Hey y'all, today I'm doing an article similar to what @roastfuego did with the ISFL Scouting department grade. This is my first time joining a sim league and I wanted to share my experience with the different DSFL scouts and their respective teams. This is going to be based on what each team did that was unique, how I found the discussion with them to be, and my interaction with the scouts and GMs throughout the time I've been in the league. I won't go over the standard questions such as "How are you enjoying the league so far?".
As I'm writing this, I am hoping that I have already been drafted as this would be awkward if I graded the team that drafted me poorly. We'll see if I end up getting a laugh out of it like roast did.
My chat with Waldo and the Birddogs was short and to the point. They expressed that LB was a need for them and that I would be able to stay with the position if drafted to them. Aside from a couple other standard questions, we talked about activity and I was invited to the Birddog locker room off the bat. Waldo reached out a bit later than some of the other scouts but still made an impact in the end.
My discussion with LON primarily discussed of different media types to write as well as how kicker weren't people. There were some unique questions as well but the discussion was slightly rushed as I was boarding a plane at the time. London did invite me to their locker room which is always a bonus.
The scouting duo of amkamkamk and daniel were two of the last scouts to reach out to me. I was given tips for ISFL jobs and discussed similar hobbies as well. I was given access to the Grey Duck locker room which has been a lively bunch. A honk tournament is coming up which I am excited to be a part of and it puts MIN apart from other DSFL teams.
I liked my discussion with TIJ as we talked about the Panthers and the dominance of Luke Kuechly when he was in the league. CROney helped me understand some of how the sim worked as well as some ways to get paid in the league. What stuck out from this discussion was them asking what my finishing move as a wrestler would be which was definitely interesting and unique to other teams. Another unique aspect of Tijuana is that they have a closed locker room as opposed to some of the other DSFL teams.
Tim and I discussed my vacation in Florida which was entertaining and then how the Panthers have been which was not. The general questions was pretty brief and to the point but this was another scouting discussion where I was traveling so I may not have gotten the full impact. While I was not invited to the KCC locker room, I really enjoyed my conversation with Tim.
I had to scroll so far up with my conversation with Walter to find the beginning of our scouting talks. Walter deemed me his protégé and we discussed some games we have played (or need to). The BBB were proud to show off their color rush field and mascot which I found awesome to look through. After the initial scouting Walter and I continued to talk about other aspects of the league and a bunch of topics outside the league. As much as I enjoyed my talks with Waltuh, I was never sent a locker room invite to see the BBB activity .
Another scouting duo of Sconnie and JJ are up next. JJ reached out to me the same day I created my player and Sconnie was only a few days behind. I liked talking with both and had multiple discussions with Sconnie about various aspects of the league which put Norfolk up on the board for me. I was given access to the locker room early on which was a plus as well. One thing that stuck out to me about the Seawolves was asking me what my favorite song was. This was then added to a S48 Rookie playlist created by the NOR GMs which was awesome to see.
I had a long discussion with Bamford about Bryce Young and the Panthers which I enjoyed. He brought up a good question about whether I prefer Cam Newton from beginning to end or BY which really made me have to think. While I was not initially invited into the locker room, I was after a bit of prodding (I can be persuasive). I was given tips on media which is always helpful as well. Another bonus of the POR locker room is my Yap Mentor Tyler Higbee II is in it which gives a boost to the DSFL team with the number 1 pick in the draft.
My Scouting Rankings:
1.
The activity and follow ups from the scouts put them at the top, along with the honking tournament that's around the corner.
2.
I have NOR at 2 for their early scouting as well as providing a S48 playlist which sets them apart from all the other teams.
3.
My discussion with Bamford puts POR at 3 (it has nothing to do with Higbee being from here).
4.
The connection with Walter puts BBB at 4, while I have not been in the locker room I have enjoyed talking with their members.
5.
Similar, I have TIJ at 5 without having access to the locker room. Talking with CROney has been very helpful when starting out but I felt more of a connection with the teams above.
6.
My talk with the Birddog scout was short but they have an active locker room to put them at 6.
7.
The London locker room has shown decent off season activity but I did not get to enjoy my scouting discussion as I was pre-occupied preparing to board my flight.
8.
Similar to London, I was preparing to board my flight so did not get the full interaction which was my own fault. I have KCC at the bottom due to this as well as not being in their locker room.
I noticed that the teams that have multiple scouts following up are towards the top, as well as the scouts that I have had longer discussions with as it allows me to have a better connection with them and their teams as well. Hopefully this is not awkward come DSFL draft time on Thursday.
