Marshal’s Draft Analysis with Meet and Greet 4847 Words -Ready to be graded
***Exclaimer: I did not make the player signatures. The glorious creations were from @shadyshoelace ***
[BIAS BEGINS]
Co-GM – Taco MacArthur -@Duilio05 – Taco [Co]rp GM
Analysis: The Marshal’s draft room had a plan A, plan B, all the way to plan Z. The GM’s were prepared for whatever gets throw at them. From finding diamonds in the waivers to getting personality fits in the locker it looks like they knocked it out of the park for now. Holes were filled on both sides of the ball and as a result depth is now a strength of the Moustache Men. This helps maximize the sim strategy that has since been a strong suit of the Taco and Shadysholace era. This draft class has created a swarming defense that will be compared to Season 15’s #MarshalLaw by the end of season. Key pieces on the offensive side of the ball will increase the effectiveness of the already strategic offense in place. As it stands, the Marshal’s have the quickest team in the DSFL and plan to build around it.
Q: Taco MacArthur thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule! I know you and @shadyshoelace are even busier than normal with this large draft class. I’m here to give the rest of the league some insight on how the Marshal’s dominated this DSFL Season 17 draft. One of the ways to get a step up on the competition is to find those diamonds in the rough. How did you pick your IA’s late in the draft? I have limited knowledge to the rookie data base (TPE Tracker) but it seems like they were all 50 TPE?
A: Well the TPE tracker is only as accurate as the last time a player has been updated. Almost every rookie is at 50 TPE in the tracker. Concerning the IA’s, at a certain point in the draft all signs that we look for in an active player are no longer there and you just got to throw a dart and take a gamble that maybe said player will surprise everyone and come back.
Q: What was your focus of this years draft and did you accomplish it?
A: Initially our focus was to get a RB round one, but after PersonMann - Jake Utler was announced as PB GM we change tactics and went BPA for the entire draft.
Q: Major players in the league are giving S.A. the top graded draft. Besides the Marshals what franchise would you say did exceptionally well?
A: I think Norfolk crushed it. I see them potentially surprising both Portland & KCC during the season.
Q: The DSFL has high turnover compared to the NSFL, how have you been so successful as a franchise with this hurdle?
A: With the high turnover rate it can be a challenge to remain competitive. Both Shady & I witnessed the S15 Marshals struggle all season to remain relative. Getting wins is a lot of fun, but as DSFL GMs our #1 goal is to help every rookie we draft to become the best player they can be in preparation for their NSFL career.
That is a great insight into the Marshal’s management. I thank you for your time and best wishes this season! #MarshalUp!
3 - Pete Parker (S) – @jsteele14– Louisiana State University
Analysis: The first selection was agile Safety Pete Parker. You would say his extra senses have given him a TPE boost to start off the season however, that would would be selling P.P. short. As a late add to the team last year he is completing his eligibility before the NSFL. The previous game experience and offseason work will build upon the steady presence he already hard and is in line to take a big step this year. The management sure agrees by taking Parker over the ever important LB position and the graphics machine Trae Bacon.
I visited Pete at home and in the comfort of his living room I got to ask:
Q: To start off with a softball, what did the pre-draft festivities look like for you?
A: I was at home surrounded by my family. I heard rumors about me being a top Safety prospect so I tried not getting my hopes up but when I heard my name called at number 3 overall my whole family went crazy. So I’m happy to be a Marshal again.
Q: As you’ve had some experience with the Marshal’ who are you most looking forward to playing with again? And who are you excited to battle against in the league?
A: Playing with has gotta be our captain, the quarterback Jim Mcmahon. Excited to see how well he is when it comes to running the team. I hear so many good things about him. And to play against? I'm not sure. Any quarterback who seems to test me I guess. I'm gonna show how well I lock down the secondary and that QBs shouldn't test me.
Q: Being a first round pick, what do you plan to bring to the team?
A: I'm hoping to bring that strong tenacity and the will to win. Expectations will be high as I was such a high pick but I know I can deliver. I just wanna show my other teammates they can do just as well even though they were drafted later.”
Q: What do you hope to accomplish this season personally?
A: Personally I want to get DROY. Or at least the best safety known in the DSFL. Just want my skills to do all the talking
Pick 9 - Tyrone Biggums (WR) – Revolution5
What more can I say than he is the DSFL leading Rookie WR after two weeks. Only behind Saba and Dexter from last years draft.
I couldn’t line up a time to meet with Tyrone but he sent me these pictures of waffles to share with everyone.
Pick 15 – Mike Franchet (DE) - @DeadlyPlayer– Indiana University
Analysis: If Mike’s game motor is as big as his chat motor he’s going to be disruptive and I mean borderline catastrophic. His demeanor in the weight room and practice field is as contagious as his Hype game as he raises the level of his teammates. He fits into the #MarshalWall of defenders as the pursuit expert that compliments the hog mollies in the middle.
Mike was kind enough to speak with me outside on his patio. Cinnamon was ever so present in the air and I thought nothing of it until I see Mike sit down in his chais lounge with a tumbler of fireball on ice. I’d like to tell you, if a high draft pick can be a steal than the Marshal’s got one. There’s no doubt if the off field work ethic matches the on field performance you will have a great impact year one. Thanks again for sitting down with me.
Q: Where were you when your name was called?
A: Mike Franchet takes a sip of fireball with pleasing smile before answering me “I came from a small town in Indiana, so come draft day I was at home with my family just hoping to hear my name eventually called. In no way, did I think there was any possibility of going 15th overall, I am beyond blessed. I remember my family exploded with joy when they heard my name, I was still in shock!
15 overall is great accomplishment. “
Q: In all that excitement have you had time to think about who your looking forward (synonym??) to playing with or against?
A: I am really looking forward to playing with Pete Parker and Big Mac. Pete is just an amazing athlete and I am personally looking forward to seeing him pick off every QB in the DFSL, Big Mac is another one I can't wait to work with, with a name like Big Mac, you know he doesn't lack any personality! I feel like this is the true hidden reason I was drafted so high, despite my stats being lower than my teammates usually, I plan to bring it all!
Q: As you mentioned you plan to bring it all what does this look like?
A: Leadership is one. You bet your bottom dollar if my teammates make a mistake they're going to hear it. I make a mistake? I'm going to be upfront and call myself out. Another element I like to bring is hype. I’ll hype up just about anything, my teammates can attest I LOVE TO YELL, because if you're not getting hyped and excited you don't care.
Q: I love the personality and accountability! Looking inward, what do you hope to accomplish this season personally?
A: This season I just want to make the Marshals better. I am a team oriented player and will give it all to make them even .01% better. Naturally, I want to help them win it all!
Pick 21 – Footballer Blockerman (OL) - @cpetrella– Providence College
Analysis: As most DSFL teams have a ground and pound strategy an intelligent and strong O-line is key. Mr. Blockerman is the thick boy that brings just those intangibles plus a family background of NSFL experience. If the Marshal’s are to claim top spot in the rushing category than this will be the key to it all right here.
Q: How were the predraft festivities for THE Blockerman?
A: The pre-draft was very fun for me. I got together with some of my O-Liner friends, Givussafare Rubbe, Eeeee Silvverremm, and the denied from the league @caltroitredflames boughtmeafleshlight. We celebrated the rise of the O Liner and had a great time.
Q: As an O-lineman you have a busy social life. Was there any chances to meet up with the Marshal’s to get to know your teammates before the season? And who are you excited to battle against in the league?
A: I don’t really know anyone on the team but that’s totally cool! I’m always willing to meet new people. I haven’t had much time to interact since I’ve had a super busy week but I’m sure that everyone is great! I’m looking forward to playing the Solar Bears since a lot of the O Liners went there and we can brag about our pancakes.
Q: What characteristics do you plan to bring to the Marshal’s?
A: I’ve always been a hard hat and lunch pail kinda guy, and that works well with Blockerman being an O Liner for sure. Gonna go out there and make my teammates better.
Q: What do you hope to accomplish this season personally?
A: I want to lead the DSFL in pancakes and help the team to win my second Ultimini.
Pick 27 – Fabricio Baldari (DE) - @Sermokala– University of Minnesota
Or a more accurate depiction of Fabricio:
Analysis: Fun fact – bears can run up to 40 miles per hour which is fast enough to catch a running horse. Throw some pads on Fabrico and QB/RB’s have something terrifying to worry about at night. Fab compliments this all active D-Line with natural awareness and the ability to smell fear in the opponent.
Fabrico was kind enough to let me into his cave. He was more polite than you would think of a bear… not quite Smokey the bear but more of the Baloo type.
Q: Anything entertaining happen for the predraft?
A: I went to germany to play with my friends in Osnabruck before just digging another bedroom in my cave in Northern Minnesota. I was told my draft position through a note with my daily meat
Q: Is there any player on the Marshals you look forward to playing with? And does any team or player in the league intrigue you to compete against?
A: I was worried I would have to eat franchek in a fight for dominance over the top DE on the team but we have gotten along well together and started the #FFR movement in a fight against fair rubs. I'm not sure who particularly will be the most enjoyable prey (I've been burned on bad fish before) but those dirty Tijuwaraja boys are definitly the top target.
Q: That was an interesting answer and moving on. Any special skills you plan on bringing to the team?
A: I say don't ask what you can bring to your team but what your team can bring to you. I got 6 million dollars and game time to get to the NSFL from them and I'm gonna make good on that investment
Q: I sure hope you make great on that investment. What do you hope to accomplish this season personally?
A: I'm gona eat some juicy footballer meat. My boy rich evans told me the juicy shaq meat was the best but that pray had aged so the next best thing is nice and primed QB meat.
I'm gona beat that QB meat down until its good and tender and then I'm going to eat the QB stirght on the field and no one better stop me or they'll get these hands! I'm talking literal murder and consumption of the living player is my intent
but only after the meat has been beaten enough I've honestly never done it before so I don't know when that'll be.
Pick 28 - Traded from Tijuana – Louisiana Purchase (CB) – @Modern_Duke – University of Southern California
Analysis: Throwing against Louisiana Purchase is a bad idea just like…. The Louisiana Purchase. Opposing quarterbacks are going to be more in debt than the USA after they make a throw his way. Mr. Purchase was a ball hawk at USC that brings equilibrium to the secondary opposite the hard nosed gunslinger Juan.
Q: What did the pre draft look like for you?
A: Pre-draft was pretty quiet. I had no idea when I was going to be taken so I didn't want to have a whole crowd of people waiting around nervously for hours. So I kept it low key on the couch with the fam.
Q: Are you clicking with anyone on the Marshals yet? As for opponents, anyone you have marked down on the schedule?
A: Mike Franchet is a madman, as I'm sure you're aware by now. Pete Parker is a straight up ball hawk from what I've seen so far. Ronald "The Watt" Watkins was a stud last year and he's back. You can't not get excited to play with a defense like this. And who do I want to the play against? The best competition I can find. I was going to say whoever was the first WR picked, but I'm looking right at him so I don't have to worry about that. So instead I'll go with the second WR taken...checks phone Jake Watson. Bring it on.
Q: The team traded up for you. How does that make you feel and how is that going to translate to the locker room?
A: I was shocked, honestly. From what I was hearing pre-draft, I was pretty confident I was going to Tijuana. So when pick 28 came around I was kind of expecting to be taken, but I wasn't expecting it to be San Antonio.
Q: How are you going to help the team and what personal goals do you hold?
A: What am I going to bring to the team? Well, a couple of wins, that's for sure. I want to be the number 1 corner in the league. Plain and simple.
Pick 33 – Mathias Hanyadi (RB) - @CLG Rampage – University of Massachusetts
Analysis: Hanyadi tore up the prospect bowl playoffs and should continue that tear in the Marshal’s two-headed rushing attack. He is a speedster with great hands. That will give Jim McMahon a great outlet when he gets in trouble and a reliable mover of the chains on runs. RB’s are the king of the DSFL so many wonder why he fell so far. The Moustache Rides for 5 cents guys will gladly take this RB ready to prove the many that passed on him.
Q: Prospects either throw an all out party or have an exclusive party for friends and family. What did you do?
A: Pre draft, I was at home in Boston with my family and my coaches, along with a few teammates. Once I got the phone call and the pick was announced, the place exploded.
Q: How is the backfield going to work in S.A. this year? Any one in particular you’re looking forward to facing this season?
A: I'm excited to play with Ruff Ruff, the other running back we picked up in the draft. We're gonna be working in tandem and I think we're gonna have a hell of a rushing attack. I'm hoping we have good games against Tijuana, they have a big draft class with a lot of good players, so those should be good games to watch.
Q: Many are calling you and Ruff Ruff the steals of the draft. What do you plan to bring to the Moustache Men?
A: I bring a strong work ethic and a desire to make everyone around me better. We're here as a team, let's improve as a team.
Q: Any personal goals or stepping stones you have in mind this season?
A: I just wanna get better as a player, I'm hoping to rush for at least a thousand yards this season, so we'll see how it goes.
Pick 39 – Steco Ocewilder (TE) - @soppychico– Auburn University
Analysis: Steco aka The AlaHoe because he will be catching all the sexy touchdowns (#STD) this season. Mr. Ocewilder is 2nd all time in receiving touchdowns at Auburn and I’m sure we will be seeing a lot of tweets with #STD coming from this dynamic threat. He will have a learning period while he is asked to block more than he’s used to but if he puts as much effort into his blocking technique as his tweeting than he will grow into this role nicely as a duel threat.
Q: Paint a picture of draft night for me.
A: I didn’t wanna go too crazy with the pre draft party because I didn’t see myself mocked high at all so I just had some friends over and we drank some beer, played some madden, an overall chill night. However! The night got crazier after I was drafted way earlier than I thought! I was fine with going undrafted but top 40 in this legendary draft class is something to be hyped about. Me n the boyz went a lil nuts. Lots of things were thrown into the pool at my apartment bc f*ck it, I was about to get that contract money.
Q: The border patrol have some established veterans and big group of rookies, any stand out that you can’t wait to play with? As well, any rookies you look forward to facing off against?
A: I’m really excited to play on the same side field with you (Tyrone Biggums). I think you were the best wr in the draft I think I can learn a lot such as routes and the nuances of being a receiver. Also I think Fireball Franchet is one hell of a guy and am excited to practice against that defense with him and Bubba Thumper, who I’m a huge fan of. You can’t forget that secondary too! Mr Louisiana purchase is gonna be really fun to match up with in practice and can only make me better and I just hope Pete Parker doesn’t make me look horrible in front of the coaches. You always wanna be the best at your position so i think the friendly competition between me and the first tight end selected in our draft class, Zach hall, should be real fun to pay attention to. Bjorn Ironside is A FORCE and honestly excited to watch him work, as a fan. But I expect our stout Oline to slow him down especially with Blockerman now.
Q: You seem like a team guy. What do you plan on adding to the locker room?
A; Hate to be the cliche but I believe I am that guy that brings the grit. Not a loud person so I won’t be a vocal leader, but hope to lead by example. First in, last out, never complain, and do everything that’s asked of me.
Q; Statistically how would you like to contribute?
A: Hope to be a weapon and they can use me however they need. Number 1 is win the championship with my fellow marshals. I wouldn’t hate it to lead the DSFL in touchdowns either. #MarshalorDeath !
Pick 45 – Ruff Ruff (RB) - @Shadowz – Precious Paws Canine Institute
Analysis: The lore has it Ruff Ruff can to a bazillion and 5 pushups. This strength will be called upon to carry the team if Hanyadi ever goes down. As an experienced player (some say that he has 7 times the action) as most rookies Mr. Ruff should carve up the defense on backside cuts and patiently waiting for his blocks like he did at all his years in the Pound League. The added benefit of being in a backfield split is both backs should be fresh to finish off the close games in the DSFL.
Q: How was draft night for you?
A: I was at the club getting lit because I knew I was about to pop off and go 1st overall. Ended up passed out in an alley the next morning with a massive hangover and a text on my phone saying I got taken 45th.
Q: Now that hopefully the hangover is gone, anyone Moustache Men you are looking forward to playing with? And anyone inparticular are you excited to battle against in the league?
A; Honestly everybody. As it usually goes with sim leagues, happy to be welcomed into a new team locker room and new personalities along with it. Hoping we can work hard and muscle out some wins. As far as battling, it's not a 1-1 matchup on positions, but I look forward to shitting on @pazuzu (lINK!!) 's create. He and I are bros, but his WR is gonna be trashed compared to the Canine Crusader, Ruff Ruff.
Q: How do you see yourself fitting with the team and any roles you’d like to take?
A: I have a fair amount of sim league experience so I at least hope to fulfill somewhat of a leadership role, even if that experience is only marginally from the NSFL in the past. I also think (hopefully I'm correct) that I'm a pretty easygoing guy, so I get along with most people and can provide a fun locker room presence. Also of course Ruff Ruff brings his adorable coat and the occasional bone and stick or two back to the locker room.
Q: Everyone loves a soft puppy coat! Personally have you set any goals for yourself?
A: I would say that I hope to just be a good consistently updating presence for the Marshals. You can't necessarily control how well you do in the sim, you can only control how much effort you put in to give your player the best chance possible to do well in the sim. So rather than paint some relatively arbitrary target as far as how many yards I want to get, I want to make my goals things I can measure--TPE growth, my presence in the locker room, meeting the guys, etc.
Pick 57 – William Mitchel (S) - @ConMan_NH – University of New Hampshire
Analysis: With Pete Parker roaming the deep secondary Mr. Mitchel is the swiss army knife. In college he covered TE’s, blew up run plays and the odd time played deep. The ying and yang in the secondary are going to keep offenses off balance allowing the front four to get to the quarterback.
Q: How’d you organize the pre draft party?
A: The pre draft festivities were pretty tame, I was home with my family in Portsmouth, just watching the draft and hoping for a call.
Q: In this big incoming class have you got the chance to meet everyone? And anyone in particular you are looking to forward are you excited to battle against in the league?
A: I'm still getting to meet all my teammates and just focusing on building chemistry with each of them, so I don't have an answer for that yet. I'm excited to go up against Tijuana and hopeful take the conference from them.
Q: What characteristic do you plan on brining the moustache men?
A: I'm like to think that I'm a hard worker and I know I will do everything I can to make this team feel like drafting me was the right decision.
Q: What goals do you have this season?
A: I hope to figure out the ins and outs of the league and start to make an impact -- both on and off the field
Waiver Pickup Analysis:
To have an outstanding draft without missing any picks AND add two actives from waivers…. cool me down and call me Sally. That may be the biggest game changer of them all. The trench battle is where the war is won and lost but beefing up the outside always helps. Just because they are behind in TPE doesn’t mean they won’t catch up.
Waiver Legend - Juan Marston (CB) - @Jepox
Q: Word on the street is you are related to the single season rushing TD holder for coyotes. Does your game defensively produce those big plays or are you more of a slow and steady kind of player?
A: No relation to the guy, heard he's a stud though. I do plan to be a big play kind of guy who can force a fumble or grab an interception every time I’m near the ball.
Q: Would you say you are you as quick to the ball as you are on the draw?
A: Easily yeah. I ran halfway across the damn country, there's no way anyone can catch me on this relatively small field.
Q: It seems like you’re deadly in one on one duels. Is there a WR or TE or team you’re looking forward to battling against?
A: There's nobody in particular that I'm interested in. They're all the same to me
Q: What are you looking to bring to the Marshals and hope to accomplish this season?
A: Title or bust. I'm just trying to provide great play and make myself a tough cover for any receiver.
Waiver Steal - Asher Quinn (WR) - @Dewalt27- William Penn University
Q: Who are you most looking forward to playing with on the Marshals? And who are you excited to battle against in the league?
A: Looking forward to playing with 2 players 1. Tyrone Biggums, He's been a mentor since joining the league showing me the ropes and teaching me the skills to better myself. 2. Jim McMahon, Its always important for a Qb and WR to be on the same page. Jim has big expectations for me and I look forward to playing with and learning from him.
Q: What do you plan to bring to the team?
A: I'm most excited to play and beat the Tijuana luchadors. I plan to bring a grinder mentality (work ethic) and intensity to the team. Both at practice and in the games.
Q: What do you hope to accomplish this season personally?
A: This season my goal is to continue to improve as a player while learning the team and the system. I would like to also maintain a high catch rate, one that would rival Saba Donut or Dexter Banks last year.
I tried to get in contact with the remaining players however they were too busy training individually back at their respective homes. If they keep the grinding and decided to join the team they will arguable boost the floor of the team and really elevate the play the Marshal’s.
Pick 51 – Chico De La Agua (LB) - @jordanjgonzalez922 – University of Connecticut
Pick 63 – Abashai Williams (DT) - @himynameisroy – University of Texas San Antonio
Pick 69 – Jack Mahoff (CB) - @SeanMcGinger – University of Maryland
Pick 75 – Big Max (DT) - @tweety_bird – University of Nebraska
Pick 81 – CHIGG Bungus (TE) - @Sereber – Drake University
Pick 87 – Richard Dangle (WR) - @AustinUSC – University of Miami
Pick 93 – Max Power (K) - @waywardson – US Air Force Academy
Pick 99 – Dave Anima (K) - @Bigburgers – Dave Anima
Pick 104 – Traded from 105 – Victor Bravo (QB) - @CaptainCrunchChoo – Ohio State University

His demeanor in the weight room and practice field is as contagious as his Hype game as he raises the level of his teammates. He fits into the #MarshalWall of defenders as the pursuit expert that compliments the hog mollies in the middle.
