Winning: 35.19%
% of Time Losing: 41.10%
Most Dominating Performance: Week 16 Win vs. Colorado - Dominator Score: 9.470
Team MVPs: (2 Player of the Game Awards Each)
QB Painted Penguin (@Painted) 4069 YDS, 32 TD, 14 INT
DE GOAT TANNK (@Eldorian) 31 Tackles, 4 TFL, 1 FF, 1 FR, 11 Sacks
Preseason Prediction: 7-9, 3rd Place in the NSFC
Poor conference play ultimately doomed Chicago this season where they went 4-8 on the season. A tiebreaker away from still competing in the playoffs, the Butchers were able to go on a tear to end the season with a 5-1 record over the last six games. The Dominator Score prediction was only a game off this time and a tiebreaker away from placing them in the standings correctly.
9. New York Silverbacks (7-9)
Previous Rank: 9th (-3.415)
Dominator Score: -1.616
% of Time Winning: 39.64%
% of Time Losing: 41.15%
Most Dominating Performance: Week 14 vs. Honolulu - Dominator Score: 23.021
Team MVPs: (4 Player of the Game Awards Each)
RB Frank Dux (@ComebackZak) 1423 Rush YDS, 12 TD, 557 Rec YDS, 8 TD
LB Teemo Swift (@Repgnar) 104 Tackles, 4 TFL, 4 FF, 4 FR, 15 Sacks, 8 PD
Preseason Prediction: 8-8, 6th Place in the ASFC
Another team that heated up after their playoff chances were gone, the Silverbacks played spoiler in winning 3 straight games against playoff bound teams toward the end of the season. The Dominator Score prediction was off by just a game for New York.
8. Yellowknife Wraiths (8-8)
Previous Rank: 7th (-0.337)
Dominator Score: -1.428
% of Time Winning: 30.64%
% of Time Losing: 47.81%
Most Dominating Performance: Week 3 Win vs. Sarasota - Dominator Score: 23.376
Team MVP: (6 Player of the Game Awards)
RB Money Tolliver (@jeffie43) 1497 Rush YDS, 9 TD, 718 Rec YDS, 3 TD
Preseason Prediction: 6-10, 6th Place in the NSFC
While the Dominator Score prediction placed the Wraiths out of the playoffs, the second half of the season saw Yellowknife slowly fade with a record of 2-5 to close out the season. While the playoffs offer a fresh start for the Wraiths, recent play suggests a quick end to the “Year of the Joker”.
7. Sarasota Sailfish (9-7)
Previous Rank: 11th (-4.602)
Dominator Score: 0.199
% of Time Winning: 41.42%
% of Time Losing: 38.11%
Most Dominating Performance: Week 15 Win vs. Cape Town - Dominator Score: 20.424
Team MVP: (6 Player of the Game Awards)
RB Ace Anderson (@DangWookie) 1323 Rush YDS, 8 TD, 592 Rec YDS, 4 TD
Preseason Prediction: 9-7, 1st Place in the NSFC
While the Dominator Score prediction for wins was spot on for Sarasota, it took a late season three game win streak to put them in playoff position. The Sailfish have been a confusing team of losing big and then winning close games. Of course, they are coming on strong at the right time and have a chance to make it back to the Ultimus for the 2nd season in a row.
6. San Jose SaberCats (9-7)
Previous Rank: 6th (2.025)
Dominator Score: 1.068
% of Time Winning: 40.21%
% of Time Losing: 43.57%
Most Dominating Performance: Week 3 Win vs. Orange County - Dominator Score: 19.937
Team MVP: (4 Player of the Game Awards)
LB DJ Maclean (@Urq660) 120 Tackles, 13 TFL, 5 FF, 1 FR, 11 Sacks, 2 INT, 8 PD, 1 TD
Preseason Prediction: 8-8, 4th Place in the ASFC
After one of the best starts possible to begin the season, the SaberCats just couldn’t keep up with the best teams in their conference. After going a combined 1-5 against the ASFC playoff teams, San Jose was just a step below the competition. The 4th place spot predicted at the beginning of the season feels like the right spot for the SaberCats.
5. Cape Town Crash (7-9)
Previous Rank: 5th (3.819)
Dominator Score: 1.151
% of Time Winning: 45.81%
% of Time Losing: 33.71%
Most Dominating Performance: Week 10 Win vs. Yellowknife - Dominator Score: 23.614
Team MVP: (9 Player of the Game Awards)
Nakiri Ayame (@ValorX77) 1470 Rush YDS, 7 TD, 991 Rec YDS, 6 TD
Preseason Prediction: 6-10, 5th Place in the NSFC
The preseason prediction that got the most pushback ended up only a game away with the correct finish. The Crash were a confusing team this season and a late season collapse kept them out of the playoffs. A definite run first team with a rookie quarterback, the Crash will look to rebound next season as they finished highest on this list for a team not in the playoffs.
4. Austin Copperheads (10-6)
Previous Rank: 3rd (7.411)
Dominator Score: 6.960
% of Time Winning: 53.27%
% of Time Losing: 25.25%
Most Dominating Performance: Week 5 Win vs. New York - Dominator Score: 20.154
Team MVP: (5 Player of the Game Awards)
LB Crasher Wake (@ZodiacEXE) 110 Tackles, 8 TFL, 3 FF, 2 FR, 23 Sacks, 6 PD, 1 TD
Preseason Prediction: 8-8, 5th Place in the ASFC
The Copperheads were able to continue their hot streak from winning the Ultimus as they remained the last undefeated team until their first loss in Week 7. Since then, Austin has been unable to string back to back wins together and has actually only won 1 of their last 4 games. With a chance to defend their Ultimus in sight, the Copperheads are once again the underdogs looking to go on a run. Will Austin be able to exceed expectations once again?
3. Orange County Otters (12-4)
Previous Rank: 4th (5.179)
Dominator Score: 7.024
% of Time Winning: 50.80%
% of Time Losing: 31.12%
Most Dominating Performance: Week 9 Win vs. Arizona - Dominator Score: 22.534
Team MVPs: (8 Player of the Game Awards Each)
RB Reginald Shrubbery (@shrub02) 1396 Rush YDS, 12 TD, 783 Rec YDS, 7 TD
LB Sim Sunigh (@SimmiZ) 120 Tackles, 8 TFL, 5 FF, 2 FR, 20 Sacks, 2 INT, 9 PD, 1 TD
Preseason Prediction: 12-4, 1st Place in the ASFC
The Dominator Score prediction’s favorite team going into S46, the Otters are one of the hottest teams in the ISFL behind an opportunistic defense and top play from their running back. With some midseason trades to add to the defense, the Otters are all in for the S46 Ultimus.
2. Baltimore Hawks (12-4)
Previous Rank: 1st (11.009)
Dominator Score: 7.997
% of Time Winning: 44.14%
% of Time Losing: 31.27%
Most Dominating Performance: Week 12 Win vs. Berlin - Dominator Score: 21.646
Team MVP: (5 Player of the Game Awards)
RB Anakin Skywalker (@ForSucksFake) 1285 Rush YDS, 12 TD, 363 Rec YDS, 2 TD
Preseason Prediction: 7-9, 4th Place in the NSFC
The biggest surprise of season according to the Dominator Score predictions, the Hawks have been led by an efficient offense and dominating defense. Tying for the highest turnover differential, Baltimore has made the most of those opportunities as they have both the highest scoring offense and top scoring defense in the ISFL. The Hawks look to keep up the efficient play to get back to Ultimus.
1. Arizona Outlaws (13-3)
Previous Rank: 2nd (9.289)
Dominator Score: 10.807
% of Time Winning: 57.60%
% of Time Losing: 20.31%
Most Dominating Performance: Week 12 Win vs. Honolulu - Dominator Score: 23.182
Team MVP: (4 Player of the Game Awards)
LB Sherwin Blue Jr. (@Kotasa) 99 Tackles, 9 TFL, 3 FF, 3 FR, 17 Sacks, 9 PD, 1 TD
Preseason Prediction: 10-6, 2nd Place in the ASFC
The Outlaws once again find themselves atop the Dominator Rankings at the conclusion of the regular season. Last season didn’t turn out too well as Arizona will look to take the Ultimus once again. While the Dominator Score prediction didn’t give the Outlaws enough credit heading into the season, the Outlaws will need to show that they can back up their top spot in these rankings.
You’ve made it to the end of the rankings and I promised you at the beginning a fun visual to represent the season.
