And yes, that title is not just a tease.
For a few seasons now, I have been more or less inactive on the NSFL, but still closely following my player's career. I had done the math and knew that with one more season after this one, I was almost guaranteed to be number one all time in tackles, my biggest career goal besides championships.
And so I followed along, week by week, sim by sim, checking to see if I would get 10 tackles and if I got any less, then I would be disappointed. I know tackles are not the best indicator of a good or successful career, but it's one of the quintessential stats for a defenseman out there.
And so, despite not having reached my final season yet, it has happened:
I did it! Even with a full season left of my career, I already passed Lee and have taken the lead in all time tackles. That means, for the remainder of my career, my last season, I will be able to pad the lead a bit and hopefully create a record that will not easily be passed anymore.
All that being said, yes, I will retire and re-create this weekend. My player will have another season in NOLA and then will go down in the history books. I will do a proper career highlights article once my career is fully over, but I can already hint at some of my achievements, besides leading the league in all time tackles. I also managed to win five championships in my career, three with the Orange County Otters and two with the New Orleans Second Line. I have been very fortunate and I like to think that at the end of all this, I have earned my spot in the Hall of Fame.
Before I do officially retire, I want to thank a few people that meant a lot in my career here.
First off, @Bayley who I was in the same draft class with and we talked a lot and wanted to end up in the same spot but then didn't get picked by the same team. We still ended up on the same team later in our careers and he managed to be my GM now for the last couple.
@Molarpistols who believed in me and drafted me in the first round and made me co GM, when I was still practically unknown in the sim league world. Without him, I probably would have not been as successful as a GM elsewhere as I have been.
@timeconsumer who initially scouted me and also believed in my abilities and saw potential
@bovo for trading for me and giving me a new challenge halfway through my career, truly reinvigorated my interest in the league and paying more attention as well as being active in discords again. NOLA was just an amazing time
And a ton of other guys that I am forgetting or not mentioning. Thanks again for everything
So yeah, all that being said, what is next for me in the NSFL? Like I said, I will retire officially soon and re-create this weekend.
I have not made a decision 100% but I know that after having had success on defense, my next player will likely be an offensive player. I am eyeing one of the positions specifically already.
With that being said, I will retire officially soon and re-create soon. I will also hold a press conference, so if you have any questions, head on over to here: Press Conference link
Thank you for reading this and let's have a big season as a go home parade for Julian O'Sullivan
bye bye
