Hello everybody, my name is Giannis Kroustis, I am 20 years young and I am a DSFL soon-to-be-drafted all-around safety. You can see my stats here, and my updates so far here.
I was born in San Francisco, CA. Being a child of immigrants from Greece, things were never that easy. Thankfully, my parents were able to make ends meet, so I can't really say I grew up being poor. Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to play football professionally. My mom was not so keen to it, obviously. She feared about my safety. At least my father, having played basketball as an amateur back in Greece when he was younger, was some sort of a "crutch" and the trip started when I started attending Palo Alto HS, in the Bay Area.
It happened following a horrific accident, where I shattered my right shoulder. Why is that so important you may ask. Well, I wanted to play as a QB. Thank god the coaches at Palo Alto convinced me to switch to a defensive position. I started as a Cornerback, but I was slowly put into the Safety positions, since I was easily getting frustrated when burnt by receivers man-to-man. Zone was the defensive scheme I adored, hence the switch was easy. I was considered as one of the top safeties of my class, hence the ruthless recruitment from some top class programs, ending up at Clemson.
I can't really say my college experience was the best, since I had injuries, including a torn ACL in my freshman season, but hey! I got to win the National Championship 3 times in a row. One of them, the first in my sophomore year, was undeniably the game I vividly remember up to this day. It was a beatdown. 4 pick-6 and 2 safeties on a shutout? Sign me up for it any day baby. You can read more about my college career and see my per year stats here.
Well, that's about it for a first blog. If you have any questions, drop them down below, or throw me a DM. I will sure pick them up.
I will catch up with y'all after the DSFL draft.
Peace!
