(Chad walks into the media room)
Hey Guys. I'm happy to be here and ready for any questions you may have.
The season has been great. I am really enjoying myself and am glad to have received an invite to play in the league. It's definitely different going from classes, football, and other events, to being able to dedicate myself fully to football. I'm finally starting to get into a routine and learn how this league works. I had a really great week of training, so I'm looking forward to seeing how that shows itself in our games moving forward. All in all, I've been having a blast.
I really do think the Solar Bears have a chance to win the whole thing. Our offense is on point. Easton Cole is a stud, our RB's are a dominant force. Bigby has been averaging over a 100 a yards a game and almost 6 yards a carry. Once we beat the Pythons I knew we had the capability to go all the way. We just need to keep pushing and not let our foot off the pedal. Defensively it's been awesome to go against Cole everyday. Iron sharpens iron! It's also been fun being apart of "Hall and Maul" (Our DE Grouping), but it looks like we added Taimatuia to the DE group. So now we'll have 2 Big Samoans. (yes i'm half Samoan).
Hmmmm the smelliest person in our locker room... Haha, I'd have to say it's Nikko. That dude... I mean what do you expect. When you average 16 tackles a game running all over the field you're gonna stink. But that's what we gotta pay for that kind of production. A stinky locker room and you become a team with iron nasals. He'd just tell you he's a man's man. I agree haha. In all seriousness though, Guy Nikko has been the heart and soul of our defense. His play this year has been deadly, and I'm glad that I've had the chance to learn from him while he's still here.
First of all Huskies I like the name. When I played in high school our mascot was the huskies. So.. +1 TPE for you. Just tell'em I said it was ok. I don't have a rival at this point. Most of the linemen I've gone up against seem pretty out of it. They just don't have the fire in their eyes some guys do. If fact you try to joke around with them on the field a bit and I find a good majority of them have almost no personality. I think as a whole most offensive linemen in the league really need to get out more. I bet most of them don't have the power of a good woman behind them. That's the secret to training.
As far as whom I would like to be drafted by: I'm hoping that I'm drafted in the NSFL next season. If so I am not quite sure which team. I'm still trying to get a feel for each team, power rankings, that sort of stuff. But I do like the Outlaws, and the Second Line theme and colors. Where ever I go, I will my best to help that team to a championship. I am loving being on the Solar Bears though, this season is going to be a memorable one.
My role model at this point would be Guy Nikko. I mentioned most of why above, but really. It's because not only is he a baller on the field, but he can also drink anyone on our team under the table.
Ohhh PDX you come a swinging! Hmmm let's see. Frantic.
I want olineman and TE's to fear me every time i'm on the field. I want the person trying to block me to be scared because he doesn't know if i'm going to bull rush or run right past him. I want him to be constantly asking the guy next to him "hey can can i get a little double team help". Ultimately I just want to dominate and become the best DE in the league.
I'd say my strength is well... strength. I've always had great strength which has helped quite a bit in my career. Catch 22, because of my strength my biggest weakness has definitely been my feet and footwork. I have tended to rely too much on my strength in the past and that caused a few bad habits with my get off step. I really focused on fixing that in college and it began to show toward my final 2 seasons as a Griz.
The best part of competing for me is just the challenge. The challenge of going up against other people and see how you stack up. Everyone wants to feel important. Everyone here in the DSFL and NSFL is obviously very talented, so it's neat to be able to see how I stack up against the best in the world. Plus I plan on making a name for myself here. I will try to stay humble, work hard, be a good team mate and we'll see where this road leads.
I study Jiu-Jitsu. I thought it was a perfect fit when I met you and found you trained Jiu-Jitsu as well. There is a bond that only Jiu-Jitsu players have, and I was pretty excited to find a fellow brother of the mat here. My favorite sports quote is from Draculino:
"The mat is my church, the ground is my heaven, Jiu-Jitsu is my religion. And once you hit the ground you're in my world. My world is like the ocean, I’m like a shark and most people don't even know how to swim."
Favorite song before competing. It would have to be Welcome to the Jungle. Before every game I sit in the dark with my headphones on and this is my meditation period. Thanks to Coach Walker for that, I've done that before the beginning of every game since my first game.
Well listening to music right before the game helps a lot to calm pregame butterflies. I just need to keep my mind busy and manage my adrenaline so i don't dump at the wrong time. Then try to keep myself at a higher level right before the game so that I can dump at the right time and make full use of my body. Once i get into the game the butterflies go away and all is right in the world.
I would say Royce Gracie inspired me as a young athlete. Here was this guy who came in and destroyed people that were almost always bigger than him. Sometimes upwards of 80 lbs. Yet this 168lb guy could walk through 3 or 4 of these fighters in 1 night. How? Technique. In my later years I got to train jiu-jitsu with Ryron and Rener Gracie and through them I have learned that all things can be accomplished with technique. Applying that lesson to football, Its helped me learn how to manage my energy, how and when to burst my strength, and how to do all of it using technique vs over compensating using strength and thus wearing out faster.
Folder all the way. Precision. Technique in everything.
Let it roll from the bottom. That way when my cat bats at it, it rolls the paper back up.
Hahahahahaha. I'm just a teeny guy. I don't have to worry about that. Why do you think i'm fast! (for a lineman)
No jeans, no way. Baggy comfortableness stuff, or cargo pants cause i'm busy like that.
Hey Guys. I'm happy to be here and ready for any questions you may have.

Do you think Palm Beach can win the conference?
Who is the smelliest person in the locker room?

Do you flip it over the top or let it roll from the bottom?
Do you push it down the left pant leg, the right pant leg, or somewhere in between? What about in jeans, that are tight?
