Greetings everyone! Tito Thompson of the Kingsport Times here with one of the standout LB prospects in this year's NSFL draft class, Lawrence Bass. Lawrence, welcome.
Thank you, Mr. Thompson.
Please, call me Tito.
Alright, Tito.
So, Lawrence, let's get right to it. What do you bring to this draft class that some of these other athletes don't already have?
Off the top of my head, I'd say patience.
Interesting answer! Tell me more.
Well, everyone at this level is a great athlete. They've all got power and speed and play-making ability. But, not everyone has the patience to use those things at the right time. Everyone wants to make a play, but sometimes it's smarter to wait for the right moment.
What would you say to a coach that says that sounds like an excuse to take some plays off?
Watch my film. You'll see that I'm never taking a break. I promise you that.
You don't have to convince me! I've seen some of your tape, and I must say, I'm impressed to say the least. You play with a certain calmness that I didn't expect to see.
Yes sir. I do my best to keep my emotions in check during the game, and only celebrate on the sideline once the job is done. Seen too many guys pop off on the field, only to get burned the next play.
What would you say to a coach that says you don't necessarily stand out in any major category? You were close to the middle of the class in most of the combine events.
Again, watch that tape. My boy Buck put together a fantastic highlight reel. I may not be the fastest or the strongest, but I'm gunna get out there day one, and make plays for you. Believe me. I'm so ready to get out there and make an impact.
I believe it. And I know you will. Any team in particular you have your eye on?
Oh, no, sir. I'll play anytime, anywhere against anyone. I love this game, and I'll give my all where ever I end up.
I love it. Lawrence, thank you so much for your time. I look forward to seeing where you end up. And to all the coaches and GMs out there, make sure you watch the tape!
Haha that's right! Thank you for the interview, Tito.
