"Hello ladies and gentlemen, this is Bjørn Ironside reporting in from the S18 Sports Center. We're getting a chance at another exclusive with Ryan Leaf Jr. Last we spoke, he was planning to test free agency for a bit. He has since dipped his toes and decided to stick it out with the Wraiths. Today we get a chance to see what drove him in this free agency period and how he came to his decision. Let's dive in and see what he had to say."
Ironside: "A lot has happened since we last sat down with you. You got to test the open market for the first time in your career. What was that like for you?"
ValorX77: “Free agency is a rather interesting thing. People are stuck in a state of mind where they are not sure what to do or where to go, it’s a state of chaos and I liked it.”
Ironside: "You decided to settle for resigning with the Wraiths. What went into you decision to stay put with the team that drafted you?"
ValorX77: “It took awhile to make a decision for my future, but Yellowknife gave me an extremely solid pitch that included a solid contract and a solid position.”
Ironside: "Were there any other teams that made a solid pitch to you? Was there anyone who almost tempted you away from your home in Yellowknife?"
ValorX77: “There was one other team that was close to signing me, that was the Arizona Outlaws. I almost believe they were driving it home at some point, but they just missed the mark on the contract.”
Ironside: "Now that you've experienced fee agency, is it something you would do again or that you would suggest other players do?"
ValorX77: “I would personally suggest free agency if you feel that your stats are underwhelming and if you have a beef in the locker room with a teammate you just don’t like.”
Ironside: "Do you feel like the Wraiths have a chance to finally get to a championship with the moves they've made in the off season so far?"
ValorX77: “I feel we always have a strong chance, but it all depends on the sim.”
Ironside: "Now that you know where you'll be playing next season, what are your personal goals now?"
ValorX77: “I personally set high expectations for myself and the Wraiths. It’s quite simple really. Win an Ultimus, get 10+ sacks, and a couple forced fumbles and tackles for loss.”
Ironside: "Obviously the draft is happening this weekend. What positions would you like to see Yellowknife fill in this S18 draft?"
ValorX77: “During the offseason, our running backs told us that S18 would be their last season in the league. So a RB, or possibly a LDT would work out.”
Ironside: "Final question. Is there anything else you would like to say to the league or your teammates?"
ValorX77: “This will be one heck of a season, and of course don’t expect your team to win the Ultimus, because the sim will find a way to screw you over.”
"As you can see, Ryan Leaf really seems to be happy in Yellowknife. He has faith in the team and can see them pushing their limits this season as they work towards a title. They've come short in two consecutive years with soul crushing home losses, but every season they seem to get just a little better. They're going to keep grinding and who knows? With a little luck we will see Leaf and the rest of the Wraiths competing in the Ultimus at the end of next season. Until next time, Ironside signing off."
