Orange County training camp is underway, and that means the Otters will have to make a decision on who will lead their team at quarterback, with several highly rated players in the mix. It's expected that Mike Boss and Ethan Hunt will duel it out for the starting role, with the other quarterbacks the team drafted considering switching positions for the benefit of the team, and because there just aren't any starting jobs available right now.
For gunslinging Josh Bercovici, the boisterous draftee from Arizona State, the odds are definitely stacked against him, and the logical answer would be for him to switch positions, but you can't expect logic to always be followed. Bercovici was spotted warming up with Boss and Hunt at the Otters training camp, and it didn't look he was giving up on quarterback, in fact, it would appear he is going to make the decision at quarterback for the Otters even more difficult.
"I am well aware that the Otters have no real intention of even giving me a shot at quarterback...kind of comes with the territory of being drafted 96th overall."[i] said Bercovici during a brief break in training. [i]"But the bottom line is that I am just as good as the other guys out here, I'm putting in the time, just like they are, and there isn't any giant separation between us. I'm gonna put the pressure on them both. I'll get a brief chance in pre-season, and I'm going to make the most of it- I wont make the decision easy for them, I will make sure they see exactly their passing up on."
He isn't lying, because right now the three of them are very close in the hours they've spent training, so it will come down to performance on the field- or, most likely, just the personality the front office likes the best, because the skill between them right now is inconsequential.
