Ranking NSFL Team Offences prior to S18 start
Time to focus on the other side of the ball. The rooster I created for each team assumed the QB, 2 x RB, 3 x WR, TE, OL (100 TPE for T1, 200 for T2 and so on, 1:1 for user's OL that we have 2, for now it will work, but likely will have to modify formula later on) & the Kicker. I pondered about using some weighted TPE formula since RB #1 is more important than RB #2 almost always, similarly with WRs. Some teams lacked bodies for tight end position, I couldn't even find RB/WR to slide over there. And my pondering resulted in the following weighted overall used for final ratings:
10. San Jose SaberCats
Personnel:
Quarterback: S15 Dan Wright
Running back #1: S10 Chris Orosz Running Back
Running back #2: S12 Fast Boija Running Back
Wide Receiver #1: S09 Xavier Flash
Wide Receiver #2: S11 Ty Justice
Wide Receiver #3: S18 Marcella T?riki
Tight Ends: S15 Cameron Olsen
Offensive Line: 2 x T4, 4 x T3
Punter/Kicker: S17 Kicky Bobby
Ranks:
Quarterback: 702 TPE (4 Conference / 8 Overall)
Running back #1 277 TPE (5 Conference / 10 Overall)
Running back #2 267 TPE (3 Conference / 6 Overall)
Runnings Backs: 544 TPE (5 Conference / 10 Overall)
Wide Receiver #1: 611 TPE (4 Conference / 9 Overall)
Wide Receiver #2: 228 TPE (5 Conference / 9 Overall)
Wide Receiver #3: 209 TPE (4 Conference / 7 Overall)
Wide Receivers: 1048 TPE (5 Conference / 10 Overall)
Tight Ends: 779 TPE (1 Conference / 1 Overall)
Offensive Line Avg: 400 TPE (1 Conference / 1 Overall)
Punter/Kicker: 128 TPE (4 Conference / 8 Overall)
Overall: 3601 TPE (5 Conference / 10 Overall)
Weighted: 4380,1 TPE (5 Conference / 10 Overall)
Last year: They were able to make postseason, but offence already already stalled and that was with Jolliet Christ still playing on high level and third best passing yards offence.
Strength: Offensive Line is probably the best given the spendings they made there, but they don't really have anyone else to make plays for. Let's see if the best OL can make worst RB looking like at least like a decent one.
Biggest need: Sabercats thankfully have QB successor, but their receiving corps have been decimated and situation is not getting better with Flash playing his last season.
How to defend? Play unusual scheme and double up on pressuring O-Line to overmatch them and prevent any gaps from creating, while leaving rest of the receivers in man-to-man coverage, most of them are not skilled enough to beat their defenders.
9. New Orleans Second Line
Personnel:
Quarterback: S14 Stan Francisco
Running back #1: S15 Forrest Gump
Running back #2: S18 Bender B. Rodriguez
Wide Receiver #1: S13 Bona’beri Jones
Wide Receiver #2: S07 Vladimir Fyodorovich
Wide Receiver #3: S17 Action Jackson
Tight Ends: S18 Kreboktaflons Kwemen
Offensive Line: S15 Brave Ulysses, 2 x T3, 2 x T4
Punter/Kicker: S13 Alex Frost
Ranks:
Quarterback: 741 TPE (3 Conference / 7 Overall)
Running back #1 774 TPE (1 Conference / 2 Overall)
Running back #2 257 TPE (4 Conference / 7 Overall)
Runnings Backs: 1031 TPE (1 Conference / 3 Overall)
Wide Receiver #1: 516 TPE (5 Conference / 10 Overall)
Wide Receiver #2: 417 TPE (4 Conference / 8 Overall)
Wide Receiver #3: 324 TPE (3 Conference / 5 Overall)
Wide Receivers: 1257 TPE (4 Conference / 8 Overall)
Tight Ends: 59 TPE (5 Conference / 9 Overall)
Offensive Line Avg: 369,6 TPE (4 Conference / 5 Overall)
Punter/Kicker: 141 TPE (3 Conference / 6 Overall)
Overall: 3598,6 TPE (5 Conference / 10 Overall)
Weighted: 4431,9 TPE (4 Conference / 9 Overall)
Last year: It was a pleasant surprise for all the fans with really efficient offense, despite lacking some top tier talent - they were among top rushing teams.
Strength: While it's slowly transitioning to more pass centric offence with Stan Francisco growth, team still should ride or die by Forrest Gump running. O-line might be low-key game changer too with one of two active OLs in the NSFL.
Biggest need: That receiving is just not going to cut it for now if they are to fight for biggest trophies. Fyodorovich is on verge of dying and replacements are still young.
How to defend? Shutdown the run game and trust your secondary to defend sub-par receivers and tight end.
8. Orange County Otters
Personnel:
Quarterback: S15 Franklin Armstrong
Running back #1: S15 Apollo Reed
Running back #2: S18 Charles Allan
Wide Receiver #1: S16 Hugh Mongo
Wide Receiver #2: S17 Dexter Banks II
Wide Receiver #3: S11 Yulic Nagasawa
Tight Ends: S13 Johnny Blaze
Offensive Line: 5 x T3
Punter/Kicker: S15 Alex Dasistwirklichseinnachname
Ranks:
Quarterback: 748 TPE (2 Conference / 6 Overall)
Running back #1 542 TPE (2 Conference / 4 Overall)
Running back #2 169 TPE (5 Conference / 10 Overall)
Runnings Backs: 711 TPE (4 Conference / 7 Overall)
Wide Receiver #1: 627 TPE (3 Conference / 8 Overall)
Wide Receiver #2: 418 TPE (3 Conference / 7 Overall)
Wide Receiver #3: 400 TPE (2 Conference / 4 Overall)
Wide Receivers: 1445 TPE (2 Conference / 6 Overall)
Tight Ends: 763 TPE (2 Conference / 2 Overall)
Offensive Line Avg: 300 TPE (5 Conference / 7 Overall)
Punter/Kicker: 354 TPE (1 Conference / 2 Overall)
Overall: 4321 TPE (2 Conference / 5 Overall)
Weighted: 4881,2 TPE (3 Conference / 8 Overall)
Last year: Third straight NSFC team on the list. They were really efficient in terms of point scored despite second worst yard gains, their rush was ok, but pass offence struggled at times.
Strength: Young at key positions of QB & RB & WRs should become good starting point for likely rebuild that awaits this offence. Their star this season should be TE Johny Blaze.
Biggest need: OL is among worst, despite not having other players that should carry the offence so maybe spending there could be good investment. WR depth could use reinforcements too.
How to defend? It's hard to guess what will be focus of this offence, but given nothing obviously popping out it might be balanced approach focused around Johny Blaze and steady gains. Key will be to break OL in order to pass rush efficiently and against this particular linesmans should be not overly hard task.
7. Austin Copperheads
Personnel:
Quarterback: S16 Easton Cole
Running back #1: S16 Mako Mendonca
Running back #2: S17 Ashley Owens
Wide Receiver #1: S12 Django Anoa’i
Wide Receiver #2: S15 Rod Tidwell
Wide Receiver #3:
Tight Ends: S16 Peter Larson
Offensive Line: S15 Edmond Beaver-Dantes, 3 x T4, 1 x T3
Punter/Kicker: S14 Alfredo "Thighmaster" Crisco
Ranks:
Quarterback: 607 TPE (5 Conference / 10 Overall)
Running back #1 529 TPE (3 Conference / 5 Overall)
Running back #2 357 TPE (1 Conference / 4 Overall)
Runnings Backs: 886 TPE (2 Conference / 5 Overall)
Wide Receiver #1: 770 TPE (1 Conference / 5 Overall)
Wide Receiver #2: 645 TPE (2 Conference / 4 Overall)
Wide Receiver #3: 0 TPE (5 Conference / 10 Overall)
Wide Receivers: 1415 TPE (3 Conference / 7 Overall)
Tight Ends: 418 TPE (4 Conference / 4 Overall)
Offensive Line Avg: 389,4 TPE (2 Conference / 3 Overall)
Punter/Kicker: 319 TPE (2 Conference / 3 Overall)
Overall: 4034,4 TPE (3 Conference / 8 Overall)
Weighted: 4885,9 TPE (2 Conference / 7 Overall)
Last year: They almost made it past Sabercats last year, but it wasn't offence they should have thanked for that. They have youngest QB that still needs a couple of years to be focal point of offence, so will likely focus on running like in S17.
Strength: OL while ranked 3rd could very well end-up as the best with another active O-Lineman in the NSFL, which should make their already competitive run game even more dangerous.
Biggest need: Time, they are rather young all-around with developing players, maybe need more talent in the receiving department, since atm it seems they have only 2 on the rooster.
How to defend? Similarly to NOLA focus on rush prevention, tough dynamic duo at WR might be risky to leave to man-to-man coverage.
6. Chicago Butchers
Personnel:
Quarterback: S14 Rose Jenkins
Running back #1: S09 Marquise Brown
Running back #2: S12 Aksel Danielsson
Wide Receiver #1: S10 Kazimir Oles
Wide Receiver #2: S10 Felix Hasselhoff
Wide Receiver #3: S18 Will Smith
Tight Ends: S09 Declan Harp
Offensive Line: 5 x T4
Punter/Kicker: S11 Kulture Fulture
Ranks:
Quarterback: 869 TPE (4 Conference / 5 Overall)
Running back #1 508 TPE (3 Conference / 6 Overall)
Running back #2 417 TPE (3 Conference / 3 Overall)
Runnings Backs: 925 TPE (3 Conference / 4 Overall)
Wide Receiver #1: 941 TPE (4 Conference / 4 Overall)
Wide Receiver #2: 204 TPE (5 Conference / 10 Overall)
Wide Receiver #3: 79 TPE (5 Conference / 9 Overall)
Wide Receivers: 1224 TPE (5 Conference / 9 Overall)
Tight Ends: 311 TPE (2 Conference / 6 Overall)
Offensive Line Avg: 400 TPE (1 Conference / 1 Overall)
Punter/Kicker: 545 TPE (1 Conference / 1 Overall)
Overall: 4274 TPE (4 Conference / 6 Overall)
Weighted: 5150,1 TPE (5 Conference / 6 Overall)
Last year: Top rushing team might change it's personel this year, but mentality should stay rather similar.
Strength: OL thanks to huge budget space is off the charts and even with downgrade at RB they should be able to over match their opponents.
Biggest need: Even though Rose is steadily improving and around average now with just a single decent receiver she needs many better targets to become really impactful.
How to defend? If you read two previous paragraphs it's rather clear you need to focus on defending the rush.
5. Colorado Yeti
Personnel:
Quarterback: S16 Wolfie McDummy
Running back #1: S15 Terry Taffy
Running back #2: S18 Michael Vincent
Wide Receiver #1: S12 James Bishop
Wide Receiver #2: S16 Laszlo Forty-Two
Wide Receiver #3: S08 Brad Pennington
Tight Ends: S16 Armor King
Offensive Line: 5x T3, 1 x T2
Punter/Kicker: S14 Stephen Harris Jr
Ranks:
Quarterback: 644 TPE (5 Conference / 9 Overall)
Running back #1 462 TPE (4 Conference / 7 Overall)
Running back #2 204 TPE (4 Conference / 8 Overall)
Runnings Backs: 666 TPE (4 Conference / 8 Overall)
Wide Receiver #1: 1336 TPE (1 Conference / 1 Overall)
Wide Receiver #2: 597 TPE (3 Conference / 5 Overall)
Wide Receiver #3: 183 TPE (4 Conference / 8 Overall)
Wide Receivers: 2116 TPE (3 Conference / 3 Overall)
Tight Ends: 271 TPE (3 Conference / 7 Overall)
Offensive Line Avg: 340 TPE (2 Conference / 6 Overall)
Punter/Kicker: 131 TPE (4 Conference / 7 Overall)
Overall: 4168 TPE (5 Conference / 7 Overall)
Weighted: 5176,2 TPE (4 Conference / 5 Overall)
Last year: Yeti was probably the worst team ever to win 5 games and while their defense was bad, offence was just abysmal.
Strength: Best receiver in the game can be a game-changer, or at least yards machine before getting to red-zone where he is too tightly guarded.
Biggest need: Similarly to Austin they have really promising young core, what they need is couple more seasons to develop and maybe upgrade OL by then.
How to defend? Shut down Bishop, either by double-teaming or pressuring QB into quick plays before Bishop is able to lose the defenders.
4. Philadelphia Liberty
Personnel:
Quarterback: S10 Adriana Falconi
Running back #1: S16 Sam Torenson
Running back #2: S15 Farley Hank
Wide Receiver #1: S15 Nacho Varga
Wide Receiver #2: S12 Sam Hardwick
Wide Receiver #3: S10 Jordan von Matt
Tight Ends: S10 Seer Zephyrous
Offensive Line: Assuming last years - 2 x T4, 3 x T2
Punter/Kicker: S12 Roderick Castleberry
Ranks:
Quarterback: 985 TPE (3 Conference / 4 Overall)
Running back #1 646 TPE (2 Conference / 3 Overall)
Running back #2 468 TPE (2 Conference / 2 Overall)
Runnings Backs: 1114 TPE (2 Conference / 2 Overall)
Wide Receiver #1: 753 TPE (5 Conference / 6 Overall)
Wide Receiver #2: 591 TPE (4 Conference / 6 Overall)
Wide Receiver #3: 581 TPE (1 Conference / 1 Overall)
Wide Receivers: 1925 TPE (4 Conference / 5 Overall)
Tight Ends: 230 TPE (4 Conference / 8 Overall)
Offensive Line Avg: 280 TPE (4 Conference / 9 Overall)
Punter/Kicker: 95 TPE (5 Conference / 10 Overall)
Overall: 4629 TPE (3 Conference / 4 Overall)
Weighted: 5259,4 TPE (3 Conference / 4 Overall)
Last year: Bottom 4 last year was still not terrible with Falconi in her prime, which still might be the case this year.
Strength: It's quite balanced team with threats all around, Falconi still is Top 4 QB and with likely swan song season likely to put up her best show.
Biggest need: QB replacement is developing, but soon enough receiving corps will get hit like a truck, similarly to the lacking of true Tight End.
How to defend? While they are good all around Offensive Line is subpar (unless they make upgrades this year, since I assumed last years without new post so far) so abusing their ability to block might be good way to spoil Torenson & Falconi parade as one of the most capable QB&RB punches in the league currently.
3. Arizona Outlaws
Personnel:
Quarterback: S11 Andrew Reese
Running back #1: S11 Slim Shady
Running back #2: S12 Jeffery Murphy
Wide Receiver #1: S09 Vinny Valentine
Wide Receiver #2: S11 Josh Parker
Wide Receiver #3: S15 Brock Landers & S17 Saba Donut
Tight Ends: S15 Jammerson Irving
Offensive Line: Assuming last years - 1 T4, 4 x T3
Punter/Kicker: S11 Spencer Lawes
Ranks:
Quarterback: 1133 TPE (1 Conference / 1 Overall)
Running back #1 436 TPE (4 Conference / 8 Overall)
Running back #2 341 TPE (2 Conference / 5 Overall)
Runnings Backs: 777 TPE (3 Conference / 6 Overall)
Wide Receiver #1: 733 TPE (2 Conference / 7 Overall)
Wide Receiver #2: 689 TPE (1 Conference / 3 Overall)
Wide Receiver #3: 572 TPE (1 Conference / 2 Overall)
Wide Receivers: 1994 TPE (1 Conference / 4 Overall)
Tight Ends: 710 TPE (3 Conference / 3 Overall)
Offensive Line Avg: 380 TPE (3 Conference / 4 Overall)
Punter/Kicker: 110 TPE (5 Conference / 9 Overall)
Overall: 5104 TPE (1 Conference / 3 Overall)
Weighted: 5896,9 TPE (1 Conference / 3 Overall)
Last year: The best team last year built the offensive dominance upon air raid vehicle known as Andrew Reese. While receivers are still top in the conference the most of the core is regressing and season older.
Strength: Reese is still QB in the league and you can bet Outlaws will focus on him as main playmaker, especially while Valentine and Parker are still troublesome players to cover.
Biggest need: Youth injection - only WR #3 by committee and tight end Lawes are younger than S15. They are likely to follow Sabercats footsteps in season or two and turn from top to bottom offence.
How to defend? Much depends on OL that still isn't confirmed, so if they are able to secure at least average one good luck in preventing Reese from torching and tearing your coverages apart. Shady still should be of huge help in the last 10, but otherwise you should focus all efforts on stopping the pass game.
2. Yellowknife Wraiths
Personnel:
Quarterback: S14 Cooter Bigsby
Running back #1: S11 Jerrod Canton
Running back #2: S15 Morgan Marshall
Wide Receiver #1: S13 Nate Swift
Wide Receiver #2: S12 Tommy Helanen
Wide Receiver #3: S11 Roger Batoff
Tight Ends:
Offensive Line: 3 x T3, 2 x T2
Punter/Kicker: S12 Neo Donaldson
Ranks:Quarterback: 998 TPE (2 Conference / 3 Overall)
Running back #1 981 TPE (1 Conference / 1 Overall)
Running back #2 683 TPE (1 Conference / 1 Overall)
Runnings Backs: 1664 TPE (1 Conference / 1 Overall)
Wide Receiver #1: 1037 TPE (3 Conference / 3 Overall)
Wide Receiver #2: 953 TPE (2 Conference / 2 Overall)
Wide Receiver #3: 309 TPE (3 Conference / 6 Overall)
Wide Receivers: 2299 TPE (2 Conference / 2 Overall)
Tight Ends: 0 TPE (5 Conference / 10 Overall)
Offensive Line Avg: 260 TPE (5 Conference / 10 Overall)
Punter/Kicker: 257 TPE (3 Conference / 5 Overall)
Overall: 5478 TPE (2 Conference / 2 Overall)
Weighted: 6244, TPE (2 Conference / 2 Overall)
Last year: They were the best team last year and offence should take even bigger step ahead with Bigsby entering his prime.
Strength: Running backs should be able to tear into opposing team defenses forming most formidable 1&2 punch, but as mentioned Bigsby is as good QB threat as any other in the league and has 2nd best receiving corps to target.
Biggest need: Blocking might be a huge liability, especially against best of defensive lines. With no true tight end on a team and cheapest O-Line in the league opponents might try to either save on rushers or turn it into even bigger liability.
How to defend? It's such a well built team on big positions that your defense has to be able to cover 2 Top receivers and shutdown 2 Top WRs, while being able to pressure Top 3 Quarterback. Still, at least it seems doable as you can try to abuse lackluster O-Line and no true blocking threats outside of that.
1. Baltimore Hawks
Personnel:
Quarterback: S14 Corvo Havran
Running back #1: S15 Ludicolo Bigby
Running back #2: S13 Corey Trevor
Wide Receiver #1: S12 Errol Maddox
Wide Receiver #2: S11 Sunnycursed
Wide Receiver #3: S15 Ahri Espeeyeeseetee
Tight Ends: S07 Verso L’Alto
Offensive Line: 5 x T3
Punter/Kicker: S16 ForThe Brand
Ranks:
Quarterback: 1001 TPE (1 Conference / 2 Overall)
Running back #1 414 TPE (5 Conference / 9 Overall)
Running back #2 190 TPE (5 Conference / 9 Overall)
Runnings Backs: 604 TPE (5 Conference / 9 Overall)
Wide Receiver #1: 1330 TPE (2 Conference / 2 Overall)
Wide Receiver #2: 1045 TPE (1 Conference / 1 Overall)
Wide Receiver #3: 557 TPE (2 Conference / 3 Overall)
Wide Receivers: 2932 TPE (1 Conference / 1 Overall)
Tight Ends: 379 TPE (1 Conference / 5 Overall)
Offensive Line Avg: 300 TPE (3 Conference / 7 Overall)
Punter/Kicker: 285 TPE (2 Conference / 4 Overall)
Overall: 5501 TPE (1 Conference / 1 Overall)
Weighted: 6326,8 TPE (1 Conference / 1 Overall)
Last year: Havran truly shined in premium role. Starting RB switched to S to help LB depth and it might cost them a bit this year.
Strength: Passing threats are not comparable to any other team in the league - Corvo is coming of fantastic year and has at his disposal 2 great, 1 good wide receivers and veteran tight end.
Biggest need: Once calling card of Hawks was running backs winning trophies year in and year out theirs philosophy changed and only Sabercats seems less intimidating over there. They are also aging and this might be final year of this contention period in true contender status.
How to defend? Double up on coverages and don't forget about L'Alto being versatile threat.
Data sheet. It was nice once again looking at other side of the ball and maybe I'll wrap this with summary overall article tomorrow and more graphical presentation with graphs.
Time to focus on the other side of the ball.

Wide Receiver #3: S10 Jordan von Matt
Tight Ends: S10 Seer Zephyrous
Offensive Line: Assuming last years - 2 x T4, 3 x T2
Punter/Kicker: S12 Roderick Castleberry

Quarterback: 985 TPE (3 Conference / 4 Overall)
Running back #1 646 TPE (2 Conference / 3 Overall)

Running back #2: S13 Corey Trevor
