They say you can't properly evaluate a draft class until they are in the league for at least 3 seasons. That means once the current season wraps up, we can analyze the historic Season 18 draft class with at least a reasonable amount of information. And that's really all I'm ever aiming to do with my media articles: reasonably analyze things! So this is my attempt to rank the whole class. This isn't a redraft, I don't care about TPE, or if users are active or not, I'm only looking at career statistical performance.
Now, NSFL is obviously different from the NFL, in that members of a draft class are not necessarily entered into the league right away, but can choose to (or out of necessity) stay in the DSFL. In fact over half of the S18 draft class has never made it to the NSFL. However, the way I'm looking at this ranking is based on NSFL performance. That means, even if a player has had a lot of success in the DSFL but has yet to play in the NSFL, he will by default rank below a player who has played in the NSFL, even if only for one game. Also, for the players who have reached the NSFL, I will ONLY be looking at their NSFL stats and ignoring DSFL performance. It would just double my work to consider both. While this is a disadvantage for players who spent an extra season in the DSFL, I think it will only make a meaningful difference for DSFL GOAT Jay Cue's ranking (although, based on what we have seen so far in the NSFL, his ranking may still be fine).
Today I will be unveiling the first part of the rankings, which will be going through the players who are still on DSFL rosters and are no longer playing on their teams. After that will be the DSFL players who are still receiving playing time, and then finally the NSFL players. I can release this part now, since as I mentioned, these players have not played in the DSFL this season, meaning their careers are likely over in terms of generating stats. Now the flaw in this plan is that by default I'm having all of the still active DSFL players rank higher than these pseudo-retired ones, even if the active players have minimal/bad stats and some of these guys have decent numbers. Could this be mended by just waiting until this season ends and grouping them all together? Sure but I'm impatient. None of the people this applies to are active anyway. I don't think this portion of the list will hurt anyone's feelings. On to the list!
Let me know if I screwed something up.
