Rookies take on S13 Mock draft
Hello all, I am new to the league having joined shortly after last season’s DSFL draft commenced. I thought it may be interesting for you all to hear a Rookies take on the league, specifically going into the draft. I am releasing this right before the draft begins so we will be able to see how smart (or dumb) I am in real time! I haven’t been able to really grasp what each team’s positions of needs are and I don’t know what every players history is as far as recreated players, but I figured, what the hell.
So without further ado, S13 Mock Draft, done by someone who knows nothing…
#1 wraiths - Johnny Snuggles (manicmav36) – CB – Kansas City Coyotes – 226 TPE
Some of you may know, manicmav36 recruited me into the NSFL, so I know more about his player than any other except my own. He has been talking to me about joining for as long as he has been a member so I can tell you that he is completely dedicated to this league. The Wraiths will be getting a player who will maximize his TPE, and be a great asset in their locker room, and be a strong leader on this team.
#2 second line - Spencer Castle (AsylumParty) – CB – Tijuana Luchadores – 203 TPE
If not for manic, Castle would be an obvious number one pick. He, too, is taking on the challenge of being a CB in the NSFL and going against the sim which is tough to predict for CBs as can be seen in that no CB as ever been back to back DB of the year. My teammate on the Luchadores was an asset to our team and our locker room and helped us to win our division. He tied for the lead in all DSFL, not just rookies, with 5 picks and had more tackles than any other DB.
#3 second line - Benson Harris (Rich) – DE – San Antonio Marshalls – 222 TPE
Harris is a TPE dominator at a position of need on the defensive line. Rich had a great season and will make this a stellar defensive draft for the Second Line. He led all the DSFL in Tackles for loss and had the most total tackles from defensive linemen. He is a locked and loaded top pick in this draft.
#4 outlaws - Lucius Kane (Noble) – WR – Portland Pythons – 194 TPE
This should be an easy pick for the Outlaws mostly because there is a drop off after these top 4 TPE players. Even though this may not be a position of need for Arizona, they are getting a steal by taking the best player available in Kane. He was the leading rookie receiver in the DSFL this season and will be an asset to the team.
#5 liberty - Chris Steele (AzhekAhriman) – CB – San Antonio Marshalls – 142 TPE
The fifth pick in this draft will be the 3rd cornerback taken. Cornerback is a strong position of need for every team and the Liberty will be helping their D by getting a consistent TPE earner in Steele.
#6 otters- David Ginsberg (DavidCoperial) – LB – Portland Pythons – 152 TPE
With the first of the Otters 2 first round picks, they will decide to go with the best available defensive player. Ginsberg brings a strong presence to the defending champs defense. He was the second leading tackler amongst all rookies in the DSFL this season.
#7 hawks- Corey Trevor (StickyRicky) – RB – Portland Pythons – 159 TPE
Corey Trevor will be the third first rounder taken from the Pythons, who had a strong season although being barely edged in the conference championship by eventual champion Coyotes. Trevor is a strong TPE earner and if at a different position, he may have been taken earlier. Trevor led the DSFL rookies in yards, carries, and touchdowns. The hawks are getting a potential future standout player and he should help their run heavy offence grow.
#8 otters- Blake McCargue (Alkaiid) – OL – Tijuana Luchadores – 143 TPE
Anther fellow teammate, Blake will be an interesting asset to whomever claims him. He is a good locker room presence and will be a solid TPE earner. The only question is if he will stay an OL for the long haul, and if he does, will the simulation show a benefit to a star Offensive lineman in helping the team. Hopefully it shows, as he didn’t allow a sack all season. Solid good pickup for the Otters.
Just missed the first round.
Johnny Blaze (JBLAZE_THE_BOSS) – TE – Portland Pythons– 137 TPE
Caleb McCoy (TrueTexican) – QB – Portland Pythons– 163 TPE
Alex Frost (39alaska39) – K/P – Kansas City Coyotes – 131 TPE
So, there it is, an amateur’s take of my first ever NSFL draft. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did looking into this stuff. Oh well, I guess we will find out in a hour or so! Go Big Red!
