Former UConn standout and current linebacker for the Atlantic Blackbirds, Marquees Acho, held an impromptu press conference this morning after the team got its first win.
“I’ll say it- Blackbirds have the best D in Prospect Bowl”
Acho had been lying low after his acquittal, but has been outspoken recently about the talent he is surrounded by.
“These guys are just ballers. Great defenders, great playmakers, stand-up locker room guys. I mean, how else would you lead the league in tackles for losses, fumbles, and interceptions?”
“Look at our secondary; Sinclair and Green? Knight and Ridley? Good luck trying to throw on these guys. And linebackers? Name a better linebacking core; I’ll wait.”
Acho then proceeded to actually wait, 5 whole minutes, until a reporter quietly stuttered “n-none.”
“That’s what I thought”, yelled the outspoken linebacker, “and don’t even get me started on how our QBs keep improving. We’ve got some guys, man, and it’s exciting to watch.”
The Blackbirds are currently 1-2, but have proven to be a fun team to watch. Catch there next game tonight at 8, and see the defense that has the Prospect Bowl watching. Acho had this to say about his opponents, the Pacific Owls, who are also coming off of there first win.
“These guys deserve respect, man. Don’t let the record fool you. Leaf Jr. can do some things, man, and he is only getting better. And Bortboy, this guy can run. Our defense needs to bring its A game tonight. If we do, I really see us getting to .500. It’s been a great experience and I’m glad you guys came out. CAW CAW.”
Acho himself has been improving as well. Last night he had 8 tackles, picked up his first two sacks, and forced a fumble. It’ll be interesting to see if he can continue being a force in the middle of the talented Blackbirds defense.
