"Hello ladies and gentlemen, this is Bjørn Ironside reporting in from the S18 Sports Center. Today we have some breaking news involving S18 rookie and third overall pick, Tyrone Biggums. The guy has been an absolute beast since entering the league and has been one of the leaders in this class in almost every way. Hard working, dedicated, and always trying to push beyond his limits as he honed his craft. Now he has decided to try out something new. As he settles into Orange County, Biggums has decided a position swap to the defensive side of things. Lets dive in and see what made this decision work for Biggums."
Ironside: "To start off, you've just been drafted to the Orange County Otters. Was this somewhere you thought you would end up?"
Tyrone Biggums: “Before the draft process started I never thought I’d go to the otters at three… maybe at nine. As the scouting discussions with all teams picked up there was a lot of interest and some saying that I might not make it to them. I don’t think all GM’s are like Adam playing mind games so I knew there was some truth to it.
Ironside: "Now that the draft is over, how do you think your new team did with their selections?
Tyrone Biggums: “I think they knocked it out of the park for the most part. They picked up impact players in the secondary/ linebacker and a super sleeper in Charles Allen who has already been making a name for himself in practice. I am interested in how they are going to fill the defensive line needs in the coming seasons.”
Ironside: "So the reason you wanted to talk today was that you're announcing a position change. What has made you decide to move not only away from wide receiver, but from the offense altogether?"
Tyrone Biggums: “I told all the scouts for the NSFL that I would do whatever was best for the team. Stay in the DSFL, change positions or whatever it may be I would do. I want to win. By going to the Otters I fully entrust them as they are the reigning champs to guide me in the right direction and helping them in the secondary was it.”
Ironside: "You've decided to settle down in the secondary. Why did you pick safety over the cornerback position?"
Tyrone Biggums: “Our secondary has a lot of quality impact players already in it. To help with filling in certain holes for our scheme this year while regression coming around the corner from our all star Dan Schneider played a big roll in choosing a safety. Dabbling in the secondary in college practice and having to study the offense for my wide receiving career has prepared me well for diagnosing plays as a safety. I will be running forward more than backpedaling if I was a corner.”
Ironside: "How do you think this position change will impact your play? Do you think you'll continue to have a big impact on the field?"
Tyrone Biggums: “For the Otters I certainly will. Hugh Mungo, Johnny Blaze, and Dexter Banks are veterans that know how to get the job done. On another team I could of easily been the wide receiver two that grows into the number one but this is the path that I’m on. The path to an Ultimus which the Otters clearly have travelled that path as being in the playoffs I is a streak they hold of seventeen consecutive seasons .”
Ironside: "What are your personal goals now as a player? Obviously they have to be different than they were at wide receiver."
Tyrone Biggums: “I am not a stats guy so my goals do not reflect that. I want the team to win. I may sound like a broken record but if that takes me eating up a blocker for my team mate to make a play then that’s my goal. If the end of the season we are champions I have done my job.”
Ironside: "This isn't something that happens often and a lot of players question what kind of effect it will have on their career. Would you ever consider another position change in the future and would you suggest it to others?"
Tyrone Biggums: “I absolutely would. As I get older, many positions would be off the table as I would not be able to gain the necessary weight to be effective. If they wanted me to catch some passes, return kicks or slide into the box as a linebacker I’d put my helmet on and go to work.”
Ironside: "You've had a couple days to look at the locker room. You've got a great head on your shoulders. What do you think the potential of this Orange County team is?"
Tyrone Biggums: “Thank you for the kind words Ironside. However, if a I say anything less than an Ultimus than I’m selling the team short. They have a long playoff streak and are the reigning champs. If we can rebuild the defense as it ages to keep up with the young explosive offense then we should keep up the domination.”
Ironside: "What does it feel like now to know you're in the NSFL? You're joining the big leagues and with this position swap, you'll be diving right into the action. Do you feel ready for it?"
Tyrone Biggums: “I’m more than ready. A lot of the top teams in the draft asked about my defensive skills so I’ve been sneaking in some defender drills. As for how I feel entering the NSFL? A bit like a kid in a candy store as everything is new and exciting and mine for the taking.“
Ironside: "Is there anything else you'd like to say to the league or your teammates before we head off?"
Tyrone Biggums: “I look forward to playing with all of you and working towards the same goal. And the Canadian in my has to say sorry to the rest of the league because this defense just got even nastier!”
"Tyrone Biggums really seems to have this figured out. He's willing to do whatever it takes to help his team get to another championship even if that means moving to another position. He's an athletic freak with a high level of intelligence and I don't think this switch should really impact him at all. He knows what he is doing and he's excited to dive into the season and that is really all you can expect from a young player. I wish him all the best in his new role and really hope it pays off for him in the long run. until next time, Ironside signing off."
