An excerpt from a recent Tuscaloosa Times Article that may be of interest to ISFL scouts and general managers as we head into draft season:
"After an unbelievably successful collegiate career with the Alabama Crimson Tide multi-position superstar Martavius Spencer recently announced his intentions to enter the S49 ISFL draft which caught many analysts by surprise. Many draft pundits questioned why Martavius didn't hold out for the S50 ISFL draft given his late decision to leave the Crimson Tide prior to his senior season with many of those pundits suggesting he may have been better off waiting an extra season to provide him an opportunity to further develop in the DSFL before announcing his intentions to enter the ISFL Draft.
We spoke to Martavius this week who explained to us that regardless of the superior experience his peers within the draft may possess he honestly believes that he is the the strongest overall prospect in this draft and wanted us to share with ISFL staff members that if they overlook him in this upcoming draft it will likely be the biggest regret of their careers.
Martavius has flown completely under the radar to this point in the ISFL draft cycle being left completely off league mock drafts and garnering minimal interest from league scouts and managers. Although this comes as a bit of a surprise to local Crimson Tide fans who had the pleasure of watching Martavius dominate the gridiron in Tuscaloosa the past 3 seasons, Martaivus has been embracing this underdog role and suggested to us that he believes he will likely be the biggest late round steal of this years draft to the team that takes a chance on him.
In an effort to boost his own draft stock Martavius asked the Tuscaloosa Times to share the following facts about himself in this article in an attempt to further spread interest about him in the upcoming ISFL draft:
1) Martavius comes from a strong line of former ISFL superstars - His stepfather, Mervin Leonard, was a legendary cornerback drafted in the first round of the S17 ISFL draft and his godfather, Quinton Crash, was also a first round selection during the S29 ISFL draft. As a result of this lineage Martavius knows exactly what it takes to succeed in the league and is looking to follow in their Ultimus winning footsteps;
2) Although Martavius is currently listed as a defensive end he is a freak athlete and is willing and capable of playing any position on the field for the team that drafts him;
3) He is always the first one in and the last one out of the training facility and although he is currently lacking behind some of his draft counterparts in experience he can be counted on to consistently show up to further improve himself;
4) Martavius is a team player through and through and is willing to do whatever it takes to help his team win, even if that means spending additional time in the the DSFL to further develop."
Final word: Don't miss out on the opportunity to add a flexible and proven commodity to your team come draft day. Let's go build a dynasty.
