End of the Season
Brought to you by the Taffy Network
Colorado Yeti’s running back, Terry Taffy, is fresh off an exciting rookie season in which he currently contends for Offensive Rookie of the Year. His performance got him nearly 700 rushing yards, and over 200 receiving yards. We were fortunate enough to catch up to him and get his thoughts after the season.
With no further adieu, let's get into the questions. The Colorado Yeti finished a bleak 2-13. With the loss of important pieces, such as Soupy McBrain and Devo Casino, how do you think will affect the future of the team?
Good question man. Well, I believe we are a young team primed for the future. We’ve got a lot of building blocks, such as Mr. Lejune and Mr. Berry on defense, and myself and future Yeti Wolfie McDummy. We’ve got a really healthy cap situation, and that is important for reeling in important free agents. Most importantly, we offer players the chance of their own franchise, surrounded by budding young stars. What we can offer are opportunities that many other NSFL franchises just simply cannot do. That being said, we still have a future. As long as we do well in the expansion and actual draft, We will be a contender into 2-3 season for sure. As long as I’m paid my value, I’d love to remain a Yeti despite this rough rebuilding patch. As to address our departures, I grew quite fond of Devo Casino as we shared touches and played the same position. To see him leave football is a shock, but I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. He’s taught me countless lessons that I will need to be a star in this league.
Reportedly, Ryan Leaf Jr is getting called up next seasons. Both the Wraiths and Yetis are in the same division. Are you excited for his arrival?
He’s an interesting player for sure. I’m not sure his play on the field supports his trash talk, I think he might spend a bit too much time on twitter instead of the gym, but I think he’s a solid defensive linemen. It will be quite interesting to see the Rose Jenkins rivalry play out, considering at one point I shared a field with both of those guys. I doubt he’ll be able to achieve much against the Yeti offensive line, but I wish him the best of luck.
It is reported you maintain a close relation with the Kansas City Coyotes and are still actively a fan. How have you reacted to the news of them making the playoffs?
I’d like to think of myself as quite the Coyotes fan. I’d love for Terry Taffy Jr. to find himself playing there one day. I’ve talked to some of my old Yote teammates, I’m so happy for them. To make a sudden turn around like that after being one of the league's worst teams is something that is seriously hard to do. I hope the Yeti GM took notes from the Coyotes because there is seriously a lot to learn there.
How is your relationship with the team, if your willing to comment ?
Sure, I’ll answer this one because there’s not really much drama to be had. I’m much more than content, I’m ecstatic with the current status of our team. We just came off a 2-13 season, and while that’s rough to spend a season of my limited career in a tough rebuild, we’ve only got to look up. We’ve got an expansion draft coming up where our entire young core remains protected. Our GM’s have proven time and time again they can secure quality talent in the draft, and that they aren’t afraid to. We’ve got exciting young players, including myself, that can take this team to the next level. I’ve got two more years on this contract, and I’ll be the first to say, I’m very happy with it. Faith in the management staff goes a long way, and they’ve done a good job thus far.
How have you tried to develop your brand outside football? You’ve frequently mentioned that your brand is an important part of you and your career.
Yeah. I’d like to start by keeping #11 for my entire career. I’m starting to become recognizable with TT11. In this offseason, I’m going to star in Earth Jam, with LeGone James, so that’ll be exciting. I’ve been in heavy contact with the WFL and a particular fighter, Pierre St. George, so perhaps planning an event with them or even fighting an NSFL player, who knows. I’ve also been trying to get the Taffy network available on more channels, since it has provided me with a large amount of income outside of my 3mil a year contract. I’m not willing to disclose my finances publicly, but I’m rolling in the moolah.
Do you think you deserve Offensive Rookie of the Year?
Of course. Absolutely. Who wouldn’t say that about themselves. I felt I had a fantastic year, and feel I deserve that prestigious award. Adjusting to the pace and the rigor of the NSFL isn’t easy, and I didn’t have an extra DSFL season like others to prepare. With that being said, I understand why I wouldn’t be able to get it. Vander Jones, Morgan Marshall, and Brock Landers among others have had fantastic seasons. Just to be considered in the conversation is really honorable, but it’ll suck if I don’t come away with an award. Ultimately, I feel I am deserving, but others are deserving as well.
What’s year 2 Terry Taffy going to look like. What are you aiming for?
Year two Terry Taffy is going to be an absolute monster. You could tell I’ve grown a lot and improved significantly since my week 1 loss to the Baltimore Hawks. I’ve matured and humbled as a player even more, although you’d think after Kansas City I’d have humbled a lot. (Awkward laughing) There’s so much I can do in the receiving game, so I need to improve my hands. I tend to tire out, especially around the third and fourth quarters, so high endurance training is most definitely in the offseason agenda. I think I can bulk up even more, so I’m hitting the gym, and hoping to get in some offseason workouts with some of the players around the league, like I did last season. I think my agility was comparable to a grandma with a cane, so I’ll definitely do my best to improve that. Most importantly, I want to try and be a better teammate and improve my locker room standing. I’m going to grind my way to the top and hopefully get at least 800 rushing yards and 200 receiving yards. Tall task, but I’m more than capable of it.
