Hello NSFL,
As many of us know, the NSFL draft occurs ahead of time behind closed doors. This allows better coordination between GMs and a very high quality draft stream (huge shout out to all the people who help make that happen each year). This means certain people in the league know the results of the draft before the draft officially happens.
Leaking this information to anybody for any reason is illegal, and providing hints to people on how the draft went when you know the draft results falls under the "leaking draft information" umbrella.
@kckolbe is in the Outlaws draft war room and posted the article Draft Tips From an Insider, Without Illegal Insider Info after the 1st round had occurred behind closed doors (the 8th pick in the draft was made on 11/27, the article was posted on 11/28). We also know that the results of the 1st round were posted in the Outlaw's war room, and that kckolbe saw the results and knew the results before the article was posted.
Let's break down each specific point made in kckolbe's article: #1) Narrowed it down to two players, recommended the one specifically who was the actual pick #2) Named the actual pick specifically, he did find out about this pre-draft via PMs with Baltimore GMs #3) Named two players, one of which was the actual pick #4) Technically proposed 3 players, one of which was the actual pick #5) Didn't name anybody, did say he wouldn't pick hornbacher, who was not picked here #6) Basically saying "guys stop putting Garrad to OCO," justifies it with Garrad being ia which is a fair point. OCO indeed did not pick Garrad #7) Narrows it to DL, names no names. BAL did indeed pick a DL #8) Similar to #6, basically saying "Guys stop putting AdamS to NOLA", NOLA indeed did not pick AdamS, though he did justify this with logical points as well.
Even though everything kckolbe said was something that an "in-the-know" and/or intelligent person could have predicted, the fact that kckolbe ACTUALLY KNEW how the 1st round of the draft occurred is enough for this to be considered leaking draft information.
Additionally, kckolbe's statement in his article that he is" kind of a fan of TPE, so I love talking about the draft and preventing as many bad mocks as I can. Normally this is done in the form of sending out my own mock before things kick off, but then you learn other shit as well" seems to indicate that this article was posted with the intent of raising the league's average mock draft using information that kckolbe was privy to due to his status as a member of the Outlaw's war room. That information being who was actually drafted when.
Kckolbe is a first time offender so the punishment is as follows:
$8,000,000 fine
Loses out on mock draft tpe for this season (S12 Mock Draft) and next season (S13 Mock Draft)
Not allowed to be in a draft waroom for the remainder of this season (S12 up to the S13 draft) and next season (S13 up to the S14 draft)
As always, kckolbe is allowed to appeal this decision if he wishes.
