Week 11 of the NFL season is in the books, and for the most parts it was uneventful and the majority of the teams that were favorites won their game. Other than the incident at the end of the Steelers Browns game on Thursday night, nothing else major happened. It was a painful week watching the Panthers lose again in a game we should have won due to backup quarterback Kyle Allen throwing 4 interceptions, most of which were in the redzone. My complete apathy towards this NFL season at the moment will mean I am not really going to put much info into the actual NFL recaps. It’s just more work that I’m not interested in doing for the amount I care at the moment. I will continue to write about the comparison to the NSFL and I’m much more interested in that aspect at the moment.
Steelers over Browns
The Browns beat the Steelers, but the end of the game where Myles Garrett hit Mason Rudolph in the head with his own helmet is the only thing anyone will remember about this game.
The Butchers and Yeti split their season 18 games, but the game in Chicago was won by the Yeti. It was an extremely close game that was tied at the end of the half and at the end of the 3rd and 4th quarters, so it went to overtime. Early into overtime McDummy ran a 4 yard touchdown to win the game. This makes both the comps and my picks 0-1 to start the week.
Panthers over Falcons
Panthers suck. Burn it all down. Fire Hurney and Rivera. Trade Cam for picks and build the offense around Christian McCaffrey. I’m done and yet I will sit down every Sunday and watch as we continue to lose.
The Second Line and Liberty played once in season 18 with the Second Line winning 36 to 21 in one of our more dominating performances of the season. Francisco had 3 passing touchdowns and Gump added another on the ground. This was the last game I got wrong fortunately, so now the comps are 1-1 and I’m 0-2.
Cowboys over Lions
The Cowboys beat the Lions by a score in Detroit. Jeff Driskel actually kept the game close, which is pretty surprising. No idea when Matthew Stafford is coming back.
The Outlaws and Second Line played twice in season 18 with each team winning the game at home. In this case that would be the Second Line at home who beat the Outlaws in week 3 by a score of 20 to 17. The score was 20 to 0 halfway through the 3rd quarter before the Outlaws tried to come back, but came just a field goal short. I’m now 1-2 and so are the comps.
Colts over Jaguars
The Colts dominated the Jaguars in this game mostly by completely shutting down the Jaguars run game while also having success on the ground with two 100 yard rushers.
The Hawks and Copperheads faced off once in season 18 with the Copperheads actually winning in dominant fashion 45 to 26. Not the result I expected to see when I went to look for this game. It was a 5 point game in the middle of the 4th quarter, but the Copperheads then scored two straight touchdowns to blow the lead wide open. My picks improve to 2-2 while the comp falls to 1-3.
Bills over Dolphins
The Dolphins win streak is halted and the Bills continue to be the lead AFC wildcard team.
The Second Line and SaberCats played twice in season 18 with the SaberCats winning both games. The game in San Jose was a complete blowout for the Second Line as we shut the SaberCats out in a dominant 37 to 0 victory. Gump had 176 yards and 3 touchdowns in this game. A monsterous performance. I’m now 3-2 and the comps are 2-3.
Vikings over Broncos
The Broncos actually took a 20 to 0 lead in this game, but the Vikings scored 4 touchdowns in the second half and won 27 to 23.
The Otters and Liberty face off once in season 18 with a dominant 31 to 7 victory. The Otters opened up the scoring early with 2 of Armstrong’s four passing touchdowns coming in the first quarter. After that the game was practically out of hand for the Liberty as they struggled on offense against the stout Otters defense. I improve to 4-2 and the comps are back to 500 on the week at 3-3.
Saints over Bucs
The Saints continue their great season as they have no problem with the Bucs in Tampa.
The Wraiths and Liberty faced off twice in season 18 with the Wraiths winning both matchups. The game in Philadelphia was actually a very close game with a final score of 16 to 7, but 7 of those 16 points from the Wraiths didn’t come until less than a minute to go in the game. For the majority of the game it was a 2 point game with neither team being able to score. There were 16 punts in this game, which seems like a lot. I’m now 5-2 and the comp is 4-3.
Jets over Redskins
The Jets dominated the Redskins who finally found the endzone late in the fourth quarter, but by then it was way too late.
Unfortunately, I compared both of these teams to the SaberCats, so obviously no NSFL game to recap. That puts my picks at 6-2 and the comps at 4-3-1.
Ravens over Texans
Lamar Jackson is legit and at this point he is definitely in the lead for NFL MVP. The Ravens are dominating even good opponents and I wouldn’t be surprised if they give New England a run for their money in the playoffs.
The Hawks and Outlaws faced off once in season 18 with the Outlaws coming away with the close victory 27 to 23. The Hawks actually had the lead for the majority of the game until Saba Donut caught a 3 yard touchdown pass to take the lead and win the game. My picks are now 7-2 and the comps fall to 4-4-1.
49ers over Cardinals
This was actually a much closer game than I thought it would be with the 49ers having to score a go ahead touchdown with 30 seconds remaining to win the game. They sealed their victory with a fumble return for touchdown as time expired, but don’t let the final score fool you. This one was close.
The Wraiths and Copperheads played once in season 18 with the Copperheads taking a big 27 to 7 halftime lead, but the Copperheads couldn’t keep it up and the Wraiths scored 5 straight touchdowns in the second half to win 41 to 27. I’m 8-2 and the comps are 5-4-1.
Raiders over Bengals
The Bengals are the first team to be eliminated from the playoffs as they remain winless and the Raiders are now in the wild card hunt in the AFC.
The Copperheads and SaberCats faced off twice in season 18 splitting their games. In their game in Oakland the Copperheads won 28 to 14. They took an early lead with two Ashley Owens first quarter rushing touchdowns and that was the 14 point difference in the game. My picks improve to 9-2 and the comps are 6-4-1.
Patriots over Eagles
The Patriots won this Super Bowl rematch 17 to 10 after being down 10 to 0 early in the second quarter.
The Wraiths and Outlaws faced off in week 13 of season 18 and the Outlaws actually won by a score of 42 to 27. The Wraiths were up 20 to 14 at the end of the half, but the Outlaws scored four second half touchdowns to the Wraiths won to win the game. I’m now 10-2 and the comp falls to 6-5-1.
Rams over Bears
Mitchell Trubisky continues to be a bust and the Rams beat the Bears.
The Hawks and Yeti faced off twice in season 18 and they split their games. The game in Baltimore wasn’t close as the Hawks won easily 55 to 20. Havran had over 400 yards and 4 passing touchdowns and the Hawks had almost 200 more yards of offense than the Yeti. I’m now 11-2 and the comps are 7-5-1.
Chiefs over Chargers
Rivers threw 4 interceptions in this game, and the Chargers would have probably won if not for those interceptions.
The Otters and Yeti faced off once in season 18 with the Otters winning after being down 3 at the half. The Yeti scored a last second touchdown to make the score a bit more respectable, but the Otter dominated the second half to win this game. That puts my picks for the week at 12-2 and the comps finished at 8-5-1.
One thing to note this week is that I did much better than the comps. That’s good to know, because after last week I was about ready to completely base my picks on what the comps said. I’ll close this one out with my picks for week 12.
