Through a random lottery drawing, you have been named the league's new commissioner for a day. Congrats! What improvements would you make to the league if you had the power to do whatever you wanted?
I am new to the league, so forgive my inexperience. If I was the new league commissioner for a day, I would do a couple things. I'm not a giant fan of how we update today. I think that it is an unnecessarily manual process. I have been in other leagues that do their updating via a spreadsheet. The process is seamless from both an administrative side and the side of the user. It is also, in my opinion a more visually appealing thing for the user. The second thing I would look at doing is making the process easier for those individuals that have never done a sim before. I really like the fact that we have a dev league. But when I went through this process my first time a couple years ago, the number and difficulty of the rookie tasks was really overwhelming for someone that had never done anything like this. While it is great that everyone says that they are willing to help; when you don't actually know these people and its your first time doing something like this, that offering to help doesn't always go as far. The only reason why I have been more successful this second time round is because I have met with my irl friend @nunccoepi multiple times to go over things. He has been very helpful and maybe instead of having everyone offer help, there is a dedicated person that gets assigned to new people and walks them through things and checks in on them. I also think that the minimum money contract given to rookies should be larger, so that they can get the minimum Weekly trainings over the course of a season without having to take on an additional job. I think that if the desire is to foster growth, you have to allow for the user to get committed gradually instead of having them see the banks of other veterans and then they think that they cannot possibly compete for a very long time.
Expansion Expansion Expansion! Tell us why you think the league should expand / not expand or include any ideas (in words) for team branding ideas you have or team locations.
I know that this can be a pretty controversial topic and I'm not sure how much weight my opinion should carry because I have not been in the league that long. But I like the idea of expansion. Firstly, the idea of having more teams is just really cool. The existing teams do such a great job with branding, I would love to see more of that. I understand though that there is a lot of work that goes into it. At the same time, I think that this would help rookies with getting jobs. I've talked with different teams and while there are job opportunities, it seems like a lot of the easier jobs or really the "starter" jobs get taken quickly or have already been taken by existing veterans and then those veterans don't want to give them up because they are an easier money making opportunity. I think my recommendation would be to add more teams to the development league first. And then have players spend more than one season as a standard in that league to really help continue to foster that league. I think that the idea of league expansion has to also include a conversation about having multiple players by one user. In order to sustain the a growing league, I don't think we would be able to entirely rely on finding new users to join the league, but also allow the more veteran players have multiple players. I think that this would help in a variety of ways. I really won't go into detail here about that, but I think it would create a more even playing field because the veterans would have to spend their money across players, rather than entirely focus on one player. I would love to do a team like the Lima Macaws, Ulaanbaatar Mammoths, or Sydney Dodo. I am not a very creative person, but I think that those mascots are pretty unique and someone with a creative mindset could probably make some pretty cool logos can color scheme to make it look really cool.
