Now that we are at the halfway point of the season and have got a general sense on the lay of the land and how teams have stacked up against each other, it is also good to have a look at how the players in the most important position in football are doing. Yes, you are correct, it is time for the QB Power Rankings! In these rankings I have looked at the stats of the QB’s, how their team is doing, how much of their team’s success is owed to them and tried to rank them accordingly. If you feel like your QB is too low or why is that idiot from Philadelphia so high I do not care and all hate mail can be directed towards my assistant. Without further interruptions, let's get started.
#1 - Joliet L. Christ
13 Touchdowns, 1 Interception, 99 QBR, 335.7 Y/G, 63.1% Completions
So when I started doing these rankings and looking over the stats, it was pretty clear from the get go who I would put number one and that is Sabercats quarterback Joliet L. Christ. Why was this easy you ask? Looking through all the different categories will give you the answer. Christ is first in completion percentage, yards per game (while only having the third highest passing attempts), QB rating, he accounts for almost 85% of his teams total yards, leads them in rushing and the Sabercats who many people had as a bottom feeder team have surprised everyone and are second in the always competitive ASFC. They are only one game behind the conference and league leading Outlaws and this is largely thanks to the great play they have got from their quarterback. Oh and did I mention that he has only thrown one interception all season, talk about a good quarterback
#2 - Andrew Reese
14 Touchdowns, 5 Interception, 84 QBR, 312.3 Y/G, 56.67% Completions
Ranking who should be number one was easy, but deciding who should take second place wasn’t the most difficult task. Reese has led the Outlaws to a league leading 6-1 record while accounting for 70% of their total touchdown and over 75% of their total yards. In addition to being third in yards per game he is second in rushing yards by quarterbacks and is not turning the ball over with only 5 total interceptions. Reese may not shine in all the categories, but he is still a big part of the offense on the team with the league leading record and makes him climb to number two
#3 - Cooter Bigsby
16 Touchdowns, 8 Interception, 77.3 QBR, 318.1 Y/G, 51.98% Completions
After the first two positions, this is where things started getting harder. After a shaky start to the season, Cooter Bigsby has really turned his and the Wraiths fortunes around. People may point to him being all volume stats with the highest number of passing attempts. It is true that he also does have the lowest completion percentage, just under 52%. He also does have the third lowest QB rating out of the group, but still he deserves his place at number three. With no true run game to speak of as their main running back Canton is more of an extra receiver, Bigsby has made sure that the Wraiths have stayed relevant through the air, whether those passes are going short to Canton or long to their other receiver group. Bigsby has the second highest number of TD passes, a respectable 16 to 8 TD-INT ratio and the Wraiths sit atop the NSFC
#4 - Corvo Havran
18 Touchdowns, 8 Interception, 93.1 QBR, 280 Y/G, 59.4% Completions
Now I feel like this is where things start to get interesting and feelings might get hurt (but I don’t really care, these are for my enjoyment). The Baltimore Hawks enter the midway point of the season with slightly disappointing 3-4 record, but the blame for that cannot all be put on the shoulders of Havran and his offense. Havran leads the league in passing touchdowns, is third in QB rating and fourth in yards per game. He has an 18 to 8 TD-INT ratio and accounts for 90% of his teams touchdowns. Clearly Baltimore has to hold extra practice sessions for their running backs on how to punch the ball in, but Havran doesn’t need any extra practice sessions and earns his place at number four
#5 - Adriana Falconi
13 Touchdowns, 6 Interception, 84.6 QBR, 269.6 Y/G, 59.54% Completions
When we enter the halfway point of our rankings, we find Liberty quarterback Adriana Falconi waiting for us. People might wonder why she is here as the Liberty are struggling at 2-5 and at the bottom of the NSFC and her stats don't jump out at you. The thing is though that Falconi is trying her very best to increase her teams chances to win, with a 13 to 6 TD-INT ratio she is putting points on the board and not turning the ball over. It does not help that her running attack has only mustered a league worst 528 yards and 3 touchdowns. This means that Falconi is accounting for over 78% of her teams yards and 82% of total touchdowns. If the Liberty’s defense and running game could step it up, Falconi would show everyone why she is the number five ranked quarterback
#6 - Rose Jenkins
10 Touchdowns, 4 Interception, 94.5 QBR, 199.4 Y/G, 61.54% Completions
The ladies find themselves one after another with Rose Jenkins coming in at number six in the power rankings. Some might look at the Butcher’s 5-2 record and wonder why is Jenkins only at number six. The Butcher’s have been doing very well this season, but I am not sure it is all due to what Jenkins has been doing. I am not saying that she isn’t a good quarterback, but they haven't really asked her to do a lot this season. She has the fewest passing attempts of any quarterback and second lowest yards per game, but still has the second highest completion percentage and quarterback rating among her peers. She has many good stats but she accounts for less than half of her teams touchdowns and just over 51% of their total yards. She is doing her part well but I feel the Butcher’s as a whole are a really great team so this puts her at number 6
#7 - Easton Cole
10 Touchdowns, 5 Interception, 82.9 QBR, 231.4 Y/G, 60.75% Completions
Easton Cole is an interesting case and a bit of a mixed bag at quarterback but how much more can you expect of a second year signal caller? Cole is an accurate quarterback with third highest completion percentage, at 2 to 1 TD-INT ratio and is accounting for 13 of 14 total team touchdowns. On the other hand he has the third lowest yards per game, a middle of the pack quarterback rating and is only accounting for 63% of his teams total yards. The Copperheads have surprised many people this season, while only having a 2-5 record to show for it, I feel there is a lot of promise on the team and Cole is one of the future stars, but currently he can only rise to number seven on the power rankings
#8 - Franklin Amstrong
12 Touchdowns, 9 Interception, 75 QBR, 267.3 Y/G, 55.18% Completions
Many saw a big season coming for the Orange County Otters and they do have a lot of great pieces to make it work, but to fully realize their potential they will need better play from Franklin Armstrong. Looking across the stats, none of them really stand out to you with Armstrong being third last in completion percentage, the second lowest quarterback rating and having the highest number of interceptions. The Otters are clearly putting faith into Armstrong, shown by his 299 attempts that rank third among quarterbacks, but he will need to improve many aspects in the future to bring the Otters to the promised land
#9 -Stan Francisco
7 Touchdowns, 6 Interception, 81.8 QBR, 267 Y/G, 57.5% Completions
Now we have come to bottom two in my rankings and the two that really stood out to me, but in a bad way. The New Orleans Second Line have the privilege of having the leagues word record and Stan Francisco is not helping them out at all. In many categories, Francisco is actually quite a middle of the pack quarterback, apart from the fact that he has nearly as many interceptions as touchdowns, and he has only thrown for a total of seven touchdowns. You need to be able to put the ball in the endzone and until Francisco is able to do that, I am not sure how far the Second Line can go and he will be stuck at number nine on these rankings
#10 -Wolfie McDummy
4 Touchdowns, 4 Interception, 68.9 QBR, 164.3 Y/G, 54.55% Completions
Ah yes, the glorious and infamous last place on my power rankings. Something that I don't think anyone truly wants, but this time the honor goes to Colorado Yeti’s quarterback Wolfie McDummy. I do’t know if there is a nice way to say this really, but McDummy has been really bad so far this season. The Yeti as a whole have shown a lot of fight this season, but I don’t think that applies to McDummy. He has the lowest quarterback rating, under half the total passing yards of those at the top of the standings and the second lowest completion percentage. In addition to all of this, he has only thrown four touchdowns, complemented with four interceptions. I am not really sure if there is anything good to look at currently, but I guess the only way is up from there? Good luck Wolfie and the rest of Yeti’s
With that I will sign off from the Power Rankings, hopefully everyone has enjoyed reading them!
#1 - Joliet L. Christ
