Holden Summers Interview
I sat down and met with fellow DSFL rookie Holden Summers. Holden is a LB out of Minnesota University. He was drafted with the first pick in the second round of the S20 DSFL draft by the Minnesota Greyducks.
Holden during his spare time, Holden is a General Manager for the Sunnydale Slayer which is apart of the Major League Numberball league. He is a three year manager where he won the first ever championship in season 1. His Slayer team is currently the #2 seed going into the playoffs after finishing 12-2 on the year. They will take on the Portland Pioneers in the first round of the playoffs which is run by DSFL rookie Rub a Chickn.
Who is your biggest supporter? How have they helped you get to this point today?
Holden: My biggest supporter is definitely my mom. She kept me focused on the positives growing up and that fed into the attitude I maintained while growing up. On my toughest days she was able to help me see the good things in life.It really kept things in perspective when I started playing football. “You get knocked down? Well get back up!”
How do you feel the draft went? Are you excited to play the six teams that passed you up? How do you think MN did in the draft?
Holden: I thought the draft went well! I was obviously excited to get picked 7th and go to Minnesota, but I was also really excited to see where my friends went. A lot of us knew each other from football camps and I wish them the best this season. Am I excited to play the teams that didn’t draft me? Yeah definitely. I’m ready to play against everyone! I think the Grey Ducks did very well in the draft. I was a little bummed at first when none of my friends were drafted by them, but then I realized their strategy and it made a lot more sense. I can see my friends at anytime, but when im on the field all that matters is how I perform and how I help our team win.
During your career what is the one thing you want to achieve
Holden: I want to win a championship playing for a team that I'm proud of. I want teammates that work hard and have fun. I want something that we can all build together. A championship is the culmination of that
What's your pre game ritual
Holden: I wish I had something fun to say here but I don't. I just focus on the game and thank God that he gave me a chance to play the sport that I love.
One random fact about yourself
Holden: I love omelets and make one every single morning. Two eggs. Turkey Bacon. Cheese. Peppers. That is the best and the only way to start your morning!
After sitting with Holden and really getting to know him, it makes sense why Minnesota went out and draft him as early as they did. This kid is ready to perform on the big stage and show off his talents to the world. I have no doubt in my mind that Holden will be once again a top draft pick when the NSFL draft comes along. It will be a tough battle for Holden and his new team as they look to make it two straight championships. But with their recent draft I expect good things from their rookies and i feel like Holden will help them accomplish their goals along the way. I wish Holden nothing but the best in this upcoming year, but he should know one thing. Minnesota is not beating Kansas City.
