In Week One, the Dallas Birddogs took home a 27-24 victory over the Tijuana Luchadores. It was the only win for either team in the first four weeks of the season.
But slowly, both teams began to fight their way back.
For the Birddogs, the road to redemption began with a 14-13 win over the undefeated London Royals. Then, with their record at 3-4-1, the Birddogs put together a three-game winning streak, keyed by the leading contender for the Defensive Player of the Year Award, Alexander Hordle, Jr. Including a second victory over London. And quarterback Zack Vega Jr, who had over three thousand yards passing.
However, losses in their last two games have put the Birddogs at 6-6-1. And their playoff hopes hanging by a thread.
For the defending Ultimini Champions, the road back was even harder. At 2-6, everyone had written Tijuana off and were even reveling in their demise. But the Luchadores won four out of their next five and now find themselves one win away from making the playoffs.
Each week, someone new would step up and lead the Luchadores. Like Holden Affart, who had 5 tackles, 2 for a loss, a sack, a forced fumble and an interception in the 45-10 drubbing of Bondi Beach.
And the sensational play of Kal Sunmers, Jr. Who had over a thousand yards receiving and 11 touchdowns.
Then, last week, with the season on the line, Challah Farmer connected with Carl Wheezer on a 19-yard touchdown pass with 11 seconds left in the game to defeat Minnesota 35-32.
So, it's come down to this. One game. One chance. Do or die.
The winner makes the playoffs.
The loser goes home.
It's the Dallas Birddogs against the Tijuana Luchadores.
On.
Monday.
Night.
Football.
