"Hello ladies and gentlemen, this is Bjørn Ironside reporting in from the S18 Sports Center. We're bringing you all the off season action and today we have another free agency announcement. One of the best young defensive tackles in the entire NSFL has decided that he will in fact test free agency. Just hours before the conference championship games, it seemed likely that Yellowknife's Ryan Leaf Jr was likely to stay with the team for another season. After another heartbreaking playoff loss, it seems that he has had a change of heart and intends to dive into everything free agency has to offer. Lets dive in and see what Leaf's thoughts are on the process."
Ironside: "You've had a crazy few seasons with the team that selected you in the S15 draft. Yellowknife once again was eliminated before reaching the championship game after being favored to win it all a second season in a row. How have you handled that?"
ValorX77: "Listen, the sim for some odd reason hates our team. Especially our kicker, who arguably put up the worst stats I’ve ever seen from a kicker in this league."
Ironside: "This is the end of your rookie contract and you're facing free agency. Word is that you've decided to test the marker and see what you're worth. What has brought you to that decision?"
ValorX77: "The reason I wanted to enter free agency is to get a feel of what it’s like, trying to figure out what deal is best or which team is best for me."
Ironside: "Have you completely closed the door on a return to Yellowknife or are you planning to hear out their offers should they want you to stay?"
ValorX77: "I haven’t ruled out resigning with the Wraiths. That organization has been fine over the past few seasons."
Ironside: "Obviously things haven't gone well in Yellowknife and rumor is that one of their GMs are stepping down. Have you considered potentially trying to take over a management position in the NSFL?"
ValorX77: "I’ve been always wanted to be a general manager since the first day I stepped into this league. I know all the ropes to the depth chart and how to sim test stuff."
Ironside: "The last time you experienced something like this, the choice wasn't in your hands. You were pursued by GMs, but ultimately you were third party to the process and had to wait to see what team picked you up. What is it like to know that you have all the power now?"
ValorX77: "I personally feel better that I have the control over negotiations and requests for my contract, as you can tell by my rookie contract, you could see why I think i was underpaid."
Ironside: "Obviously you're a defensive tackle and a much sought after position in the league. Still, there are a few potential prospects on the market. What makes you stand out? Why should teams be looking at Ryan Leaf Jr first?"
ValorX77: "The reason I stand out is that I’m the second highest TPE defensive tackle in my draft class, one reason they should consider me is that I was a RDT."
Ironside: "Are there any teams that you specifically hope contact you this off season? What are you looking for in your next stop in the NSFL?"
ValorX77: "I’m confident teams like Baltimore, Yellowknife, Arizona, and even NOLA take a look at me. And hopefully, one of them take a chance on me
Ironside: "As you head into negotiations with teams, what are you looking for as far as commitment? Are you looking to settle up somewhere long term or are you hoping to keep it short and sweet so you can test the waters first?"
ValorX77: "I prefer a short term deal as I usually take a look at my contract on a season by season basis."
Ironside: "Finally, you're now heading into you fourth year and you should really be shaping into your prime. Regardless of team, what are you goals on the season?"
ValorX77: "My personal goals for S18, are simple, five tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, and two forced fumbles."
"Ryan Leaf Jr seems to want to see exactly how teams value him now that he's had a few seasons under his belt. His time with the Wraiths wasn't all roses and rainbows as they have faced heartbreaking loss after heartbreaking loss while being favorites to win it all. The repeated failures that have led to them losing at home in the playoffs to teams who were considered the underdogs has to add up and it looks like Leaf may need some time away from the team that drafted him. He's a man of few words, but his displeasure in the way this last game played out was palpable. Hopefully we can see him making plays next season in a new uniform and on another championship race. This has been another Ironside’s Blindside. Ironside signing off."
