With the 30th pick in the 2029 NSFL Draft, the San Jose Sabercats select... Dan Wright, TE, Palm Beach.
I'm now one of the newest members of the reigning NSFL Champions, the San Jose Sabercats. Is there anything you'd like to know?
I'm just glad I didn't have to wait as long to get called here as I did for the DSFL Draft. Had to wait to Round 15 there, and that was a nightmare.
Philadelphia. I know they aren't a conference opponent, but that's a rematch of the Ultimus so those might be the most hyped games of the season. Probably Orange County as well, since we're probably going to be going head-to-head to claim home-field in the playoffs.
I'm so stoked, to think that the reigning NSFL Champions wanted me enough to take me, that's huge. Couldn't be more excited. I'm going to keep putting in the work, raising that TPE, and making sure that I'm someone no one can overlook.
Well, San Jose seems like they're going in a new direction. I mean, last year, they had the league's top rushing offense. Jerrod Canton and Chris Orosz ran really well and Joliet Christ was always a threat to take off and run. Now, Canton's in Yellowknife, we just brought in three really active receivers, and Orosz is taking over leadback duties, and he's as sure-handed as they come. We've still got Kaz Oles for one more season, we've still got Xavier Flash putting in good work, and Christ is still here, playing at an MVP level. I think we're going to be a very exciting offense to watch this season, there's targets everywhere who can catch it, and on the rare instance when everyone's covered, Canton can scramble for daylight. This probably does mean that individual stats won't be as high, as everyone gets a little piece of the action, but I think we can make that work.
I'll admit I was hoping to get a chance to be the undisputed #1 tight end on some team, but with the season I had last year in Palm Beach, that was maybe a bit unlikely, but this is the next best thing. My goal is to just get on the field as much as humanly possible, no matter what it is that I'm doing. Whether I'm lined up at tight end or fullback or in the slot, whether I'm running routes or blocking, just get out there and do whatever's asked of me as good as I possibly can.
I want to be the best tight end to ever play the game. I know that's lofty, but this is my role on a team, and I wanna crush it. By the end of this season, I just want to be a consistent go-to target on this team, but for the years to come, who knows what I can accomplish.
I'm already designing a new signature for the two of us. See you out there Cam. #LargeLads
I would say that we're building something special here in San Jose. You don't build a championship-winning team by making boneheaded decisions, these are smart people and they've got plans for me.
See, me and Cam both play tight end, but we bring different skills to the table. Cam's a bit faster than me and has better hands, but I'm stronger and can get open easier. We can each do things the other can't.
It's going to be a lot of fun, like, our quarterback situation wasn't the best last season, so this'll be a huge step forward, and I'm looking forward to catching passes from Joliet.

Who are you most looking forward to facing off against in the NSFL?
How do you feel about going to the reigning champs, and what do you think the future will hold for the Sabercats?

If you don't see the scheme changing much, how do the drafted pieces fit into the mix in your opinion?
You were the second TE taken by San Jose this draft, a round after standout Cameron Olsen. What do you expext your role to be and what kind of impact do you expect to have on the team's success?

What are your personal goals for the next level? This can include goals that you have for just your rookie season and career long goals as well.

2. San Jose has one of the more different offenses and run a lot of two TE sets, how can you yourself make a name for yourself on an off the field and how can you and Olsen complement each other on the field.
3. You are playing with a QB who has won MVP and OPOY in the last couple seasons, what are you looking forward to most with playing with a great QB such as Joliet L. Christ?
