Sid Renfrow here, newly appointed by NSFL network, here to report on one of the wierdier stories that will surface this season.
It has been announced that Peter Larson, promising Goalie prospect in the SHL, has decided to use his off-season to try his hand at American football. He has been training already for two seasons with the Washington Huskies, since he had been spending his offseasons studying for his BCOM(economics).
Peter declared is availability to play as a QB for the DSFL and was quickly picked up off waivers by the San Antonio Marshalls, just in time infact to play his first game, barely having read the playbook. Not surprisingly, the lack of preseason and early training has not served Peter well, throwing two interceptions in his very first game.
But Peter is realistic about his prospects as a QB longer term, "look I understand I am probably not cut out to compete in the big leagues as a quarterback, but I wanted to see if I could compete in the juniors for a season or two. Who ever watched a game of football and didn't dream of being the QB, I'm taking my chance." Longer term Peter says he is thinking he might have what it takes to be a inline tight end. He isn't shying away from the amount of time in the weight room he is going to need to do between now and then but for now he is working on getting more comfortable under center, and remembering how to run without knifes on his feet.
It's an interesting move from a player that is seen as a possible franchise goalie in the shl. But then maybe there is just no stopping Peter on his ongoing quest for greatness. We look forward to following his rookie season and seeing what comes of his potential position switch for the seniors.
