After breaking the career rushing yardage and rushing touchdowns records (among countless other achievements), Marquise Brown is officially retiring. It’s been a long and joyful career, with the highest peaks and some low valleys. I’ll be posting a reflection post about Brown’s career in the upcoming days, so be sure to look out for that.
When I saw this league on some random Reddit post, I never would have imagined that clicking through would have led to all that has happened over the past year. This league has changed my life for the better, seriously. I know that sounds corny, but I’ve met so many amazing people here and the NSFL has been such a great outlet for me to just kick back and have fun while dealing with life. This year has been literally insane, and this upcoming year will be even more hectic with college and all that. To be honest, I’m really not sure if I’ll re-create, at least, not right now. But I’ll always be involved with the league regardless of what happens. The friendships I’ve made in this league will last a life time, and I’m so glad to say that I’m a part of this amazing community.
Now for some acknowledgements… there are so many people to thank, it’s unreal.
@Ramero – The first guy in this league that took a chance on me and believed in me. You were a fantastic GM and played a huge role in keeping me interested in this league. Not only that, but you’re a great friend. I hope you make some time to come back, and if not, I hope you’re doing well in life. Marshal up!
@kckolbe – You were such a great locker room presence in San Antonio and that S8 team was so much fun to be a part of. You helped me out tons with getting my bearings in this league and developing Brown. You showed me immense kindness and I'll never forget that. While you’re gone now and I assume you won’t be coming back any time soon, I hope things are going well for ya. (Also, you made the trade that netted me and Engi to Philly, so… thanks for that too.)
@BWIII – Holy cow man. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for me. I’ve spent pretty much my entire career with you in my LRs and you’ve been nothing but excellent. You’re a true leader and I’m lucky to say that I played for your Liberty teams. Thanks a million, B dubs.
@adam2552 – You drafted me with the third pick in the S9 draft and put me in a fantastic situation. While you weren’t GM for much longer after that, I can’t thank you enough for drafting me to Philly. Not only that but you were a great locker room presence long after you stepped down as GM and even after Bush retired, and an overall pleasure to be around. Thanks for taking a chance on me man, I hope it paid off.
@enigmatic – My effin’ QB! In my opinion, THE best graphics person in this league (sorry Infinite…). Not only that, but you’re a fantastic LR presence. I’m so glad that I was able to be on your squad for most of my career. Thanks for everything.
@manicmav36 – Thank you for giving me something to work towards with my career in Taylor and setting my goals sky high. I loved our rivalry we had, and you’ve always kept me motivated, even to this day. You’re the definition of both class and success in this league.
@iamslm22 – Speaking of class AND success, how could I ever forget about this guy right here? An absolute legend in this league and your countless achievements speak for themselves. You’ve always shown me profound respect, even during my San Antonio days, and I thank you for that. While things turned sour for us sim wise towards the end of my career, I’ll never forget when you helped me out during my stint as SA’s GM, that really stuck with me. It goes to show how great you are as a person and how much you care about this league. Now go lead Philly to some championships, hope I see myself back in Liberty colors with my recreate!
@Raven – 1/2 of an epic podcasting duo PLUS 1/3 of the weeb squad. You’re a genuinely good guy and I’m happy to call you my friend. Thanks for doing your nerdy banker stuff that kinda helps the league and all but most importantly thanks for being my pal.
@Jiggly_333 – Another awesome person in this league, and a great friend of mine. You’ve given me inspiration from a creative standpoint and you’re honestly a fantastic human being. Loved our times in the Chicago LR, with you rambling on about writing and music and anime, well as you always do. Keep being you, Jig. Love ya man!
@bex – Probably the nicest person on Discord and a great friend. You always seem to brighten up Chicago’s LR even though you’re not even on the team, though Jiggly probably considers you a Butcher by now. We need more people like you in the league. Thanks for being awesome.
@Sweetwater – You’re a fantastic guy and have kept the league running smoothly for how many seasons now? I appreciate all of the hard work you put into the NSFL, and I appreciate the competition you gave me with Canton, he’s a legend. While we don’t really talk too much, I hope things are going well for you and life is good.
@ADwyer87– Thanks Dwy for being the worst commis- uhhh I mean for being a really good dude both to me and to everyone else in this league. The work you put into this league is pretty important and I appreciate you for that, also thanks for talking with me in DMs during some late nights. Love ya dude.
@Toasty – A great GM and an even better friend. Thanks for all the memories competing with one of the GOATs such as Mason Brown. I have faith that you’ll lead Chicago to some amazing moments. Thanks for getting me all of those yards towards the end of my career too.
@nunccoepi – A true class act and an excellent leader. I enjoyed being able to play for you and Doug back during my Baltimore years and I’ll never forget winning my first ring with you. You’re one of the architects of something special in that S15 team. You made me proud to be a Hawk and I thank you.
@iseedoug – Some serious appreciation to you for helping me get that ring in S15. That team will go down in history as one of the greatest, and it’s all because of you and Nunc leading that team to victory. That was the funnest season I ever had with Brown, thank you so much for that. Both of you are awesome guys.
So many more people I want to thank for various reasons, but I’ve been typing for long enough… I’ll make these short and sweet.
