Bobby Boucher has declared for the upcoming DSFL draft, as a necessary step on his route to playing professional football at the highest level in the NSFL. After his stint as a linebacker during his time at South Central Louisiana State, his coach at the university noted that his talents may be more useful at defensive end, where he is talent as a pure pass rusher and run stopper will be more accurately reflected, and refined. Known as a pure pursuit player in his brief appearances, he turned around a porous defence by shedding blockers, removing space for runners, and giving quarterbacks little to no time in the pocket. It will be interesting to see if his prowess tossing blockers aside will be as effective at the pro level with much bigger and stronger players, as opposed to the small schools he dominated in college. His biggest games came when his small school faced rivals at the University of Louisiana, especially when he dominated the second half of the Bourbon Bowl, resulting in a comeback 30-27 win for the Mud Dogs, and a player of the game award for Boucher. Intelligence and qualifications seem to be an issue for Boucher, as the reason for missing the first half of the Bourbon Bowl was a faked high school transcript, resulting in need for Boucher to pass a GED test, while attending to his sick mother, who was later seen healthy and well at the game. Certain aspects of Boucher’s history seem off, but with a few seasons of college ball under his belt now, it has become clear Boucher has the talent and relentless drive to at least compete at the next level. The switch to defensive end seems to back the lack of coverage ability and reading defenses, meaning elaborate defensive schemes may not be the best fit for Boucher. Here’s hoping the young man finds success at the next level, and translates to the professional level well.
