The thundering sound of footsteps could be heard fast approaching the locker room and with it came the panting of Sam Jam who was fully out of breath as he arrived by the door. His heart rate was also racing because he was afraid that he made the fatal mistake of arriving late to a meeting he had organized. Of course, it was only a one on one meeting, but a meeting none the less. As his heart rate began to slow down and he was able to catch his breath he could hear chatter coming from the other side of the door and he knew he hadn’t missed his opportunity. Just as he was about to open the door, Maurice Virtanen walked out and noticed Sam, “there you are, so you joining me in the sauna again is it? Well let’s go then!”
The two of them entered the sauna and again they are the only ones who are enjoying the warmth of the place
Sam Jam: Does anyone else here use the sauna at all then Maurice?
Maurice: No, I usually get this all to myself, I’ve tried getting my team mates to join my, but they just keep talking about how hot it is out here Kansas City already and how they feel weird being in a hot room with naked with other men. I just don’t understand them, but maybe by the seasons end they will realize what an awesome place this is.
Sam Jam: Yeah, I have to admit that this place felt pretty awkward when I first talked to you, but no it feels like a second home to me.
Maurice: Wait are you telling me that you had to force yourself to the sauna, are you a sauna heretic? And you dare tell me this and come to my sacred space?
Sam Jam: No, no I meant that this was a new place for me and well I wasn’t sure of all of the customs, and how I should behave, no disrespect meant in this.
Maurice: Ugh, fine I guess I can take that feeble apology and move on, but I feel like I am really giving you too much rope around this issue. I think this place could really do with a good Finneducation on many things and the first thing I would start with is the magnificent sauna culture.
Sam Jam Yes, we can probably touch on that in another interview if you don’t mind…but here we are with pre-season done and one of your last trainings over before the season begins, how do you feel?
Maurice: I feel really good, pre-season was a bit smaller in terms of media involvement, but that is fine with me. I feel like we really started to gel as a team and I got in some amazing work outs, so I am really pumped for the season to start!
Sam Jam: Sounds really good, what do you feel are your chance for the new season?
Maurice: I feel that we have a real chance to compete for the Ultimini this season with a lot of offensive pieces staying around from last season and our draft class full of exciting defensive prospects that will be future stars. We have our Jays in the Banks as we say in the locker room with DSFL’s best Quarterback Jay Longshaw throwing to the best player in the DSFL in Dexter Banks and Jay Quick there to help him out. Then on the other side of the ball there is me and Net Gaines making up the best linebacker duo in the league along with playmakers such as Korrin Abernathy and JC Braddy!
Sam Jam: We shall see how the season pans out. On another note, how do you feel the veterans have taken you in?
Maurice: Really well! Always a bit nervous coming into a new locker room with so many new guys and especially those that have been here and are proven stars, but they’ve taken us under their wing and shown us the ropes and what it means to make it as a player in this league. Really thankful for them and hopefully us rookies can show them that we will help them go all the way this season.
Sam Jam: Alright let’s hope for the best then, any final words for all the numerous listeners and followers out there?
Maurice: Fear the Howl! We are coming to make our mark!
