(@illegaloctopus don't take it too personally, but you started this. I'm finishing it.)
Portland, OR - A surprising series of events unfolded on Monday night. One Tijuana Luchadore had some very choice words for Pythons wide receiver Jake Watson in a surprisingly honest media article.
"The thing I am looking forward to most in this upcoming game is exposing Jake Watson for the player that he really is: underwhelming." This quote, coming from Tijuana safety Joseph Wozniak, was completely unprovoked and off-kilter in a professional league. "This game is going to show why Tijuana was so willing to give up Jake Watson, he’s just not good enough," Wizniak continued.
These comments from a professional player are usually unheard of. Immediately, Watson released a statement blasting Wojniak, saying "I'm sorry, who is this bum? I'll have Cue read your name while I burn you all night. Pythons will win 100% and someone's going to look real foolish." Watson is usually a very reserved player in public interactions but today, he is holding nothing back when talking about Wozmiok. I caught up with Watson before the game started tonight to see what he had to say. Immediately, you could see something set off and Watson began a rant.
"I don't know who that is. I had to look him up when he released that article. Do you really think that if I released an article, people would need to look me up to know who it is coming from? Hell no. He's at, what, 130 TPE? I'm at nearly 170 and will reach the 200 mark next week. No one needs to look up Jake Watson in this draft class. Now, who does this guy think he is to come after me like this? I did nothing to set this guy off. Here's a guy who is so obsessed with me, he created an entire media piece and collaborated with a reporter before I had ever talked to him. I'm in his mind and there's no way I'm moving out after this game. He better thank his lucky stars that he's not a cornerback or else the only thing toasted on that field tonight wouldn't be my GM. I don't know his number, his story, or what makes him so special after I burned his secondary last time and like I'm about to do tonight. He's going to need to get his sorry ass out of the locker room early tonight before y'all catch up with him. And what's up with him saying Tijuana didn't want me? TomHanks, Tijuana general manager, has told me numberous times that he wanted me and wished he didn't get such a good offer for me. When he talks about being wanted, he should learn that being a 2nd round pick and being traded for is a hell of a lot more desired than being a 6th rounder and having to sit in the green room while 34 guys are taking in front of you."
Wow. Harsh words from Watson. When asked about why he had such words for a former teammate, Watson retorted, "I've never been his teammate. I was picked and long gone by the time some team took enough pity on him and took him. I don't want to be lowered down so much by being called a former teammate of his."
"They won last time but it was a fluke. We were the better team. There was something going on that game but I don't want to get fined by voicing my opinion on what it was."
After these hostile words, Watson went to the field for warm ups, fueled by rage for being called out by Woniac. In their first meetup, Watson went for 4 catches, 41 yards, and an impressive 2 touchdowns. Woznook also had a solid game, piling up 8 tackles to go along with a sack and a forced fumble.
During tonight's game, a thrilling 24-17 Portland win that cements their place as the top seed in the playoffs, Watson was relatively quiet but didn't back down on his pre-gane comments.
"Who got the win and who didn't? That's all I need to know. I don't even need to catch balls to beat that sorry team. We'll see them again in the Ultimini and I'll up my performance. They won't have a chance. I didn't notice that bum making any plays, either. If he did, maybe he should've tried a little harder to cover Donut and do something meaningful instead of running his mouth about a player on the better team. That's all I have to say. I think the game speaks for itself" Watson finished as he cleaned up his gear.
"And go find that bum and ask him what happened. I bet you won't find him. He didn't even show up tonight."
