This upcoming week in the DSFL (Week Ten) the London Royals are going to be facing off with the Dallas Birddogs. This matchup is significant, both teams are currently at the top of their conferences. With London Royals sitting at an 8-1 score in the North, and Dallas Birddogs tied for first with the Norfolk Seawolves at 4-4-1. There seems to be a pretty big gap here when it comes to overall score, however London's one loss this season was to the Dallas Birddogs in a very close game ending at 14-13 Birddogs. That being said, we should be in for a very solid week ten game between these two. London needs to prove that they can take down the one opponent who has stopped them this year to indisputably be on top of the DSFL. Whereas Dallas needs to prove that London isn't invincible, hopefully winning and having Norfolk lose so they can become the uncontested top of their conference. Should be a great week, can't wait to see how it plays out!
As the later stretch of the season quickly approaches, now is the time to assess each team and get an idea of how the playoff picture is shaping up. My team, the Honolulu Hahalua, had a shaky start to the season. Despite being sim hoed multiple times and losing to lesser teams, we have rallied hard enough to find ourselves only one game out of the playoffs. With the division this tight and the race still on, I believe our most key matchup is week 13 @ the Arizona Outlaws. A win away will help us knock down another one of the premier teams in the hunt and give us a clean 2-0 in the head to head matchup this season. A player I would like to highlight is none other than Rex Havoc, aka @Muddym13. Rex has sneakily been a clutch player for HON, with 2 sacks and three crafty little forced fumbles. If he keeps showing up and getting turnovers, he could be the key piece to a very important victory.
A bit of a selfish spotlight but so far the DSFL South division has been an extremely tight race. My squad, the Norfolk Seawolves, are currently vying for first with the Dallas Birddogs, and after the jarring results of our two close losses in the Week 8 and 9 double header matches we're in a much closer race than expected. Because of this our Week 12 matchup playing against Dallas (in their stadium!) will likely end up being extremely important to the end results of the South division. Our first matchup against them in the early weeks of the season ended in a rare and unexpected tie, which leaves our head-to-head record determined solely by this final match. If the race stays as tight as it currently is, that head-to-head record could end up being extremely important to our playoff prospects, and if that's the case then I believe our Week 12 rematch will be one to watch. Additionally in such an important match I'll have the opportunity to go head to head with my former prospect league teammate and fellow standout Safety, Akane Saruta. We've had similar stats to this point in the league, though they're edging me out in a couple categories, so whoever comes out of this the victor may just get to claim an edge in the ever riveting battle of S50 Rookie Safeties.
Weeks 12 and 14 here are crucial for Minnesota, as we try to figure out who is going to make it from the North Division. London has a clear lead, and that should stand for the rest of the season, but Minnesota currently holds onto the 2nd spot, but Kansas City and Portland are just a game back each. Kansas in particular is on a 2 game win streak here, so ending their chances in Week 12 is a must, should Minnesota believe they’re a playoff contender. And to end the season, even if they push Kansas City aside, Portland should end up in wait, eager to put an end to their hopes. The final game could determine a ton, from making the playoffs at all to some huge swing in playoff position. Lots still up for grabs, and with 2 of the last 5 games being against divisional rivals, and those directly involved in each other’s destinies, it will be a huge dramatic ending to the season!
Sticking with the DSFL where my player is currently, I think this upcoming week 10 game pitting the London Royals against the Dallas Birddogs is deserving of a prime-time platform. London is the toast of the DSFL so far this season at 8-1 while Dallas is leading the DSFL South in a tightly contested division with a 4-4-1 record. 8 of the 10 teams in the league have a .500 or worse record, which is leaving the playoff spots wide open. If London wins this game, they'll likely cement themselves as a top seed in the playoffs with only 4 games remaining after their showdown against Dallas. If Dallas can win, it will really open things up in the playoff race and give themselves an upper hand. My X-factor in this matchup would be D Summers, Running Back for the London Royals. He's leading the DSFL in several rushing stats including 789 rushing yards & 10 rushing TDs. I'll be excited to see who wins this matchup in week 10 and takes full command of their playoff destiny.

The DSFL season is quickly racing towards the playoffs, putting the pressure on literally every team besides London to step up and earn their spot. Every team is still in the race and can control their own destiny. One game I would definitely flex into primetime is the Week 12 matchup NOR @ DAL. These are the current two playoff teams from the South. They currently have the same record at 4-4-1, though obviously that could change by the time of the game. But what will likely not change is the importance of this game. This single matchup can swing the head to head tiebreaker to either team, as these squads actually tied in their first matchup. Norfolk rookie QB Jack Cannon is the player to watch in this game. Cannon has been the best rookie QB in the DSFL this season, and could continue his strong campaign by playing some clean football and earning a win against Dallas. (158)
