2. Tell us about your draft class. Is there anything that makes it special in comparison to other classes? Where did your fellow draftees land, how are they doing? Did anyone turn out to be an unexpected steal of that draft based on what you know today? Do you think anyone in your draft class will become a hall of famer? If you’re new to the league, how do you think your class will do? Where do you think people will get drafted to?
The season 49 draft class was a special one, at least to me! Being a new create and experiencing my first ISFL draft was great. Overall, I think we'll look back on this draft class in 8 seasons and see just how many stellar users and players there were up for grabs. I also think there's a high possibility of quite a few hall of famers or hall of very greaters. A couple players that I picked out that I believe could be future hall of famers are Alexander Rockstone, Super Sonic (formerly DSGJ, RIP), Devin Mace, and Tua Domine. We'll start with Alexander Rockstone.
Alexander Rockstone came into the draft as a Cornerback but has since switched to Wide Receiver if I'm not mistaken. Rockstone was the first overall pick of the Season 49 ISFL draft and went to the Colorado Yeti. I believe Rockstone will continue to be a top earning player in the league and has a bank to match. I also think he's in a great spot at Colorado. With no wins last year, the Yeti have continued to stockpile young talent. While they likely won't completely turn it around next season, I think they'll be a force to reckon with in a few seasons and Rockstone will be able to thrive with a lot of touches.
My next player is Super Sonic. Sonic came into the draft as a Tight End and, like Rockstone, promptly switched to Wide Receiver. Sonic went fourth overall to the Berlin Fire Salamanders who clearly needed a high caliber player at Wide Receiver and Sonic was happy to fill that role. SS is another player that will be at the top of league when it comes to earning and bank accounts. The salamanders will have no choice but to get him the ball as much as possible, which in turn will do wonders for Sonic's Hall of Fame campaign.
Devin Mace made it clear to the league that he was the number one Offensive Line prospect in the Season 49 ISFL draft and when it came time for the Yellowknife Wraiths to take their player, they wasted no time selecting Mace. Mace has stuck around at the OL position and while stats are not abundant for OL, I won't be surprised at all to see him rack up the pancakes. Mace is another top tier earner and I would bet on him having an iron man, longstanding career.
The last player that I've picked to talk about is Tua Domine. In reference to steals of the draft, I think Tua was one of the biggest. Tua was mocked by many (including myself) to go first overall to the Colorado Yeti. The Yeti didn't pick him with their first pick, and I'm sure did not expect him to be still around by the time their second pick came around at 12th overall. But to the shock of many, Tua was still there and the Yeti scooped him up. The Yeti have shown that the LB position is of high value to them as they took Willeh Strong at first overall in the previous draft. Tua was the highest earning Linebacker of the Season 49 class and he'll slot into a linebacking core that is already packed with talent. Lining up next to the S48 DRoY in Strong, he'll be able to trust his compadres to succeed in their role and in turn will be able to focus on his craft. Out of this draft class, I would rank Tua Domine as the most likely to make the Hall of Fame, and think he'll have a long successful career causing disruption and getting to the quarterback.
I look forward to looking back at this post in a few seasons time and seeing how my predictions are shaping up!
