As a standout receiver for Byrd Senior High in Fayetteville, Zach Hall led his high school team to a state championship in Football and Basketball his Senior Year. The 6'4" senior was easily bodying every corner that would defend him and led his team in receptions, yards, and touchdowns all 4 years of his varsity career. When the state championship ended and Hall was celebrating in the locker room, many fans wondered which college would scoop this kid up to continue his career but those schools never called.
Hall was told he was to big to be a receiver and people worried that his body would catch up to him even as a tight end. Hall told every recruiter he met that he would be a great tight end but the scouts all had their doubts. Hall didn't play against the top defenses in his state and he put on weight in a bad way each of his 4 years of high school which kept him from getting a call on signing day.
With no offers, Hall decided to go to North Carolina A&T where his former teammate attends in hopes that his friend could help him make the team. Hall turned his big bodied frame into muscle and worked at running routes with his former teammate. One day as he was outside his dorm going through his route tree the defensive coordinator for A&T saw him making catch after catch and called the head coach to sign him. Hall didn't start until his Junior year because the Aggies were a run first offense and Hall's blocking was suspect. Hall did have a nice senior year however that had him lead his team in receptions and catch 8 touchdowns as the Aggies won the celebration bowl.
After graduation, Hall thought his career was over as no pro scouts had made contact and he couldn't find his way into any workouts or pro days. A viral video appeared showing Hall doing a back flip and catching not one but two footballs behind his back. This started as just a YouTube video to show his athleticism but it lead to over 35 Million views and scouts took notice of this big man with insane athleticism. Tweets were flying in to every pro team to give him a shot off of this 45 second video alone. Scouts wanted to see if there was more to Hall other than just his limited stat line and circus showing for likes.
Now after all the ups and downs, Hall and his youtube following and hype built up through twitter campaigns will be a prospect in the draft and hope to hear his name called.
