The ultimus is over, and with that so is S46. Now it's S47 offseason, and this means the time of DSFL scouting is looming closer to us S48 players, who are eagerly awaiting to be scouted and drafted to the DSFL team where we'll spend the entirety of our DSFL careers. So I thought it would be a good idea for me to pop out an article with generic scouting points like I did with my former player, Simon the Frog, and let the DSFL scouts be spared from having to ask me the same questions which they are bound to ask all the prospects over and over again. This way I can be spared from being asked the same set of questions 8 times (hopefully) over, and I can have a much more pleasant kind of scouting conversation with DSFL scouts. (or that was the result from last time). So without further ado, let's get to the main article!
The player side
Really, there is not much to write here. My belief is that sim league drafts - whether it be ISFL or DSFL draft - should be more about the user behind the player rather than the player itself. But even then, it's hard to argue that the player side of things - aspects like TPE level and builds - can have some value to the scouts. So here I'll be listing the general details of my player, Robot Sunfish.
At this moment, Sunfish sit at 140TPE, which is near the top of the S48 class in terms of TPE. And when Sunfish sees the field with the new team in week 1, S47, it's most likely that he'll be around 160TPE, considering offseason task (which I just completed), activity checks and weekly trainings. You can expect Sunfish to be approaching or achieve DSFL cap of 250TPE at the conclusion of his DSFL season, and for him to play full season as a maxed player if he is sent down following the ISFL draft.
Considering the player TPE level and potential callups, my assumption for Sunfish's role will be LB2, one of the pass rushing OLBs. And as a pass rusher archetype player, Sunfish is basically custom built for that role. But even if he lands on a team with good depth and becomes LB3, where he'll be asked to be an off- ball linebacker, I'm pretty sure he'll do just fine since Sunfish has a speed- centric build with 80 speed, and after all this is DSFL where everyone's build is significantly flawed at some point or another. He won't be getting a lot of interceptions with his 20 hands, though.
At this moment, my progression plan for Sunfish is to focus on strength and agility during his DSFL career. His speed will be staying at 80 until he goes up to ISFL, as I felt anything more than that was just too much of a luxury in a 250TPE DSFL build. However, the most important thing here is that the build plan here is most definitely not final, and I am always more than willing to listen to build advises of GMs, and adjust my player build to help the team as much as I could within reason (that means no position or arch switch, and I'll elaborate more on this later).
The user side
Alright, now this is the real deal. In here I'll be discussing everything from my TPE earning plan to my draft requests.
As many of you who read my article know, I'm a max earner. Sunfish is my third player, with my first player William Lim being a HOF wide receiver who peaked out at 1428TPE, and my second player Simon the Frog being a solid starter for YKW peaking at 944TPE. One thing you should consider about this latter player is the fact that I was drafted to the military about halfway through its career, and went IA because of that (obviously it's kinda hard to earn dot football TPE inside a military base haha). For people who think that I have a risk of going IA because of Simon, rest assured. My conscription ended about a month ago, and I should be free to earn and be a max earner that I always was when I was active.
Money wise, I have more than enough to support Sunfish through a max earning career without earning a single penny. At the moment my bank balance sits at around $162M. And while that alone is enough money to last for around 8 seasons of max earning (As from what I recall T6 equipment + 7 weekly trainings cost 20.5M), I will be actively adding more money through Sunfish's career to replenish what I have spent. I will earn money through media (like I'm doing right now), and I also plan to get a league job back down the line, having been a rookie mentor, DSFL GM and DSFL HO member back in the day. So the bottom line is that you'll never have to worry about me running out of money during my DSFL tenure (or really any point of Sunfish's career, but we're just talking about DSFL here).
Regarding Stats, I'm not pushing for any awards. I really don't know if there are any users in the DSFL who demand number 1 spot of their position regardless of TPE level, but you can be rest assured I'm not one of those. I had my fill of good stats with Lim, so I'm not going to demand anything anytime, let alone in DSFL. I'm here to have a good time with the team, and if possible collect an ultimini trophy, which I never had a chance of earning. (almost got it this last season with Minnesota, but that flew out of the windown when they were brutally simmed out of the playoff by the hands of London) So just put me wherever that makes the team perform well, and I'll be happy. Oh, and as this is DSFL and the whole point of DSFL is to develop new users, I'm willing to hand over some stats to rookie users in order to get them more engaged. That means that if there is a well- earning rookie linebacker in the same team, I'll gladly hand over the higher LB spot to him/ her to get them more stats, which I know is one of the things that help keep rookies in the league during the crucial first season.
While I know that some recreate users request that they be drafted to a certain team, I'm not that kind of a user. My favorite time in ISFL is draft season where I am involved in it. So why would spoil the fun in it by requesting that I be drafted by a certain team? As some of you know I'm a user with strong Dallas ties, having GMd the team for 3 seasons and having been a war room member there for about 10 seasons. But you guys really don't have to worry about me wanting to go back to Dallas, as I'll happily play for any team that drafts me, the Birddogs included. This statement is backed by my second player, who was a Bondi Beach Buccaneer. My mantra in draft season is "I'll see how it goes", and I intend to do exactly that this time around.
Speaking of teams, I do have one request regarding the draft. It's that I want to be drafted by a team that scouted me. As a former DSFL war room member, GM and HO, my firm belief is that every player (or better put off every active player) in a draft class should be scouted. At this moment this draft class is 46 players strong (counting 2 who are unapproved), and it shouldn't take very much for a functional DSFL war room to scout that number of players, considering a significant amount of that number will be inactive. And even when a team wouldn't be able to scout all the prospects, I deem it a common courtesy to scout the players whom they have interest in drafting. I mean, shouldn't you know what you're going to get in a player before drafting one? So a team drafts me without scouting me, I'll be very unhappy about it regardless of draft position. In this kind of scenario you are most likely to see me demanding a trade out of the team. In scouting, I don't expect lengthy conversations or certain questions asked. Hell, the very reason why I'm writing this media piece right now is to avoid having same questions asked over and over again. Mostly, I just want a team's scout to say hi, and have some chat. Good and long converstaion will just be the cherry on top. My goal in this offseason is to be scouted by all 8 DSFL teams, so please help me achieving that goal!
Now that we got the hard bit out of the way, let's talk about what I am going to bring to a DSFL team as a user. First off, I'm reasonably discord active. While I won't be the "number 1 in the server mee6 bot" kind of a guy, you can expect to see me in locker rooms regularly if it's active. I'll almost certainly hang out during game streams (unless I have something going on irl), and will be around to chat and hang around quite often. One thing you should know about me here is that I'm east asian (Korean to be exact), so my active hours are quite weird. I'll be mostly active during US evening, night and early morning hours, and I won't be around in US daytime. So if there's a DSFL locker room with a lot of international guys, I'll like it a lot and probably will be very active in there. If there's only US guys, you'll see me in evenings and early mornings, and you'll see me poaching pokemons in pokecord (if your server has any) during nights. Whatever is the case, I have adjusted to being in a sim league where most of the people are half a world away, and will be a big contributor on any locker room as long as it's not dead. Sorry, but I'm not enough of an extrovert to start a whole new conversation when no one is talking.
Apart from that, I bring a few other things to the table. While I know nothing about the sim and builds of most positions (I will need assistance in building my LB lmao), I do know something about building speedy players- i.e. WRs and CBs, and I'm able to provide some advice on those players' builds, however outdated to the meta they might be. Also, being a former RM and HO member, I generally can answer your questions about league rules/ procedures, which I think can be helpful in DSFL where there's bound to be a lot of users who are new here.
Well, this is the end of my self- written scouting report, and I really hope that this draft season will be fun for all draftees/ war room members/ GMs who are involved. I'll end this article wishing all GMs and war room members luck in this DSFL draft, because we sure need a lot of luck in this potshot
Also, props for Norfolk for being first to scout!
