This comes as a surprise to many.
An anonymous source within the San Jose SaberCats organization has reported that Ethan Hunt will not be returning to the San Jose SaberCats organization, citing that the quarterback, despite taking the starting QB position by storm and posting some of the best numbers in the league even though they were in a limited quantity.
Hunt, the Idaho State University product, was picked in the 4th Round at 24th Overall, being the first quarterback taken in the Inaugural National Simulation Football League Draft. Even though the 21-year old put up fairly good numbers in the pre-season, he was beaten out by an inconsistent Mike Boss and a hardworking Josh Bercovici.
When Hunt was traded to the San Jose SaberCats for Bert Metas, and dropped an impressive debut in Week 9, completing ~66% of his passes, notching 2 touchdowns and lead the SaberCats to a superb 30-17 win over the Colorado Yeti. Since then, irregardless of the SaberCats' somewhat disappointing roster, Hunt has been a rock for them, easily beating out Jameis Christ for the starter quarterback spot.
Once again, it's a shock that Hunt would want out of a team where he is indisputably the top quarterback. Unless if there is some behind the scenes action that is not public between Hunt and the front office of the SaberCats, then this move by Hunt does not make any sense. The two expansion teams in Las Vegas and Philadelphia aren't expected to be the most competitive next season, and the majority of the QB spots around the league are already occupied by more established and proven QBs.
Where could Hunt wind up, if the SaberCats moved him? Leave your comments and thoughts below.
