A few years ago, producers for an unknown show, known as No Script with Marshawn Lynch, called the Baltimore Hawks front office with a request. They wanted Marshawn and rookie sensation, Darlane Farlane to get together for the filming of an episode. Unfortunately, with the disappearance of Darlane Farlane in season 3, and Marshawn’s return to the NFL, the filming was pushed back to season 4. Farlane was all but a ghost at this point, showing up for practices and games only, and leaving immediately, so Owen Taylor, being the new starting running back, was the obvious fill-in. Unfortunately, no one told Taylor, and when Lynch showed up at his house unannounced, he was woefully unprepared. Taylor was loading his youngest child into his SUV when Lynch rolled into his driveway. “Sup, man? What we doin today?” “Um…. Grocery shopping?”
And so began the most entertaining grocery shopping trip of Taylor’s life. Not because Lynch did anything outlandish or absurd, but because he was just such a nice guy to talk to. Not only was he incredibly helpful in tracking down items that Taylor didn’t know the location of, Lynch even volunteered to carry Taylor’s child. Lynch did make one request though, he wanted some Skittles, and none of that tropical flavor non-sense either. No one likes those.
