When you talk about recognizing two of my Yellowknife Wraith teammates for awards this season two guys come to mind: RB Mathias Hanyadi and LB Danny Grithead. Mathias is an absolute stud out of the backfield for us and definitely deserves consideration for offensive player of the year. The guy currently third in the league in rushing but has about 50 carries less than the two cats above him on the leaderboard. He also has more TDs on the ground than either of the guys ahead of him and has put in work through the air as well racking up just under 400 yards and 4 TDs. On the defensive side of the ball Grithead is as dominant as ever from the LB position. He currently sits second in the league in sacks and is consistently a game breaker in the middle of the field. The guy has racked up 77 tackles and is also very active in the passing game while managing to snag an INT and knocking down 7 passes which is more than some of the DBs in this league. The guys are both also fantastic teammates and even if they are over looked for awards this year they will still be in strong consideration for my favourite teammates <3.

So, the teammate I would like to talk about is Franklin Armstrong. This guy brings his all to the field every single game, and I honestly don't think he can get enough recognition for what he brings to this team as a player and as a teammate. I believe that he deserves MVP, and I honestly don't even think anyone else should be close to him in the award votes. There's no other player, this season, that has been more valuable of a player than Franklin Armstrong is to the Otters, and that's exactly what the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award should be. He essentially controlled the outcome of all of our games this season, based on how well he played. And, I haven't even mentioned his stats yet. If Armstrong rushes for 7 yards in the final game of the regular season, he will be, to my knowledge, the first QB to ever rush for 1,000+ yards in a single season. That by itself is insane to think about. When you talk about dual threat QB's in the league, everyone always assumes their passing stats suffer immensely just because their passing yards aren't record-breaking. But, even taking this into account, Armstrong still ended the season with the best TD-INT ratio in the league. This doesn't even include rushing TD's. Yes, the Otters as a whole under performed this season, but we've still secured ourselves a playoff spot, and we couldn't have done it without Franklin Armstrong.
I can't name just one, I'm way to opinionated to do that sort of thing.
Let's start with the man deserving of the WROTY award, Rod Tidwell. This is the season he gets his long overdue recognition. He has been the model of consistency, even when his team wasn't. Some of you neanderthals may be thinking "bUt KyLe, EsPeEcEeTEe HaS bIgGeR nUmBeRs"! Well dummy the thing about that is that epecito or however you spell that damn name is the only player on that offense actually getting any touches because the rest of the poor souls in that locker room got weebed to death long ago. Rod Tidwell has the disadvantage of playing on an actual team with actual teammates that really exist and he is still running neck and neck with with that other fool who's name isn't worth spelling out. VOTE TIDWELL WROTY I want to move things over to my first home in professional football. Tijuana is not having their best season but it there are definitely bright spots. None brighter than Inspectah Deck who leads the DSFL with 14 sacks, over 50% more than second place. That's fucking crazy y'all. On top of all that he's top 5 in tackles, has double digit TFLs. So if the voters don't choose him as DPOTY we know they're super low IQ. I also have to do the controversial thing for a copperhead and point out that offensive rookie of the year belongs to another one other than my lucha brother Randy Vuxta. Randy dominated the DSFL and he will dominate the NSFL for years to come. There's a reason so many teams tried to trade up for him in the draft. Watch his games and you will notice he has that clutch gene. Vuxta doesn't back down from the intense moments. He's a game changer and teams will fear him for a decade. There is 1 man more than any other that deserves at least 1 award if not 3 this season and that is our very own Austin kicking and Punting legend Alfredo Crisco. Crisco haas been a monster so far this season and in my humble opinion deserves 3 awards, and I will run you through these. The first award is a he performance of the year. This should be given for his week 6 game against San Jose. In this game he smashed the previous longest field goal record not by 1 or 2 yards but by 4 yards after scoring a 65 yard field goal! But Crisco is not a 1 kick wonder, he deserves to sweep the kicking awards board. With kicking he has his record breaking 65 yard field goal but is also the leading kicking points scorer, and is 4th in accuracy in both wild goals and extra points, so when combined is actually 2nd overall for mined accuracy and has far more attempts than the person in 1st. He also deserves the punting award, after all he has the longest average punt distance and the longest punt of the season of 78 yards. He is a legend.

It’s time we showed some love for my boy Inspectah Deck. He started off a rather unknown commodity. Heck, I would say he is still quite unknown on a league wide level. What he has done this season, though, has really put himself on the map in the DSFL. When he first started, he was like most of us. Unsure and unproven at this level. In his rookie season, he wound up second on Tijuana in tackles, while also posting 5 sacks, 8 pass deflections and a forced fumble with 2 recoveries. He followed up his rookie season by going off this year. He is 5th in the league in tackles, has 5 more sacks than anyone else and still has 6 passes deflected. The man has been all over the field this season and it’s evident. His 14 sacks through 12 games is a Tijuana record. Without jinxing him, he has a great opportunity to tack on a couple more to his tally. He also set the team record for sacks in a game with 4 earlier this season. I don’t see any player being more worthy of LBoty or even Dpoty than Deck. I think you can give a head nod to MacGregor’s 147 tackles (26 more than second), or Quaid’s 121 tackles and nice combo of forced fumbles and fumbles recovered. If we put more emphasis on stats outside of just tackling, Deck comes out on top. Even if you combine MacGregor and and Quaid, Deck still has more than double their TFLs, triple their sacks and double their pass deflections. For those questioning why pass deflections are relevant, it shows that he does more than just rush the passer all game. He plays all over the field and makes the most out of wherever he is. Quaid’s 3 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries are impressive and might really bring him into consideration compared to Deck’s 1 FF, but I don’t think it should be quite enough to tip the scales in his favor. Deck also has 3 top 30 defensive performances, including the #1 overall performance. For me, that is enough to be the Defensive Player of the Year.

With me being a rookie, and being on the Pythons, there are not many people I know who are worthy of sending love to. As much as I enjoy being with my teammates, our team is easily the worst in the DSFL with not many standouts. But there is one player I do want to give a shout out (or deserves recognition) and that is the Pythons star rookie running back, Logan Noble Jr. I think that he deserves to be in the talks for Rookie of the Year for the DSFL He is fourth in the League in rushing, and while he is behind two other rookies, he is clearly carrying the team on his back and is the brightest spot on what is otherwise a pretty bare roster. I thought about potentially giving love to MacGregor, the Pythons star Linebacker, but I wanted to shed light on a spot that doesn't get all the glamour. He is also the heart and soul of our offense and is picking up the slack that is left behind from O'Donnell. No disrespect to him but he is frankly having a terrible season. While MacGregor is clear favorite in the Defensive Rookie of the Year, I hope Noble Jr. gets some consideration for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Rando Cardrissiao is easily the best RB in the DSFL. The way this man breaks huge gains left and right is so fun to watch. In 12 games he is already a 1,000 yard rusher and has found the end zone 13 times! He is one of only 4 1,000 yard rushers and is only 1 of 2 running backs with more than 10 touchdowns. Rando averages a solid 5 yards a carry as well which is a wonderful thing to have on a first down carry. Rando has easily been the best offensive player on the Coyotes, and will easily be a top 5 draft pick. Rando has flown under the radar just quietly going about his business and putting up monster games left and right. I cant wait to see how he finishes the year in these last 2 games.
Another player to look at is J Quellers. A CB who is currently tied for second in the DSFL for interceptions and also 1 of 7 players with an interception. Quellers has been the cornerstone of our defense. Quellers has also picked up a forced fumble and fumble recovery to go along 14 pass deflections. Another top draft pick in the upcoming draft and with 2 more games left he has a chance to improve so much more!
Our traditional awards are ok and all but they are also a little generic. Here are a couple we could add to the festivities.
Most likely to get max TPE on predictions – The winner is SabaDonutMan. Is he actually the best at predictions? I don’t really know but I’ve learned throughout this season that I will fare better copying his predictions than guessing on my own. Most gluttonous player – The winner is Logan Noble Jr. With the downward spiral of a season the Portland Pythons have endured, the only way poor Junior has been able to cope is by eating excessively. When he is not on the field, he is indulging on whatever snacks he can get his hands on. This includes on the sideline as well. In just over 12 weeks, he has gained an astonishing 95 pounds. When asked about this, he just replied that he’s cultivating mass. Most likely to have five General Managers in a season – The winners are the entire Portland Pythons Roster. What else can you say about this award besides “what the fuck?” Their GMs that began the season were forcibly removed from their positions. This ushered in a complete front office overhaul. It took just 12 short in real life days for the newly named GM to tender their resignation. With the application process under way, this team could very well be introduced to their 5th GM during the S20 season.
