Hello everyone
Recently it was brought to attention of both ISFL and DSFL Head Office that @SensibleDictator recently has committed two rule violations:
1. Posting a mock draft after the draft had started whilst having behind the scenes information, as per rule VI.B.6
2. Tampering in the rookie server, as per rule V.A.1
The mock draft was posted as media, and as a DSFL GM, Sensibledictator had already received where all of the London Royals' players had been drafted to, as DSFL GMs are provided with this information to help them follow up on potential callups. The tampering occurred openly in the rookie discord server, telling another user on a different ISFL team that they should demand a trade. Both of these are exceptionally clear rule violations.
As a result, SensibleDictator will receive the following punishments for each infraction:
1. Loss of half his S48 GM pay (6M), 1 season probation
2. Loss of full S48 GM Pay (12M) and 1 season probation
This amounts to a total fine of one and half seasons of GM pay (18M) and a 2 season probation.
Note: since the punishments are more then a season of GM pay, Higbee will be fined 6M alongside receiving no pay for GMing in S48. The probation will be for the S48 and S49 season.
The draft leak punishment closely follows both Frick and Mobi's punishments of half GM pay/6m. As with the recent Icebear punishment, HO finds that it would not be appropriate to carry forward the removal of TPE as a part of the punishment. The tampering punishment follows precedent set by the last DSFL GM tampering punishment. Precedent for this can also can be found from the ThunderTitan Tampering case.
As always, SensibleDictator can contact @Attopax or any member of the appeals to appeal either of these punishments.
These are both serious breaches of our rules, as the draft is a critical component of the user experience, and tampering is one of the most significant infractions in the league, second only to rules relating to how we treat one another. These violations become even more serious when committed by a GM, especially so soon after taking on the role. GMs must set an example, demonstrating leadership and adherence to our standards. The discussion within HO primarily focused on whether removal was necessary. On one hand, these were two major infractions by a new GM, who displayed a significant lack of understanding of the rules in discussions with HO. He had forgotten the rules about draft leaks and, regarding tampering, had neither read the rulebook nor seemed to know where to find it. It became clear to HO that, although SensibleDictator brought a great deal of enthusiasm to the role and the league, he might have benefited from more time outside the job to familiarise himself with the league’s rules and processes.
On the other hand, we acknowledged that while posting a mock draft and tampering are serious offenses, they were committed out of ignorance rather than malice. Since no punishment had been administered for the draft leak before the tampering occurred, there was a heated debate about whether probation should have been applied to the draft leak and whether tampering would have violated it. Ultimately, we decided that applying such a measure retroactively would be unfair.
We want to emphasise the importance for those in GM positions, or aspiring to such roles in either league, to fully understand their responsibilities and the higher standards they are held to. It is crucial to take the time to seek mentorship and to shadow others in the war room. This helps prevent learning on the job to the detriment of the league through rule violations or the team through inefficiencies and incapabilities. GMs occupy a crucial role in the league and must go beyond enthusiasm to develop a deep understanding of and capability for their duties.
