There aren’t many proper ways to explain what gets put into making a manager for a football team. For most, money is a major thing in building together the ultimate team. Others might describe hard work and determination as the key things when it comes to running a football team. There are many schools of thought that all combine together somewhere into the perfect type of football manager that can bring together a team on their back, take them through a season, and come out on the other side as champions. Those things can be put together in any matter of ways and perhaps maybe one of the combinations is the new general manager of the Kansas City Coyotes, Coach Howl. The hire that seemed to come out of nowhere for some but for others in the upper levels of the DSFL, the hire was the only thing that made sense.
Coach Howl started off in the job hunt when the Minnesota Grey Ducks opened up their co-general manager search and gained some interest from the hire amongst the management that he was recommended to the Kansas City management. But to get a better picture on where things began for Howl, we have to go back a few years to the third season of the Alliance of American Football. In that season the nation was put up for just how special this man truly was.
There was a heated matchup between the 3-2 Atlanta Legends and the 4-1 Orlando Apollos in Georgia State Stadium where the game had been neck-and-neck for the entire length of the game. Coach Howl, then known as Kaynine Howl, was lined up in the slot for the final play of the game. The score was 21-20, Legends down with the ball. The coach of the Legends had been following trends of all the Atlanta coaches by mysteriously leaving in the middle of the season with no explanation and left the Legends locker room without a coach to finish the game. The man to stand up in this moment was our own Kaynine Howl.
The play call was simple for the Legends in order to gain the victory over the Apollos that they desperately needed. Send the ball on a hook and lateral to try and put the team into field goal range. Then when the ball was snapped to permanent Legends washed up QB, Matt Simms to a quick deep throw to Howl. The pass was deflected into the hands of Howl after a crazy fight of tips. Improvisation had to come into play by the wide receiver and fix-up play caller as he sprinted for the endzone. A quick flip to his fellow receiver got the ball into the right hands for the game-winning touchdown.
After that season, Howl moved into the coaching field at the college level where he began his career at Bowling Green State. He took the Falcons’ offensive coordinator position for a total of five years before finding his way to making money. Coach Howl developed a brand-new type of football pads for a new football league known as the NSFL. The new pads were used by Colorado Yeti tight end, Armor King who had a healthy amount of money to buy as many shoulder pads needed. This small investment would give Coach Howl his way into becoming a high wealthy person.
Those five years of coaching and developing special shoulder pads went by quick for the coach and after hearing his close friend was retiring from the NSFL, Howl wanted to take part in the league for himself. That is where our story begins into the year 2035 as Coach Howl jumps into the spotlight as a DSFL general manager of the Kansas City Coyotes. This is a season to watch and see just how far the Coyotes can go under the watchful eye of Coach Howl after some would consider a very successful draft. In his words, “There’s only one way to find out if you did something right. Put it to the test with confidence.”
