How would you grade your season in the DSFL?
B+ seems like a fair grade for my first season. Coming in, I didn’t have much of an idea on how well or poor this would go for me. I wasn’t a household name and I’m still not by any means, but I feel like I have made a little traction in that regard. On the field, I definitely found myself making some plays. I was happy with how often I was in the middle of the play. Leading the team in tackles was a pleasant surprise for me and I hope to build on that moving forward.
Are you ready to make the jump to the big leagues right away or do you feel like you need another season?
Yeah I feel ready to make the leap up. Just like coming up from college ball, it might take me a week or two to get my bearings, but I plan to hit the ground running. I’m not opposed to staying down in the DSFL though either. If the right fit came along and things were better with me growing down here for another year, I would gladly do that for my future team.
Is there anything in your game you feel like you can improve on?
I would like to get better in coverage. I don’t know if it was the inexperience or maybe the secondary not meshing like I’m used to, but we gave up a lot of yards through the air this season. I want to make sure I’m as well rounded as I can be. I also want to get better in blitz packages. I was able to get to the quarterback four times this year, but I know I can get better. That will come with time and experience as I learn blocking schemes and other more advanced things that usually elude young guys.
What are your plans for the off-season?
I made a lot of life changes a couple years ago and it’s been serving me well. I’m going to stick with my diet and workout plan. I’ve had a couple teammates talk about doing some workouts together and I’m all for it, but I prefer to stay out of the media for the most part. I know a lot of people use the off-season to do all the “fun stuff” we shouldn’t do during the regular season, but that’s not me. We have such a small window for our football career and I want to look back knowing that I was as prepared as I could be. Always trying to improve myself and get a step further ahead than I was yesterday.
Big thank you to my GM mcgriddleluver for asking me these questions!
