Darrel Williams, a new RB who joined the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers following the trade deadline along with a few other prospects made his DSFL debut tonight. Darrel didn't have the most spectacular debut, but he put up solid numbers against the top team in the DSFL and it was good enough for a newly added 55 TPE player.
At the start of the game, the Buccaneers got the ball and quickly moved their way down the field, without much of Darrel's help. His only carry of the drive was a two yard gain that produced a 2nd and 8. The most important and productive player of the drive, not surprisingly, was quarterback Deondre Thomas-Fox. In every play on this drive except for the previously mentioned Darrel Williams run, Thomas-Fox ran or passed the ball. He had almost a perfect split between passing and rushing yards, as he ran for 47 and passed for 46 on his way to a touchdown. This 6-0 lead would not last for long, as the Luchadores quickly stormed back to add a touchdown of their own, and this one would give the lead to the Luchadores for the rest of the game. Immediately following the touchdown, the Luchadores recorded a rare safety on Thomas-Fox and scored a 21 yard field goal afterwards. Darrel added some decent runs of 4, 8(his career high!), and 4 yards to add a little offense to the Buccaneers, who struggled to get anything going past their touchdown. The game quickly progressed to a blowout, as you'd expect in a game between an 11-1 team and a 2-10 team, and Darrel was able to add four more carries to bring his day to 35 yards on 8 carries. Overall, Darrel didn't cost his team and provided some boosts to the offense when the #1 RB needed a breather. It'll be interesting to watch him play next week and see where he goes from there.
