Hello all, and welcome back to another exciting season of Taco Tuesday! We're back and better than ever, and I can't wait to analyze more head-scratching fantasy drafts in the coming weeks!
A reminder of what Taco Tuesday is for those that are new here (I swear this will get shorter and shorter as the weeks go by, but then again its a nice way to pad the word count): In the TV show "The League", there is a character named Taco who is notorious for making terrible draft decisions. So, in the essence of the character, I analyze the draft of the lowest scoring fantasy player of the league to see why they are doing so poorly.
Now that we have that out of the way, you'll notice from the title that this is a prelude to season two rather than a normal episode. Why? Because after the first week of the season, it is too difficult to gauge how players are actually doing. Somebody might have just had a bad week. Next week we will be able to see who is really doing the worst, and that is when the real fun will begin. On to the content!
WHERE ARE THEY NOW? - Spotlight on last seasons Tacos
Episode 1 - @TomHanks
Mr. Hanks had a less-than-optimal team at the beginning of the season, with a lot of talent that just seemed to bust. However, once they hit their stride, Hanks finished near the middle of the pack in scoring. Not too shabby. Let's take a look at who he drafted this year:
QB: Corvo Havran
RB: Marquise Brown
WR: Sunnycursed
WR: Vladimir Fyodorovich
TE: Johnny Blaze
FLEX: Apollo Reed
K: Kick Bobby
DEF: Wraiths
I really like this team, especially with his draft position. He was on the clock 5th, and still was able to grab Marquise Brown and then followed up with stud wideout Sunnycursed. Getting Johnny Blaze at TE will be great for him, and with a solid flex in Reed and decent second receiving option, he should be set in the most important positions. No truly bad picks or obvious reaches in my opinion.
Episode 2 - @caltroit_red_flames
I'm not going to beat around the bush here. Caltroit had one of the most headscratching, bizarre drafts I had ever seen last season. Bad decision after bad decision after drafting Brown with his first overall pick. To top it off, there was an inactive player in his draft, so he had less to compete with! Let's hope he did a better job this year:
QB: Andrew Reese
RB: Dorfus Jimbo
WR: Jordan von Matt
WR: Vinny Valentine
TE: Jammerson Irving
FLEX: Jerrod Canton
K:
DEF: Wraiths
He doesn't have a kicker yet, but so far it looks much much better than last year. Cal learned from his mistake of picking TWO Copperheads WRs and instead took two of the best receivers from last year. He has a top tier running back, solid flex, great QB, good D. He may actually contend for the top spot when its all said and done! I'm proud of the improvement from this guy.
Episode 3 - @wuma
Wuma had the next worse score ahead of caltroit, and it was after a very strange draft from all of the members in his group. There were a ton of reaches from all parties involved, and I'm willing to bet that was part of the reason that wuma didn't do so hot. His draft wasn't the worst, but it left a lot to be desired. It seems that wuma has decided not to participate in this year's fantasy league, which is unfortunate. Wuma, I hope you try again in the future!
SPECIAL PRESEASON TACO - @Daybe
Why is Daybe the preseason Taco? Well, last year he was exempt from being named as a Taco since he had a late draft. Sources have told me that he was out on a trip during the draft, so understandable. But the fact that he signed up again for this season, then went away AGAIN during the draft is inexcusable. He still doesn't have any picks, and I don't care who he selects at this point, Daybe sucks. You definitely deserve the title of Taco, Daybe. Wear it on your shirt like a scarlet letter and let the world know that you are the big dumb.
That just about wraps it up for this episode. Looking ahead, I've been informed that there have been a couple of very questionable drafts, and one in particular that might just be even dumber than caltroit's. I guarantee that person will be featured in one of the coming episodes. Tune in next week to find out, but until then, thanks for reading!
