The love sack. A look at defensive line sacks.
[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Hello NSFL fans, I'm here today with the topic of "Which team's defensive line is most likely to get a sack?"[/div]
To figure that out, lets first define a defensive line. I'm only talking about players listed as defensive tackles and defensive ends. I will include all players of this position even if they sometimes flex to other positions.
Team's Defensive line sack tier list:
S tier - Wraiths: 21
The wraiths have two DT which are both leading the league in sacks with 7 and 6 respectively. On Top of this their DEs both have 4 each. This is the strongest defensive front. The reason why is because every single player they have on that line is a threat. Not having a "weak link" allows them to find the weakness in the offensive line and exploit it, no matter where it might be.
A Tier - Sabercats: 16, Yetis: 15
The next team I'll talk about is the sabercats. They have very respectable DTs with Metas and Miller. Their defensive line numbers are a bit skewed due to the usage of a third defensive tackle (Cameron) who also has 3 sacks. However, their two DE only combine for 3 sacks. It's possible that with 3 defensive tackles being cycled, and maybe being utilized more than the defensive ends, that this is why their numbers are lower. However one thing is clear, this isn't an all star balanced line up like the wraiths.
Next up is the Yetis. In almost a reversal from the last team, the Yetis have some of the best defensive ends in the league with Fozy having 6 sacks and Teagarden a respectable 4. Their defensive tackles aren't slouches, but have only have managed to get 2 and 3 sacks respectively. Their interior could be a bit better, but that DE duo is truly terrifying.
C Tier - Otters: 10 Outlaws: 9
The otters are the next team and they are similar to the sabercats. They have two strong defensive tackles in Reigns and Devitt combining for 8 sacks. However, their defensive ends leave something to be desired with only 2 sacks. Seems to be an almost exactly replica of the sabercats without the extra defensive tackle for relief.
The outlaws have a pretty different line up then most others. They basically have one defensive end carrying the line as far as sacks are concerned, and that man is J. Tuck. He is leading the team with 5, and the rest of his linemen only combine for 4 sacks. It seems like the team has 2 defensive tackles and 3 defensive ends, but it's possible one of the defensive end is now starting at defensive tackle over Dental Dam
D Tier - Hawks: 5
This line is sad. Defensive tackles have 3 sacks and defensive ends have 2. No stand out players here as far as sacks are concerned. Kind of just a wasteland of a defensive line.
Now one last thing I'd like to touch on before we go is, defensive lines aren't the only factor in sacks. I'm focusing on defensive lines but also felt like I could touch on
Below is the total sack per team:
Team Sacks
Wraiths: 25
Yetis: 25
Sabercats: 23
Otters: 15
Outlaws:12
Hawks:8
If you notice, the yetis shoot up from 15 sacks to 25. Their linebackers have gotten 9 sacks as well as their free safety picking up 1. If anyone wanted to learn about blitzing, the Yetis are probably the team to watch.
The otters have also increased by the same 50% sack ratio due to 4 linebacker sacks and a safety sack. Very similar to the sabercats in personnel and yetis in defensive play calling... but kinda worse at both.
