Today is the long awaited NSFL Draft for the S16 players who all had a very successful career in the DSFL with the Palm Beach Solar Bears taking the cake in the Ultimini. The multitude of players seeking another chance at greatest in the draft pool is not the biggest class, but still filled with plenty of eager players. One such eager player is the S15 Kansas City Coyote Tight End, Joshua Palmer. This very big target is not the first player many go for due to his position not being a huge necessity, but when it comes to a personality that teammates like then Palmer seems to be toward the top. Now he has a shot to prove himself tonight with his future NSFL team.
Here at the Atlanta Sun Journal, we were able to sit down with the tight end for a quick chat about his goals in the NSFL and pick his brain on some other things surrounding him.
Question #1: What should teams know about you in these final hours before the draft?
Palmer: I think that any NSFL team that picks me should know that I'm always wanting to get better and strive to be the next hall of fame tight end even if it takes a while. I'm going to give it my all, catch up on more weekly training to get as much TPE as I can.
Question #2: What talents do you bring to the table over another Tight End?
Palmer: Being a receiving weapon with solid catching really helps me be a reliable target. I may not have always had huge plays in the run heavy offense at Kansas City, but I promise that the more involved a team puts me in the game, they can expect great things.
Question #3: Would you like to start right away in the NSFL or spend another year with Kansas City to get better?
Palmer: Hopefully I can start right away, but I want to do what’s best for the team that picks me. Kansas City will always be a home for being the first team to draft me and I hope that even if I move up that they can do well. I’d be happy either way things turn out as long as their is a plan to get me on the way to being the best tight end in the league.
Question #4: What words of wisdom would you pass on to other S16 players or future players when they wait to be drafted?
Palmer: Just do the best you can wherever you go. You may not win any awards or championships at first, but if you keep pushing then you can do whatever you out your mind to. Also for any future players and S16 DSFL players, always try to be better than the people in front of you.
Question #5: For our final question, what goals are you setting for yourself in S16?
Palmer: I want to get much better than I was in my first year and hopefully get above 500 receiving yards with multiple touchdowns. It may be a bit of a stretch considering how low tight ends are used in most games, but I think it’s doable. I am also pursuing as much TPE as possible this season and going to try and get into the mid-eighties or higher with my speed to be a better receiving weapon.
That’s all we have for this interview with the Atlanta grown tight end. May he and all our future NSFL stars have good luck in the upcoming draft. This has been the Atlanta Sun Journal with another good day.
