I made a mock draft!
If any of you guys have been reading media over the last week or so you’re probably getting sick of reading stuff I’ve written lol, but I’ve tried my hand at a DSFL mock draft after the excitement of the ISFL draft last night.
I’ve kept it to 4 rounds and have tried to address team needs where I could. I’ve also tried to prioritise true rookie players over recreates to give them more exposure, as opposed to recreates who may already been known to long term users.
*Disclaimer: Needs are from when I checked the rosters prior to the ISFL draft, they may have changed with players lost to the ISFL but I didn’t want to waste all of this work lol
Hope you enjoy!
Round 1
1.01 - Portland Pythons
Needs: LB, CB, DL, S, RB
Willeh Strong - LB
Highest TPE for a true rookie at a position of need for the Pythons, as well as being very active on the forums and discord, and producing media to maximise TPE earnings. This isn’t the first time Willeh has been mocked one overall, but I haven’t seen enough from anyone else to knock him off his perch.
1.02 - Norfolk Seawolves
Needs: OL, WR, DL, LB, S
Big Tractor - OL
Sitting at 125 TPE as a true rookie, Big Tractor has the power behind him to bolster a pretty weak offensive line in Norfolk. An absolute mauler in the run game, Tractor should really help the Seawolves find their feet on offense after a disappointing season last time out.
1.03 - Bondi Beach Buccaneers
Needs: CB, LB, WR, S, OL
Tyler Oles III - CB
Tyler Oles III uses a strong showing on day 1 of the prospect bowl to catapult himself up draft boards and into the top of the first round. A recreate from a user with a historical knack for producing lockdown corners, Oles III bring ps some much needed play making ability to the Bucs secondary.
1.04 - Kansas City Coyotes
Needs: S, DE, WR, LB
Rex Havoc - DE
With a fairly complete roster, Kansas City are in the fortunate position where they can look to upgrade at a position, rather than fill a hole. While they have 2 DEs on the roster, both are low TPE and they could be looking to upgrade. True rookie Rex Havoc has shown good activity recently and has started to produce media, meaning he could be a gamble with high payoff if he continues on this trajectory.
1.05 - Tijuana Luchadores
Needs: LB, DL, CB
Robot Sunfish - LB
Tijuana Luchadores find themselves in the position to essentially draft BPA on the defensive side of the ball, as they need solid recruitment across the board. I have Tijuana playing safe and going with a known commodity and highest TPE in the class, recreate LB Robot Sunfish.
1.06 - Minnesota Grey Ducks
Needs: WR, LB
Seer Ial - WR
Minnesota have a strong roster across the board, and will be looking to add talent that can get them over their playoff slump. In this situation, Minnesota turn to swing for the fences and take a chance on the highest TPE WR in the class in recreate Seer Ial. The speedy receiver upgrades WR3 for the Ducks, providing them with a bit more spark on offense to, hopefully, get them over the edge.
1.07 - London Royals
Needs: TE, S, LB
Alexandros Sotiris - S
While quiet on discord, rookie Alexandros Sotiris has been active on the forums recording 19 posts. One of the higher TPE true rookies in the class, the Royals take a chance on an active rookie, hoping his post history implies strong TPE earning and continued activity across the seasons to come.
1.08 - Dallas Birddogs
Needs: OL, CB, LB
Stone Wall - OL
Sitting at 92 TPE with a healthy bank balance and extensive posting history, true rookie OL Wall has been creeping up draft boards as of late, and if he can show more activity on discord between now and the draft I see no reason why he can’t sneak into the back end of the first to bolster the Birddogs offensive line.
Round 2
2.01 - Portland Pythons
Needs: LB ✅, CB, DL, S, RB
Zigzag Zipstep - RB
With some of defensive issues addressed in the first round, Portland turn their focus to the offensive side of the ball and take the highest TPE player in the draft in recreate RB Zipstep. Zipstep impressed on day 1 of the prospect bowl, gaining 4.7 yards per attempt on the ground. He adds some much needed big-play threat to the Pythons backfield.
2.02 - Norfolk Seawolves
Needs: OL✅, WR, DL, LB, S
GCBWRNW Princess Donut - DT
After investing in the offensive line in round 1, the Seawolves turn their attention to the other side of the trenches, adding a mammoth of a player to the interior of the defensive line. Princess Donut is one of the max TPE earners in the class at 146 TPE, and will add some much need beef to the Norfolk front.
2.03 - Bondi Beach Buccaneers
Needs: CB✅, LB, WR, S, OL
Adolin Collins - LB
Continuing the trend of this strong LB class, Collins will be a fantastic addition to a depleted Bucaneers defence. Bolstering the second level with one of the top TPE earners at the position, after attacking the secondary in round 1, should give this defence the best chance to succeed going into the coming season.
2.04 - Kansas City Coyotes
Needs: S, DE✅, WR, LB
Leonardo DaPinchi - S
A recreate from a big name user in the league, DaPinchi offers some solidity to the safety position that would really add the finishing touches to a Coyote defence that looks to make a real impact in the coming season. Addressing the D line in round 1 and adding a strong centre fielder in round 2 should give opposing passing attacks nightmares.
2.05 - Tijuana Luchadores
Needs: LB✅, DL, CB
Lheorvine Adebisi - DT
As I said above, Tijuana needs reinforcements across the defence and adding a versatile defensive lineman to the middle of the front 7, alongside round 1 LB Sunfish, should go a long way to improving a defence that struggled in seasons past. Adebisi is in contention for DT1 for me in this class, narrowly missing out here to Princess Donut in a close contest that really is a ‘pick your favourite flavour’ kind of toss up.
2.06 - Minnesota Grey Ducks
Needs: WR✅, LB
Mac Mannheim - LB
Having addressed their main need at WR in round 1, the Grey Ducks look to upgrade the bottom of the roster and decide to take a shot on rookie LB Mannheim. While not a top TPE earner in the class, Mannheim has earned well early in his career, and increased activity on the forums and discord in recent times mean the Ducks feel confident enough to take a swing on him as he sneaks into the back end of the 2nd round.
2.07 - London Royals
Needs: TE, S✅, LB
Finn Murphy - LB
Continuing the trend of LBs going early in this draft, the Royals look to prospect bowl tackle leader Murphy to bolster the middle of their defence. Coming into the draft with 118 TPE, Murphy really made a splash at the prospect bowl, compiling 26 tackles over 3 games. His sure handedness through tackles brings some needed grit to the middle of the London LB core.
2.08 - Dallas Birddogs
Needs: OL✅, CB, LB
Gustav Farkas - OL
Dallas can scarcely believe their luck as one of the top TPE earners in the class falls to them at the end of round 2. Having already taken OL in the first, the Birddogs view Farkas as too good to pass on at the back of the 2nd, adding a 146 TPE recreate to their first round pick to create a monstrous offensive line.
Round 3
3.01 - Portland Pythons
Needs: LB✅, CB, DL, S, RB✅
Sam Coverdale - CB
The Python’s return their focus to the defence at the start of round 3, strengthening the secondary with true rookie CB Sam Coverdale. While not one of the top TPE earners from the class as a whole, Coverdale’s TPE production is impressive for the stage he is at in his career, and he has been active on both the forums and discord. Coverdale is a character, and has an air of arrogance about him, a trait required to succeed as a CB in the league.
3.02 - Norfolk Seawolves
Needs: OL✅, WR, DL✅, LB, S
Derrick Prince Jr - WR
After bolstering the trenches with their first 2 picks of this draft, Norfolk seek to add a weapon, more specifically an explosive deep threat, in the 3rd round picking up recreate WR Derrick Prince Jr. Prince Jr has been an impressive TPE earner so far, coming in with the second highest total in the WR class.
3.03 - Bondi Beach Buccaneers
Needs: CB✅, LB✅, WR, S, OL
Rocket Ride - S
Despite spending their first 2 picks on the defensive side of the ball, I have a feeling the Buccaneers won’t be done there and will continue to bolster the defence with recreate S Rocket Ride, the top TPE earner at his position in the class. A true centre fielder, Ride will pair really well with their previous picks to help reinvigorate a pass defence that struggled last season.
3.04 - Kansas City Coyotes
Needs: S✅, DE✅, WR, LB
Mako Mendonca Jr - LB
Kansas City continue the overhaul of their defence as well, adding a strong TPE earner at LB to finalise the improvements made at all 3 levels of the defence. Expect the Coyotes to look like a different team in the defensive side of the ball next year after adding playmakers front to back.
3.05 - Tijuana Luchadores
Needs: LB✅, DL✅, CB
Widdle Warrick - CB
My initial analysis of the Luchadores roster was that they needed to recruit across the board on the defensive side of the ball. Hence why I have them continuing the trend of bolstering the defence throughout the first 3 rounds of the draft. After addressing the defensive line and LB in rounds 1 and 2, I have Tijuana addressing their issues in the secondary with the strongest remaining CB in the class. Recreate Widdle Warrick has been a good TPE earner so far, and should be a solid addition to the Luchadores cornerback room.
3.06 - Minnesota Grey Ducks
Needs: WR✅, LB✅
Animal Blundetto - RB
Having addressed their main needs, the Grey Ducks find themselves in a position to take the best player left on their board. I have that being Animal Blundetto, a strong downhill runner who excels through contact and in short yardage situations. Blundetto is a recreate RB who has earnt TPE at an impressive rate so far, and finds himself as RB2 going to a team looking to make a deep playoff running in the coming season.
3.07 - London Royals
Needs: TE, S✅, LB✅
Cleetus Beauregard - TE
Having already addressed their holes on the defensive side of the ball, the Royals turn their attention to the offense and take TE1 in the class. While Beauregard had a disappointing day 1 in the prospect bowl, he is the clear TE1 in the class from a TPE perspective and looks to provide further weaponry to a strong team looking to get over the edge.
3.08 - Dallas Birddogs
Needs: OL✅, CB, LB
Jet Larsen - CB
Further adding to the round 3 run on CBs, Dallas look to add a physical playmaker to their secondary after fortifying the offensive line through rounds 1 and 2. Larsen is a true rookie CB who has been a strong TPE turner so far in the league, and has been active on the forum posting 11 times. With him, the Birddogs look to add a bit more bite to their secondary.
Round 4
4.01 - Portland Pythons
Needs: LB✅, CB✅, DL, S, RB✅
Leroy Jenkins - S
Jenkins has been a solid TPE earner through his young ISFL career, and has shown promising activity on the forums. The Pythons add another piece to an up and coming secondary in order to improve their chances in the coming season.
4.02 - Norfolk Seawolves
Needs: OL✅, WR✅, DL✅, LB, S
Jake Barnes - S
Back to back safety’s to start round 4 as the Sea Wolves add to an already strong defensive secondary. Barnes has shown promise in his early days in the league, earning solid TPE and showing the capacity to be active on the forums. The Seawolves bet on his potential in the early 4th.
4.03 - Bondi Beach Buccaneers
Needs: CB✅, LB✅, WR, S✅, OL
Warren Peace - WR
The creatively named Peace is the highest TPE earner on the board at WR as the Bucs look to add some speed on offense after revamping the defence early in the draft. Peace offers big play threat as a recreate WR and could develop into a valuable weapon for the sand-lovers.
4.04 - Kansas City Coyotes
Needs: S✅, DE✅, WR, LB✅
Moses DeWitt - WR
True rookie DeWitt has shown potential to be a good TPE earner in the league and addresses the Coyotes main remaining weakness on the roster. Having shown flashes in the prospect bowl, the Coyotes bet on the potential of DeWitt. After back to back safety’s, we get back to back WRs at the start of the 4th.
4.05 - Tijuana Luchadores
Needs: LB✅, DL✅, CB✅
Rick Van Vale - DE
The Luchadores double dip on the DL to complete the overhaul of their defence. Unrecognisable after the additions through this draft, rookie Van Vale adds even more beef to the trenches for Tijuana.
4.06 - Minnesota Grey Ducks
Needs: WR✅, LB✅
Goto Imnegs.net - TE
The Grey Ducks continue a strong draft and take BPA again in round 4. Imnegs.net is an interesting prospect as we don’t see many blocking archetype TEs. Minnesota can use him to bolster the running game as well as adding a red zone threat in the passing game.
4.07 - London Royals
Needs: TE✅, S✅, LB✅
Draven Chanos - RB
Having addressed their major needs already, the Royals turn to BPA in the 4th and pick up recreate running back Draven Chanos, RB3 in the class from a TPE perspective. The rich get richer as London add yet another weapon to an already potent attack.
4.08 - Dallas Birddogs
Needs: OL✅, CB✅, LB
Adam Journey - CB
While the Birddogs might like to pick up a LB here, I just don’t think the value is there. Instead I have them double dipping again, taking a second CB to go with their 2 pickups on the offensive line. A strong roster top to bottom, Dallas attack their main 2 weaknesses aggressively through the first 4 rounds.
