Week 2
@HENDRIX
Baltimore Hawks linebacker Kurt Hendrix put up a solid defensive performance in the team’s loss. Despite Hendrix’s 14 tackles, the Hawks were unable to overcome a lackluster offensive performance and lost to the Orange County Otters 13 - 10. Hendrix’s 14 tackles is a single game record. Despite Hendrix having the best individual performance of the game, the biggest storyline of the game was Otters QB Mike Boss. Boss threw three interceptions, making it nine through the first two games. The Otters have publicly stated that there will be a change at the QB position next week as Josh Bercovici gets the nod.

Josh Garden continues to make a name for himself as one of the top big-play threats in the league. Garden finished the game with 5 catches for 119 yards and a touchdown. The TD came on a 26 yard pass from QB Chris Orosz. Garden also had a 37 yard catch on the Wraiths’ last drive of the game. The final drive for the Wraiths had some questionable coaching decisions, lik running the ball on 2 and 10 and 3rd and 11. Those runs setup the Wraiths for a game tying field goal, however the coach decided to go for it on 4th and 8 instead of attempt the 50 yard field goal. A shocking decision, especially considering kicker, A. Booter, had already hit a 51 yarder in the game. Ultimately the Wraiths would not convert that 4th down and would go on to lose to the Colorado Yeti 13 - 10.

On the other side of the ball in that game was Yeti linebacker Jonathan Saint. Saint was all over the field compiling 11 tackles. He also was able to sack Wraiths QB Chris Orosz two times. The biggest play from Saint, came on the Wraiths’ final drive. On the 3rd and 11 play, Saint was able to plug a hole and stop Bubba Nuck from gaining more than 3 yards. Had Nuck gone for a couple more yards, would the Wraiths coach been more likely to attempt the game-tying FG?

Bert Metas and Dan Miller paved the way for the San Jose Sabercats victory over the Arizona Outlaws. The defensive tackles dominated the Outlaws interior linemen. Metas put up 11 tackles, including an early 1st quarter sack that went for a safety. That safety set the tone for the rest of the game, as the Sabercats would get to Outlaws QB Vincent Draxel 12 times over the course of the game. Miller led the team in sacks and set the single game record of 4. Miller also had nine tackles in the game. The two big defensive tackles also occupied blockers and allowed for linebacker Alexander Selich and free safety Clee Hardrool to record two sacks each. This defensive pressure ensured the Sabercats easy victory, 24 - 10 over the Outlaws.
