As a big fan of Halloween, I love dressing up for it. There are so many awesome costume ideas out there, you kind of get overwhelmed. I usually try to get something sort of scary, to keep with the theme of spooky Halloween. This year, I decided to go as the grim reaper.
On Thursday night, the SaberCats are having a team party for players and significant others. I figured the grim reaper costume would be appropriate since this is my last year in the league. It kind of signifies my death in the league. I even got a scythe to kind of complete the look. Team quarterback Dan Wright is hosting the party and we're just hoping to be able to enjoy the night and forget about all things football, especially with our rough start. He told us he's going to have a ton of Halloween themed food, haunted house decorations, and scary music playing in the background. Since it's Halloween night, the kids who come to the house for trick-or-treating will be surprised to see the whole SaberCats team waiting for them. I think they're gonna love that.
I love Halloween and everything that comes with it. The spookiness, the costumes, the movies, the music, and the atmosphere that comes with all of that.

Brave Ulysses is going out for Halloween as the second best position in football besides Offensive Line, and that is a Fullback. Massive neck rolls, a number in the 40's, everything as fullback as possible to pay tribute to another under appreciated position in football. Maybe Brave Ulysses will get some pancakes on some kids on the street because lead blocking is no joke and should be practiced at any time, especially if the kid looks like hes about to tackle your runningback. Oh, also, I have convinced Ben Tuaniaifukaukue to go out for Halloween as my runningback so that I always have an excuse to pancake a kid for his candy, because any kid in the way of Brave Ulysses will feel the power of a true fullback, bringing a little bit of James Develin to the holidays for everyone, maybe some Lorenzo Neal action who knows. Whats scarier to a middle linebacker than a guy with a massive neck roll coming at you like a train? An offensive lineman coming at you like a train. Thats why underneath my fullback costume, is really a jersey with 75 because really im going out for Halloween as myself because I love a good plot twist in PTs
It is the spookiest time of the year, in the spookiest NSFL city, the one and only, Yellowknife. Halloween is in some way a national holiday here in Yellowknife and as a new rookie here, I have learned that the players really do go full out for this holiday. This year I have decided to embrace the current state of the world we live in and dress up as a sellout! This might seem weird, but I think it needs a bit of explanation. To fully show off this sellout costumed, I will be dressed up as Winnie the Pooh and have a LeBron James mask on me. With this people will really be able to see my true side and to help me out on this my team will dress up as some other well known sellouts which you may recognize. These include Kanye West, George Lucas and Kris Jenner!
When we go out on Thursday night there will be lots of planning to do beforehand. We will first have to decide what our groups price will be for this Halloween and who will be the lucky winner. After this has been done, we are free to go out and really enjoy the night. We will be sure to tell all other trick or treaters that even though it may seem obvious that we are doing this candy gathering activity because it is able to make us money while giving away every moral fibre in our body, in reality we are doing it because our inner child wants more candy. Like it really is quite obvious.
A large amount of people, within the Norfolk community whether it's the players, or the fans always seem to dress up as something ranging from characters you see in comics, to their favorite athletes, even politicians. Everyone always participated in the Halloween activities, everyone but Jacob Andrews Jr. Growing up, obviously Jacob took place in the activities and going trick-or-treating, he would normally go out at as a superhero, whether it was Spider-man, Iron Man, Batman, Superman, etc. When he hit the point where he realized, football was what he wanted to pursue as a career that is when he stopped going out at nights to trick or treat, as well as Halloween parties. Instead he picked up the weights, constantly trying to improve for the better as a player and a person. He may have stopped participating in a variety of different Halloween, activities now. But, he did promise to himself that one day if he has a kid that he would take him/her out for trick-or-treating. Until then, he is a gym rat you will rarely see him out of it. Now, the fact it is more than likely going to be empty on a holiday, you can definitely expect to see him there.

Last year the gal pal and I went as Bob Ross and tree, but found out a day before that the theme was Marvel. Needless to say we had to make a drastic shift on short notice. After doing a quick google search of superheroes that have afros, we ended up going as Afro Samurai and Groot. This year, we knew the theme well ahead of time (Disney) and are going as Lumiere and Babette. We wanted to veer away from the typical options you would expect to see when there is a Disney themed party. Plus, I want to do a really cheesy French accent and chase her around all night. I will be doing nothing Thursday night expect watching the highly anticipated DSFL games that night.
My favorite Halloween costume ever was when I went as John Gruden (coach Gruden not announcer Gruden) a couple of years ago. I got a cheap Tampa Bay visor and wind breaker, along with an old xbox 360 headset, a whiteboard and a handmade red challenge flag. You wouldn’t believe how popular the whiteboard was. I spent most of the night drawing up plays at the bars. 90% of the plays involved someone blocking while someone else went and got us more beer. It was a blast and I never would have guessed how well it went over. To top it all off, one of my best friends happened to be a blind ref so we put on a little show going back and forth arguing.
Tyrone Biggums and the rookies of the Orange County Otters have to dress up as Disney female leads for rookie hazing. Korrin Abernathy went as Cinderella as he’s a perfect fit for this defence and management as he quickly became the co-Gm. Tyrone Biggums went as Bella from beauty and the beast as he knows how to tame the wild beasts on offense. Marlo Smart dressed up as Ariel from the Little Mermaid because he is a hidden treasure in the draft. You only see the top half of him as he’s in the DSFL and you just wait till he gets his legs and runs over offenders in the NSFL. Howard Ryan easily went as Anna from frozen as his daring defensive risks portrait similar traits to the firey red head. Charles Allen was lucky enough to be Sleeping beauty. Who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by 7 dudes… I mean Allen was in a TPE slumber heading into the NSFL but he’s been awaken and is earning at an alarming rate. EEE Silvveremm went as Repunzel. The biggest man gets the biggest hair. Hank McCoy is Jasmine from Aladin as you think he’s real but you’ve never actual met the talking genie or flying carpet. Kehoe, Boomer, Baldwin and Chico De La Agua are the step sisters of Cinderalla because who knows their names in the movie just like on the otters.
